$1,299 buys 3,072Wh. $219 buys 268Wh. The $1,080 between them doesn't buy a better power station so much as a different category of object: one's an appliance you set in a corner and run cords out from, the other lives in the back seat until somebody's phone dies. They're barely competitors.
Take 15% off that rating for inverter losses and the reserve nobody drains into, and what's left to actually spend is about 228Wh. Every one of our six standard load profiles wants more than that. A CPAP night wants 320Wh. A tailgate wants 670Wh, a remote workday 910Wh, an eight-hour blackout 1,645Wh, a weekend of camping 2,100Wh. The EB3A can power the peak draw in all of them. It just reaches the bottom of the tank first, every time.
Run the same haircut on the Ultra and you're spending from 2,611Wh (3,072 × 85%), which turns that entire list into percentages you can stop thinking about: 12% for the CPAP night, 26% for the tailgate, 35% for the workday, 63% for the blackout, 80% for the camping weekend. So the Ultra wins, and it isn't close. Most of what follows is the case for buying the cheap one anyway, because for a lot of people that's still the right call.

Why it mattersIf a whole night of CPAP is the job, the EB3A is a partial-night bridge rather than the answer, unless you pair it with a panel and count on a sunny morning.

Nobody keeps a power station for either span. The rate only turns into money for somebody cycling near-daily, where the same model gives the Ultra 11 years and the EB3A 6.8. Everyone else is buying a ceiling, not a rate.

That's what decides where each unit lives. Seventy-two pounds is a bent-knees, two-people-on-the-stairs lift, so the Ultra gets carried once and then stays carried while the loads come to it. Ten pounds goes wherever the load already is, which is why the noisier one's rating matters more than a twenty-decibel gap sounds like it should: the quiet unit ends up in the garage and the loud one ends up wherever you are.

An eight-hour blackout reads 63% on one unit and 722% on the other, and both figures are honest, because they measure against what each unit can actually spend rather than what's printed on the case: 2,611Wh and 228Wh, after the 85% haircut. Seeing that outage through on an EB3A means emptying and refilling it about seven times (1,645 ÷ 228). The one row where the Ultra also comes up short is the 4,685Wh van-life day, and the verdict there is correctly neither. A 4.7kWh daily draw is a wired house battery's job, not a portable's.
The EB3A is never out-muscled, though, and that's worth sitting with. It clears the peak draw in all six profiles, van life included. Its 600W inverter and 1,200W surge will start what these scenarios ask for; they just can't keep it going. Capacity is the wall it hits, not inverter size, and that tells you whether your fix is one bigger unit or a second small one.
What the Specs Don't Tell You
Selected because: Three of these five cards are the ones that surprise people after the box is open: the weight, the fan, and the UPS handover.

Two of these five cards should change what you buy and the other three you can read once and forget. 72.1 lb is real, and it's the honest strike against our own pick. The UPS card is the one that's kinder to the EB3A than the evidence is: 30ms against the Ultra's 10ms looks perfectly respectable, but owners keep describing false 'overload' cutouts under 40–60W in exactly that modeB5B6B7B8, and one review clocks the handover at a second or two rather than a fraction of oneB15.
Warranty and cycle life mostly cancel each other out. Five years against two favours the Ultra; $260 per warranty year against $110 favours the EB3A; neither unit is going to die of old age on a weekend owner. Noise is the card that changes with a floor plan. Twenty decibels is nothing in a garage and a great deal in a room where somebody's asleep.

Selected because: The cheapest energy here comes out of the expensive box, which matters enormously if you cycle daily and not at all if you don't.

That three-to-one spread is real arithmetic, and it only becomes money if you genuinely put 2,500 full charges through the small one. Camp twice a month and you'll retire the EB3A over something else entirely, a better unit or a move or a lost charger, long before its cells are tired. The $1,080 you didn't spend is worth more to you than the rate you didn't get.
Daily cycling is where the rate actually bites. A van, a job site, an off-grid cabin: there the model gives the Ultra 11 years and the EB3A 6.8, and you'd be shopping for a replacement while the expensive one is barely half used up. Buy on rate if that's you. Otherwise buy on ceiling.
Portability & Form Factor
Selected because: 62 lb of difference (72.1 against 10.1) is the EB3A's one uncontested win, and for some buyers it's the only one that counts.

Ten pounds is the EB3A's whole argument and it's a good one. It's the unit that comes to the problem: up a ladder, into a tent, onto a boat, over to whoever's phone is dead. The Ultra doesn't come to problems. Problems come to the Ultra, on the end of an extension cord.
So the real comparison isn't Ultra against EB3A. It's Ultra-plus-cord-run against EB3A-in-hand. If the plan is keeping a fridge and a modem alive in one spot, weight barely registers and the bigger tank wins outright. If the plan is charging things wherever people happen to be, most of the Ultra's capacity advantage is stranded in the corner you put it in.
Brand Trust
Selected because: The EB3A's best-documented failure is the kind you need a support ticket for, and support is where these two brands are furthest apart.
The EB3A's headline problem is one you'd have to phone somebody about, and that's the expensive part. BLUETTI's support is the most inconsistent in the category: email-driven, on China time, and owners describe firmware advice that made the symptom more frequent and app tickets that were never answered at allB9B10. Buying direct from BLUETTI rather than through a marketplace measurably improves the odds.
EcoFlow isn't clean here either. Its support splits hard between a prepaid label and a fast replacement on one side, and long waits with a refurbished unit at the end on the other. The DELTA Max 2000 was recalled in October 2025 over overheating risk across six incidents, and out of warranty there's no parts or service at all. Those five years are the coverage, all of it. Whichever unit you pick, buy it somewhere with a return desk you'd actually be willing to walk up to.

The DELTA 3 Ultra wins, and the only place it loses is the receipt. $1,299 against $219 buys about eleven times the storage (3,072Wh ÷ 268Wh) and a 3,600W inverter where the EB3A has 600W. Muscle isn't what separates them, though. Endurance is. This is the honest strike against the bigger unit. It outweighs the EB3A by 62 lb (72.1 against 10.1), and that's a bent-knees lift with somebody helping, not something you reposition because the sun moved. Decide before you buy where the DELTA 3 Ultra is going to sit, because that's where it'll be during the outage, and the cords will be doing the travelling.
Twenty Decibels, Measured in Rooms
30 dBA against 50 dBA is a wide gap, and where it lands depends entirely on which room each unit ends up in. In a garage or a basement, neither number is worth a thought. In a bedroom, which is exactly where a small unit goes when it's backing a CPAP, the EB3A's 50 dBA stops being background and becomes the thing you're listening to. Small units get put close to people. Weigh it accordingly.
10ms vs 30ms, and What the Number Misses
Both handovers are quick enough on paper for a desktop or a router: 10ms on the DELTA 3 Ultra, 30ms on the EB3A. But switchover speed only describes the first thirtieth of a second. What it never tells you is whether a unit will sit plugged in for months at a trickle load without getting upset, and that's the part that decides whether a backup is actually a backup. Nobody has lived with a DELTA 3 Ultra through a winter yet, or at least nobody who's written it up, so what exists comes from review desks and should be read as indicative rather than settled. The consistent notes are noise and handover. Can either of these run a refrigerator during a power outage?
Both will start one. The peak draw in our eight-hour blackout profile sits inside the EB3A's 600W continuous and 1,200W surge, and well inside the Ultra's 3,600W and 7,200W. Eight hours is where they part company: the profile needs 1,645Wh, which is 63% of the Ultra's usable 2,611Wh and about seven full EB3A charges (1,645 ÷ 228). Check your own fridge's label first, because a compressor pulls two to three times its running wattage in the instant it kicks on.
Can you add more battery capacity to either one?
No. The DELTA 3 Ultra is a sealed 3,072Wh system with no expansion port, and the EB3A is fixed at 268Wh. On the Ultra that barely registers as a limitation, because 3,072Wh already covers heavy multi-day loads and it's the finished form of the product rather than a starter kit waiting for modules.
