EcoFlow DELTA 3 Ultra Plus vs Anker SOLIX S5000

The S5000 sells its extra 1,952Wh at the Ultra Plus's own rate per watt-hour and adds 240V split-phase on top, so the only real case for the EcoFlow is the 22.7 lb you don't have to move.

The S5000 costs $901 more and gives you 1,952Wh more battery for it, which works out to almost exactly the same price per watt-hour as the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus. That's unusual. The bigger box normally carries a premium per unit of energy; here you're buying more of the same thing at the same rate.

The extra money also buys the part that matters in a house: an L14-30R outlet carrying 240V split-phase at up to 4,500WB2B3, and a solar ceiling of 3,000W against the Ultra Plus's 1,600W. Our record lists no 240V output on the EcoFlow. If your outage plan includes a well pump, a dryer circuit or a generator inlet, that settles it.

The Ultra Plus keeps two real advantages. It weighs 74.3 lb against 97, and it has a 12V car outlet the S5000 doesn'tB15. If the unit lives in a truck, a van or a spare room rather than a garage, those two facts outweigh everything above.

02

What the Numbers Reveal

Each conclusion stated first — the numbers behind it on one line, the full analysis below.

F1

Capacity

Once capacity is priced the same, the 240V outlet is effectively thrown in. That's the outlet a well pump, a dryer circuit or a generator inlet needs, and the Ultra Plus can't supply it on its own.

DELTA 3 Ultra Plus: 3,072Wh, catalogue cost per Wh $.52SOLIX S5000: 5,024Wh, catalogue cost per Wh $.50S5000 has an L14-30R at 240V split-phase up to 4,500WB3; Ultra Plus record lists 240V outlets: 0

Why it mattersHome-backup buyers should stop treating the S5000 as the luxury option; it's the same deal, scaled up, with the house-wiring outlet attached.

F2

solar input

Every hour of full sun at the ceiling banks 1,400Wh more on the S5000 (3,000 minus 1,600), which is about 46% of the Ultra Plus's entire pack. In a multi-day outage with a serious array, the Anker turns the same sunny morning into far more stored evening.

S5000 solar input: 3,000W across two inputsB5DELTA 3 Ultra Plus solar input: 1,600WCapacities: 5,024Wh vs 3,072Wh

Why it mattersAnyone pairing the station with a large rooftop or ground array gets more out of each sunny day from the S5000.

F3

cost / lifetime kWh

That advantage is real only if you spend the cycles. A unit sitting at full charge waiting for a storm uses almost none, and on that duty the fair comparison is purchase price per watt-hour, where the two sit within two cents of each other. Neither reading makes the Ultra Plus the cheaper battery.

DELTA 3 Ultra Plus: 4,000 cycles, 12,288 kWh lifetime energy, $0.13 per lifetime kWhSOLIX S5000: 6,000 cycles to 80%B12, 30,144 kWh lifetime energy, $0.08 per lifetime kWhBoth carry a 5-year warranty

Why it mattersDaily solar cyclers get a clear lifetime win from the S5000; standby buyers get parity, never a loss.

F4

weight

That defines who the Ultra Plus is for: the buyer whose station rides in a vehicle running a 12V fridge, or sits in the house near a bed. Our record carries no such placement rule for the EcoFlow, and it's 22.7 lb lighter to get there.

S5000 rated for non-habitable spaces; holding more than 1 kWh, it belongs outside sleeping roomsB7S5000 has no 12V car outletB15; Ultra Plus record lists oneWeights: 97 lb vs 74.3 lb

Why it mattersIf the unit lives anywhere but a garage or utility space, the Ultra Plus is the better fit regardless of the capacity math.

The specific dimensions that decide these two units — everything else is a tie.

Lifetime Value

Selected because: The two cost nearly the same per watt-hour, so the long-run cost per kWh is where the S5000's 6,000-cycle rating shows up.

cost / lifetime kWh

Eight cents a lifetime kilowatt-hour against thirteen is the S5000's cleanest number, but it's conditional. A battery that shifts solar into the evening every day spends its cycles and collects the saving. A battery parked at full charge for the next ice storm barely touches them.

On standby duty the honest yardstick is what each watt-hour costs at the till, and there the two are nearly level. So the S5000 is never the expensive choice here. At worst it's the same price per unit of energy; at best it's markedly cheaper over the years.

Growth Path

Selected because: Both expand, but the S5000 starts at 5,024Wh and takes 3,000W of solar, so its expansion has a bigger engine feeding it.

solar input

Both take extra batteries, so expandability doesn't separate them. What does is the engine feeding the bank. Up to five BP5000 packs take the S5000 to 30,144WhB6, and 3,000W of panel input means a sunny day can actually refill a meaningful share of that. A large bank behind a 1,600W ceiling is a bank you'll rarely see full.

One catch on the Anker side: packs add hours, not watts. Stack all five and the outlets still deliver 4,500WB14. If you're short on running power rather than runtime, expansion doesn't fix it.

Portability & Form Factor

Selected because: A 22.7 lb gap between two heavy units decides who can actually move theirs.

weight

Ninety-seven pounds is more than one person should lift, and Anker designed around it: wheels, a pull rod, and a foot step for tipping the cabinet back onto themB10B11. It's a roll, not a carry. The Ultra Plus is the lighter lift by 22.7 lb.

The surprise is energy per pound. The S5000 carries about 52Wh per pound (5,024 ÷ 97) against about 41 for the Ultra Plus (3,072 ÷ 74.3). The heavier box is the denser one, so the weight you're hauling is mostly battery you paid for.

Your Life, Your Pick

Selected because: The S5000 wins every scored scenario on margin, and the one neither finishes shows how close it comes.

The 8-hour blackout is the row to read. The S5000 comes out of it with 2,625Wh left, 1.6 more nights like it; the Ultra Plus has 966Wh, about 59% of a second night. If outages where you live run past one evening, that difference is the purchase.

Van Life Daily is the honest outlier. Neither finishes the 4,685Wh day, but the S5000 falls 415Wh short against the Ultra Plus's 2,074Wh. A little afternoon sun closes the Anker's gap. The EcoFlow's needs a plan.

Scenario verdicts

We ran the math on six real-world scenarios. Here's which unit survives your actual life.

Weekend Camping

Two nights off-grid with essential comfort

SOLIX S5000

The DELTA 3 Ultra Plus finishes the weekend at 80% used with 511Wh in hand — one cold night or an extra device eats into that. The SOLIX S5000 finishes at 49% with 2,170Wh, real slack for the spontaneous stuff. If you camp in variable weather, that buffer is the difference between relaxing and watching the battery app.

CPAP Overnight

Sleep therapy without interruption — the #1 medical use case

Either unit

Both carry a CPAP's night with nearly the whole battery left, so capacity settles nothing. Placement might. The S5000's rating label keeps it out of sleeping rooms, so it runs the machine from a hallway or utility room on a cord; our record carries no such rule for the Ultra Plus.

Game day power for the crew

SOLIX S5000

Both handle game day; the SOLIX S5000 keeps more in reserve (16% used vs 26%). Tailgating is a light load, though, so the number you'll feel is weight: 74.3 lbs for the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus against 97 lbs for the SOLIX S5000, from the trunk to the setup spot.

Van Life Daily

A full day of mobile living — the ultimate endurance test

Neither unit

Neither unit covers this scenario's 4,685Wh: the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus comes up 2,074Wh short (about 56% covered), the SOLIX S5000 415Wh (91%) (its nameplate 5,024Wh actually clears this — the flat 15% conversion allowance is what tips it under). Either gets you most of the way, so this is a scenario you plan around rather than one you should rule them out for.

Conclusion

October 9, 2026

Verdict: the SOLIX S5000, on Power Score margin

Buy the SOLIX S5000 if this is for home backup. The $901 gap buys 1,952Wh more battery at essentially the same price per watt-hour, an L14-30R outlet that feeds 240V loads our record doesn't list the Ultra Plus reaching on its own, and 3,000W of solar input against 1,600W. The DELTA 3 Ultra Plus is the right call when the unit has to travel, run 12V gear from a car outlet, or live inside the house rather than a garage. Confidence stops short of the top because nobody outside Anker has tested an S5000 yetB0.

Class ranking (the star rating)

Each unit's star score is a category ranking, not customer reviews — no buyer opinions feed it. We score every station on size-independent quality (value, output, portability, endurance, ports, warranty, and more), then percentile-rank it against the other units in its capacity class, so a class-leading compact unit and a class-leading whole-home unit can both earn 5★. Here, DELTA 3 Ultra Plus rates 4.9/5 (92nd percentile of 26 Large-class units), and SOLIX S5000 rates 4.6/5 (74th percentile of 20 Home Backup-class units).

Test Notes & Caveats

Hidden gotchas and advantages we spotted that you won't find on the product page.

[NOTE]

Weight Reality Check

Neither unit is grab-and-go. The DELTA 3 Ultra Plus (74.3 lbs) is manageable solo but heavier than a large checked suitcase. The SOLIX S5000 (97 lbs) is noticeably heavier. That's a 23 lb difference.

[NOTE]

Warranty: No Difference

Both units carry the same 5-year warranty, so coverage isn't a tiebreaker here. Worth saying because the per-dollar framing can suggest otherwise: the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus works out at 3.1 years of cover per $1,000 spent against the SOLIX S5000's 2, but that spread is the price gap, not the terms.

[NOTE]

Battery Lifespan in Real Years

The SOLIX S5000 is rated for 6,000 cycles vs 4,000. In real life: at daily use, that's 16.4 vs 11 years. At weekend use (twice a week), it's 58 vs 38 years. One caution reading years across different sizes: a cycle is 5,024Wh on the SOLIX S5000 and 3,072Wh on the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus, so count lifetime energy — roughly 30,144 kWh against 12,288 kWh over the rated life. After hitting the cycle limit, the battery doesn't die — it drops to ~80% of original capacity, which is still very usable.

Who Should Buy Which

Buy the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus if you…

  • →You need a station that goes in a truck bed or a van for trips and still covers the house in an outage: at 74.3 lb, the Ultra Plus is the one you can lift.
  • →Your setup runs a 12V fridge or other car-socket gear, which the S5000 has no outlet for.
  • →The unit has to live in the house rather than a garage or utility room, where the S5000's label wants it.

Buy the SOLIX S5000 if you…

  • →You're backing up a house with 240V loads, such as a well pump or a dryer circuit, through an L14-30 inlet.
  • →You have or plan a large solar array, and want each sunny hour to put 3,000W back rather than 1,600W.
  • →You'll run it hard for years, where 6,000 rated cycles make it the cheaper battery per kWh delivered.

If neither fits

If the job is a laptop, a router and a CPAP through the night, both are a lot of battery to buy and store; a station around a third the size of either covers it for far less. If you want the whole panel on, central air included, look at an installed home battery system instead.

The Bottom Line

Take the S5000 for a house. You pay $901 more and get it back as battery at the same rate per watt-hour, and the 240V outlet, the bigger solar input and the longer cycle rating come along at no extra cost per watt-hour.

Take the Ultra Plus if the box has to travel, run 12V gear or live indoors. Otherwise, roll the Anker into the garage and stop doing arithmetic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers drawn from the spec record and cited owner research.

Is the Anker SOLIX S5000 worth the extra over the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Ultra Plus?

For home backup, yes. The $901 difference buys 1,952Wh more battery at nearly the same price per watt-hour, plus 240V split-phase output and almost twice the solar input. If you need to lift the unit or run car-socket gear, the Ultra Plus is the better fit.

Can the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus power 240V appliances?

Not on its own, going by our record, which lists no 240V output for it. The S5000 has an L14-30R outlet carrying 240V split-phase at up to 4,500W, the connection a well pump circuit or a generator inlet expects.

Which one recharges faster from solar panels?

Both refill from empty in under two hours at their solar ceilings, but the S5000 puts 5,024Wh back in that time against 3,072Wh. Its two inputs total 3,000W against the Ultra Plus's 1,600W. Either figure assumes an array big enough to reach the ceiling.

Can I keep the Anker SOLIX S5000 in a bedroom for my CPAP?

Its rating label says no: holding more than 1 kWh, it's rated for non-habitable spaces and belongs outside sleeping rooms. It carries a CPAP night easily, using about 7% of its usable capacity, but it does that from a hallway, utility room or garage on a cord.

How heavy is the Anker SOLIX S5000 compared with the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus?

97 lb against 74.3, a 22.7 lb difference. The S5000 rolls on wheels with a pull rod and foot pedal, so moving it across a floor is easy and lifting it into a vehicle is a two-person job.
