What's actually different between the DELTA 2 and the DELTA 3 Classic?
Three things. The DELTA 3 Classic is rated 30 dB against the DELTA 2's 50 dB, it surges to 3,600W against 2,700W, and it transfers to battery in 10ms against 20ms. Capacity, continuous output, cycle life, solar input, warranty and USB-C output are identical, so those three are the entire decision.
Is the DELTA 2 still worth buying?
Only at a lower price than the DELTA 3 Classic. It's a proven design with 18 months of real field use behind it and consistent praise for its charging speed and battery chemistry [A3], and none of that has gone away. But at $499 against $469 you'd be paying more for a louder unit with less surge headroom and a slower transfer.
EcoFlow DELTA 2 vs DELTA 3 Max Plus — which should I buy?
Buy the Max Plus ($1,099) if you can stretch past the DELTA 2's $499 — it wins four of six real-world tests (blackout, remote workday, CPAP night, tailgate) and costs less per lifetime kWh ($0.13 vs $0.16) despite the higher sticker price. Buy the DELTA 2 if the $600 today matters more than the extra headroom, or if you're the one carrying it and want the lighter 27 lb unit over the Max Plus's 50.7 lbs.
Is the DELTA 3 Max Plus really cheaper to own than the DELTA 2?
Yes, on a per-kWh basis. The Max Plus is rated for 4,000 cycles against the DELTA 2's 3,000, which spreads its higher $1,099 price over 8,192 lifetime kWh instead of 3,072 — working out to $0.13 per kWh against $0.16. The DELTA 2 is still the cheaper purchase; it's just not the cheaper unit over its full life.
DELTA 2 or RIVER 2 Pro — which is the better value now that the RIVER 2 Pro is cheaper?
The RIVER 2 Pro, for most buyers. It's $150 less, and the engine's own lifetime cost comes out ahead too — $0.15 per lifetime kWh against the DELTA 2's $0.16, and $70 a warranty year against $100. Pay the $150 premium only if you specifically need the DELTA 2's extra output, surge capacity, or expansion path.
