Its solar ceiling is 100W, so refilling the full 518Wh from empty takes a bit over five hours of good sun, and that is the optimistic version, since the rating assumes a clear sky and a panel actually aimed at it. The Yeti 500X accepts 120W, which trims the same job on its 497Wh pack to about four hours. For either unit, treat solar as a top-up between outings rather than the fuel supply for daily off-grid use.

Surge Power: Inverter Quality Indicator

The Yeti 500X has a 4× surge-to-continuous ratio vs the Explorer 500's 2×, and the higher absolute ceiling with it — 1,200W against 1,000W.
