Is the Yeti 700 worth $200 more than the Yeti 500?

Only if you have a continuous load between 500W and 600W, or you already know you need more than 424Wh of usable energy on a given night. The $200 buys 178 watt-hours, which works out to $1.12 per watt-hour against the $1.00 the Yeti 500 charges for the capacity it already carries. Everything else on the two spec sheets matches, down to the surge ceiling and the warranty.

Why is the cheaper Yeti 700 the newer model?

Goal Zero's 6th-generation Yeti line moved to LiFePO4 chemistry, and the 700 is part of it, rated for 4,000 cycles. The pricier Yeti 1000X is from the earlier X-series that used lithium-NMC cells rated for about 500 cycles. So the 700 is both cheaper and the more current battery technology, while the 1000X charges a premium for more output, not a better cell.

Can the Yeti 700 run a refrigerator or a space heater?

Not dependably. Its 600W continuous rating and 1000W surge ceiling are built for phones, laptops, lights, and a CPAP. A fridge or space heater that spikes past 1,000W at startup needs the Yeti 1000X's 1500W and 3000W inverter, which is the main thing the extra $300 buys.

Which lasts longer, the Yeti 700 or the 1000X?

The 700, by a wide margin. Its LiFePO4 cells are rated for 4,000 cycles versus roughly 500 for the 1000X's NMC cells, about eleven years of daily use against a year and a half. Goal Zero's own warranties reflect it: five years on the 700, two on the 1000X.

Is the DJI Power 500 or Goal Zero Yeti 700 the better value?

The Power 500, clearly. It costs $341 less, works out to 18 cents per lifetime kilowatt-hour against the Yeti's 26, and delivers double the continuous output. The Yeti's only advantage is 165Wh of extra capacity, and that reserve rarely gets used on units this size.
