Two lines, two different jobs
Jackery Explorer
Explorer is Jackery's original and much broader line, running from units small enough for a daypack up to large trailer-sized ones. It’s the range you shop when portability is part of the requirement, and its breadth is its real advantage — there’s an Explorer at almost every size a buyer might want.
Jackery HomePower
HomePower is the newer line, aimed at backup duty rather than travel. Every unit is built to be placed and left: faster switchover for sensitive equipment, more capacity accepted from solar, expansion batteries across most of the line, and cells rated for the longest service life of anything we track.
Are these two lines even competing?
Before asking which is better, it's worth asking whether they overlap at all.
These lines overlap through the middle, and there they compete directly — several pairs hold the same capacity and the same rated output, including one pair whose published specifications are identical down to the weight.
Outside that band the comparison breaks down. Explorer reaches both far smaller and far larger than HomePower does, so at the extremes there’s no HomePower alternative to consider. And if the unit will be cycled daily rather than used a few weekends a year, the two lines' very different cycle ratings turn what looks like a close call into a clear one.

Carry weight
Watt-hours per pound is how much energy you get for what you have to lift. It says nothing about total capacity — a dense unit can still be too heavy to move if it’s simply large.

More than twice as much of the HomePower line accepts an extra battery. Most Explorers are capacity-capped at purchase, which fits a line built around carrying a known load rather than backing up an uncertain one.
Switchover speed
When utility power drops, a unit with UPS passthrough takes over — but not instantly. Under about 10ms almost nothing notices. Around 20ms most equipment rides through, but sensitive gear can blink: a desktop may reboot, some CPAP units will alarm.
