Cycle ratings are lab numbers, and real chargers, real heat and real neglect make a mess of them. Derate both if you like. But one of these is an LFP pack built to be charged thousands of times, and the other is older lithium-ion carrying a more famous name at a higher price, and no amount of derating closes nearly four to one.
What the Specs Don't Tell You
Selected because: the AC50B's 20ms UPS switchover, 65W USB-C port and 200W solar input are all things the Explorer 500 doesn't have, and none of them show up in a capacity comparison.

It does UPS passthrough: 20ms from grid failure to battery, fast enough that a desktop or a modem doesn't blink. The Explorer 500 publishes no switchover time because it doesn't do passthrough. You plug into it after the lights are already out.
The other two are ports and panels. The AC50B carries a 65W USB-C port, while the Explorer 500's USB-C maximum is zero watts, so every laptop goes through the AC outlet and pays the inverter for the privilege. Jackery's answer isn't a better support desk. It's a shorter walk. Take the AC50B. It's $279 against $359, it pushes 700W continuous where the Jackery pushes 500W, it accepts 200W of solar against 100W, it carries a 65W USB-C port where the Explorer 500 has none, and it holds a load through a grid cut in 20ms where the Jackery has no switchover at all. Underneath all of that sits the spec that decides the money: 3,000 rated cycles against 800, which over the two units' rated lives works out to 1,344 kWh delivered against 414. The Explorer 500's honest wins are that it holds 70Wh more, weighs 1.5 lbs less, runs 8 dB quieter, and can be carried back to a Costco counter if it misbehaves. The AC50B is the louder box
45 dBA under load against the Explorer 500's 37. Eight decibels is the gap between a fan you stop hearing and one you don't, and it's the strongest argument the Jackery makes anywhere on this page. It matters on a nightstand. It's nothing on a garage floor or in a truck bed.
Twice the panel, on the smaller battery
The AC50B accepts 200W of solar input. The Explorer 500 caps at 100W, and it's the bigger battery, so its solar refill runs about 7.4 hours and swallows most of a usable solar day. If you're buying for outages rather than campsites, recharge rate is a survival spec and not a convenience one.
No app, and it's close to a wash
The Explorer 500 has no app control whatsoever. Given that Jackery's app rates 2.3 to 3.3 stars, ships as two separate and easily confused apps, and demands a login even when you're offline, its absence costs you less than it should. Read the state of charge off the front panel and get on with your day.
AC50B: Power Lifting to 1,000W
The AC50B has BLUETTI's Power Lifting mode, which runs a resistive appliance rated up to 1,000W from its 700W inverter. It does that by delivering less power than the appliance asks for, not more than the inverter has: the heater still works, it just heats more slowly. Two things follow. BLUETTI scopes the mode to purely resistive loads — a heater, a kettle, an incandescent lamp — so it does nothing for a fridge compressor, a pump or a power tool, and this record publishes no surge figure at all, so read the mode as a resistive-load feature rather than as starting ability. And it is not a reason to size down, because running a load that big from 448Wh is a short session either way. Genuinely useful if a heater or a kettle is why you're buying; beside the point otherwise. The Explorer 500 publishes no equivalent.
20 milliseconds, and nothing reboots
Only the AC50B does UPS passthrough. Plug the modem and the desktop into it, leave it on the wall, and when the grid drops it takes over in 20ms, fast enough that neither device notices. It runs traditional lithium-ion rather than LiFePO4B1, and the write-ups now point at the Explorer 500 v2 as the LFP replacement with significantly better longevityB4. That is an odd thing to read about the unit you're being asked to pay more for.
The praise is real and narrow.
