BLUETTI AC200L or AC200MAX — which should I buy?
The AC200L, decisively. It's the newer unit and $300 cheaper ($899 vs $1,199), and it beats the AC200MAX on charging speed (under an hour vs ~2 hours), UPS (the MAX has none), solar input (1,200W vs 900W), output, quiet, and warranty (5 vs 4 years). Reviewers put it plainly: between the two, get the AC200L [A15]. Only consider the MAX if it's heavily discounted and you specifically need its higher surge.
Why is the newer AC200L cheaper than the older AC200MAX?
Because the AC200L is a newer, more efficient design that BLUETTI priced to replace the aging MAX, whose list price stayed high. It's not a downgrade — the AC200L charges faster, adds UPS, takes more solar, and lasts under warranty a year longer, all for $300 less, which is why it's also cheaper to own ($0.15 vs $0.17 per lifetime kWh).
Does the AC200MAX do anything better?
Two things: it surges higher (4,800W vs 3,600W), so it's a bit better at starting stubborn motor loads, and it's rated for slightly more cycles (3,500 vs 3,000). That's the whole list. Against the AC200L's lower price, faster charging, UPS, more solar, and longer warranty, those two edges rarely justify paying $300 more for the older unit.
Is the BLUETTI AC200MAX still worth buying?
Yes, with a caveat you should hear first: it's the previous generation of its own line, and reviewers consistently find it louder and slower to charge than the AC200L that replaced it [B1][B2][B3]. What you get for $1,199 is 2,048Wh, 2,200W continuous, 4,800W of surge, LFP rated at 3,500 cycles and a four-year warranty. If the gap to the newer unit's price is real for your budget, this is a lot of capable hardware. If it's narrow, buy the newer one.
Is the BLUETTI AC200MAX still worth buying now that the AC200L exists?
Against the AC200L, it's the older, slower-charging design with louder fans and a less polished app [A3]. Against the Yeti 1500X specifically, though, it still wins clearly: for $74 more at checkout, it carries a battery rated for seven times the charge cycles and comes with two extra years of warranty.
