Buy the DELTA 3 Ultra if you…
- →You're buying for outages. The fridge, the modem, two lamps and a CPAP on the nightstand: the eight-hour blackout uses 63% of this unit, and the Plus holds not one watt-hour more. Save the $200.
- →You charge from the wall, or from an array that tops out at 800W. A higher input ceiling is worth precisely what your panels can push into it, and not a dollar more.
- →You already know your ceiling. If 3,072Wh covers the worst night you can picture, sealed isn't a compromise. It's the shape of the box you needed.
Buy the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus if you…
- →You own panels that push past 800W, or you're buying them alongside the unit. Doubling the input ceiling is the difference between planning your afternoon around the sun and not thinking about it.
- →You're heading toward partial-home backup or a full-time van build. The port is the only way this chassis ever holds more than 3,072Wh, it's a checkout-time decision, and the expansion battery is a separate line in the budget.

Take the base DELTA 3 Ultra at $1,399. Eleven cents a lifetime kilowatt-hour against twelve is not a difference anyone has ever felt.
The exception is sharp enough to check yourself against in about ten seconds. If your panels push past 800W, or you can picture the year 3,072Wh stops being enough, the Plus is the only one of the two with an answer, and neither of those doors reopens after checkout. Everyone else: buy the cheaper box and put the $200 toward panels you'll actually use.

Capacity, inverter output, surge, cycle life, warranty, switchover time, noise rating and USB-C output are identical. The base is $1,399 and the Plus is $1,599.
Is the Ultra Plus worth the extra $200?
Only if you'll use one of the two things it adds. Across the 5-year warranty the gap works out to $300 a year against $260, so you're deciding whether double the solar input and an expansion port are worth $40 a year. With panels or growth plans, comfortably yes. Without them you're buying a port you'll never open.
Can I add a battery to the DELTA 3 Ultra later?
No. The base unit is sealed at 3,072Wh with no expansion port, so the capacity you buy is the capacity you keep. The Ultra Plus is the version that accepts EcoFlow expansion batteries. If there's a real chance you'll outgrow 3,072Wh, that decision has to be made at checkout, because the only later upgrade is a second power station.
How fast does each one refill from solar?
At full rated input, the base unit's 800W puts just under four hours between empty and full on a 3,072Wh pack, which is 3,072 divided by 800. The Plus's 1,600W cuts that to about two. Those are ceilings rather than promises: a real array in real weather rarely hits its rating, which is also why the higher ceiling only helps if you own enough panel to approach it.
Will either one run a van full time?
