Take the DJI Power 2000. It's $1,299 against the Yeti 1000X's $1,000, and that $299 buys more than twice the battery (2,048Wh against 983Wh), eight times the rated cycle life, and three times the solar intake ceiling (1,800W against 600W).
The gap shows up as failures, not as bragging rights. An eight-hour blackout in our load model needs 1,645Wh, and the Yeti holds 836Wh usable after the standard 85% inverter derate, so it stops 809Wh short of morning. A remote workday needs 910Wh and it misses by 74Wh. That's the worst kind of miss: close enough that you'd have believed it would make it.
The Yeti's case is real and narrow. It's 31.68 lb against 48.5, which is the difference between a one-hand grab and a two-hand, bent-knees lift. If you move this thing more often than you drain it, that's a genuine reason to pay less for less. Nothing else here goes the Yeti's way.

The Yeti isn't in the conversation: 809Wh short of the 1,645Wh needed, so it covers a bit over half the outage and then stops. But our own pick clears it by 96Wh of 1,741Wh usable, roughly 5% of what it can actually deliver. Add a space heater or a second fridge and the Power 2000 fails the same test. This pair is a choice between a unit that just finishes an eight-hour outage and one that doesn't get close.

The Power 2000 answers both. It carries the load through a grid drop without the machine restarting, and it tells you how loud it is; reviewers clocked about 29dB at five feet when its fan engagedA2. The Yeti answers neither. Its missing noise figure isn't evidence it's loud, it's the absence of anything to hold it to, which is a worse problem when you're buying for a bedroom sight unseen.

Charge these twice a week and the Yeti's cells reach their rating in 4.8 years while the Power 2000's are still going at 38.5. Daily, it's 1.4 years against 11. Those aren't death dates. At the cycle limit a pack settles at roughly 80% of what it started with and keeps working. But that milestone arrives inside a two-year warranty on one of these and never really arrives on the other.
Chemistry is the reason, not workmanship. The Yeti runs lithium NMC rather than LiFePO4, rated for 500 cycles to 80% in a market where rivals are rated past 3,000B1. That was a defensible trade when the 1000X launched. It isn't one against a 4,000-cycle pack that costs $299 more.
Your Life, Your Pick
Selected because: The Yeti 1000X misses the 8-hour blackout by 809Wh and the remote workday by 74Wh, which is where the capacity gap stops being abstract.
The Yeti's 983Wh doesn't fail dramatically, it fails narrowly, and narrow is worse. It clears the 670Wh tailgate with 166Wh left and sails through the CPAP night. Then it misses the 910Wh remote workday by 74Wh. Seventy-four watt-hours is one laptop afternoon. Nothing in a spec sheet warns you about a miss that small.
Above that line, both units run out together. Weekend camping needs 2,100Wh and neither has it: the Power 2000 is 359Wh short, the Yeti 1,264Wh. Van life at 4,685Wh isn't close for either. So the honest band where this comparison decides anything runs from about 836Wh to about 1,741Wh of daily draw. Below it, buy the cheaper box. Above it, buy a bigger one.
What the Specs Don't Tell You

Only one of these keeps your router online when the grid drops. The Power 2000 does UPS pass-through; the Yeti 1000X has none, so everything plugged into it reboots. For a desktop with unsaved work, a NAS, or a CPAP with a boot sequence, that isn't a feature comparison. It's a yes or a no.
Warranty runs the same direction as everything else, 5 years against 2. So does disclosure: the Power 2000 publishes 30dB and Goal Zero publishes nothing at all for the 1000X. Treat that as a missing number rather than a bad one, and then notice that the only figure on the table still belongs to the unit we're already recommending.

The Power 2000 does UPS pass-through: plug in a desktop, a router or a CPAP and the grid can drop without the device restarting. The Yeti 1000X has no UPS, so everything on it reboots. For anything with a boot sequence or an unsaved file open, that's a yes-or-no spec rather than a nice-to-have.
