Reviewers knock DJI most on charging and praise its charging; Goal Zero draws its sharpest notes on charging and durability and takes clean marks on durability and charging. Read the bars as where each brand gets argued about, not as a score.

From the test desk

  • This one is decided by the Yeti 200X's 120W AC ceiling, not its 187Wh battery: if anything on your list has a compressor or a heating element, no amount of capacity would have saved it.

  • Cycled daily, the Yeti 1000X is down to 80% health inside a year and a half while the Power 500 is still working in year eight, and the Power 500 is the one that costs $621 less.

  • Same 4,000-cycle battery on both, but the Power 500 costs $341 less, sustains double the continuous output, and refills from the sun in half the time — the Yeti 700's extra 165Wh can't buy its way past that.

  • Save $299 on the Yeti 1000X and you've bought 500 cycles instead of 4,000. Every other difference on this page is a footnote to that.

  • Both boxes cost 74 cents a watt-hour to buy, so the only reason to pay $1,125 instead of $379 is a load you need 1,516Wh to cover in one sitting.

  • Both boxes hold the same energy for the same decade, so the only question left is what you can plug into them: the DJI runs 1,000W continuously for $299, and the Yeti stops at 500W and asks $500.
