Three prices, all read by us
Usual
The price the unit sat at for the most days over the last 90, measured by how long it held, not how often we looked. A weekend promotion cannot move it.
Lowest recorded
The lowest price we have read on the maker’s own store since July 17. Discounts applied automatically count; typed coupon codes and marketplace listings do not.
Today
The store price at our latest read. If that read is more than two days old, or disagrees with our catalogue by 10% or more, the unit is not called a deal until we read it again.
We never use the store’s crossed-out “was” price. Today 29 of the units we track show one higher than any price we have ever seen them sell for. Full method on the methodology page.
Questions
When do Black Friday power station sales start?
Not on a fixed day. In the months we have tracked, discounts arrived in waves, a brand at a time: on Sep 7 BLUETTI put 5 units on sale in a single day. This page re-reads every store twice a day, so a new sale shows here within about 12 hours of starting.
Is Black Friday the cheapest time to buy a power station?
Not automatically. The price-to-beat column is the lowest price each unit has sold for at its maker's store since July 17. Today 33 units sell for more than 5% above a price they have already had. If a Black Friday price does not beat that number, it is a sale you could have had on an ordinary week.
How do you know a discount is real?
We compare today's price with the price the unit actually sold for on most days over the last 90, read by us from the maker's store twice a day. We never use the store's crossed-out "was" price: today 29 of the units we track show one higher than anything we have ever seen them sell for.
Should I wait for a lower price?
Only if today's price is above the price to beat. Discounts are short: of the 22 sales we watched start and finish, half lasted 2 days or less. A unit at its lowest recorded price is unlikely to get much cheaper soon.
Why is a unit I want missing from the deals?
It is at its usual price, out of stock, or too new to judge (we need a few weeks of prices before we know what "usual" is). Every unit we track is in the price-to-beat table with its status.
