What's the real difference between the RIVER 3 230 and the RIVER 3 PLUS?
Mostly output, not battery. The PLUS holds 56 more Wh but doubles continuous output to 600W, doubles surge to 1,200W, and nearly doubles solar input to 200W. It also adds an expansion path the 230 doesn't have, for $70 more (on last listed prices).
Is the RIVER 3 230 too small for regular use?
Not for its intended job — charging phones, tablets, laptops, or running a CPAP. Its 300W continuous output and 230Wh capacity are the smallest in the RIVER 3 family, but for device-charging use it's a fully capable, cheaper-to-own unit at $0.29 per lifetime kWh.
Are the EcoFlow RIVER 2 and RIVER 3 230 discontinued?
Yes. Both have left EcoFlow's own store. EcoFlow now sells the RIVER 2 240 in the RIVER 2's place, the same unit with a slightly smaller battery, and the smallest RIVER 3 it still stocks is the RIVER 3 PLUS. The RIVER 3 230 survives only as marketplace listings we don't track.
What's the difference between the RIVER 2 and the RIVER 3 230?
Less than the names suggest. Both put out 300W with a 600W surge, weigh 7.8 lbs, take 110W of solar and are rated for 3,000 cycles. The RIVER 2 holds 256Wh to the RIVER 3 230's 230Wh; the RIVER 3 230 has a 100W USB-C port to the RIVER 2's 60W, a ≤20ms UPS rating to ≤30ms, and a published noise figure the RIVER 2 lacks.
Can the RIVER 2 or RIVER 3 230 run a CPAP all night?
No. The CPAP night we model takes 320Wh, and after the flat 85% derate the RIVER 2 delivers about 218Wh and the RIVER 3 230 about 196Wh. That covers roughly 68% and 61% of the night. For full nights you need a much larger station.
