Is the Jackery Explorer 500 or Explorer 600 v2 the better buy?
For $10 more, the 600 v2 wins on nearly every measurable spec: 640Wh against 518Wh, a 3,000-cycle LiFePO4 battery against the 500's 500-cycle lithium-ion, and a 5-year warranty against 2. Unless the extra $10 is genuinely unavailable, it's the one to buy.
Why is the Explorer 500 so much more expensive per kWh over its life?
Because it dies six times sooner. Rated for 500 cycles against the 600 v2's 3,000, it delivers far less total energy over its lifespan for a price that's only $10 lower, which is how its lifetime cost per kWh ends up at $1.39 against the 600 v2's $0.19.
