Is the DELTA 3 Ultra worth $450 more than the DELTA 3 Max?
Only if you'll use the headroom. The money buys 1,024Wh plus 1,200W more continuous output and 2,400W more surge, and the capacity half of that works out to roughly $0.44 per Wh, slightly worse than either unit's own rate. Here's the clean test: if your heaviest realistic day is at or under the 1,645Wh blackout profile, the Max already covers it and the $450 stays in your pocket.
Can the DELTA 3 Ultra be expanded with extra batteries?
No. It's fixed at 3,072Wh with no expansion port, and the Max is the one that takes EcoFlow expansion batteries. That reads like a mark against the Ultra and mostly isn't, because the Ultra starts 1,024Wh higher, so the first expansion battery you buy for a Max is largely spent reaching a capacity the Ultra shipped with. Expandability only wins above 3,072Wh.
