EcoFlow has stopped selling the RIVER 3. The smallest RIVER 3 it still lists is the RIVER 3 PLUS, which means half of this page is a unit you can now only get second-hand or out of leftover retailer stock. The DJI Power 2000 wins by default, and it is worth saying up front that by default is doing real work in that sentence.

These two were never shopping against each other anyway. 245Wh against 2,048Wh, 7.8 lbs against 48.5: call it eight times the battery and six times the weight. That is not a close comparison with a winner, it is two different answers to two different questions. One of them you carry in a hand. The other you carry with two and then set down for good.

Which of those two people you are settles this page. If you wanted 2 kWh, the Power 2000 is a genuinely strong unit at that size and the only live one here. If you wanted the 7.8 lb box, and that is the natural reason to land on this pair, then the Power 2000 does not replace it and the RIVER 3 PLUS does.

02

What the Numbers Reveal

Each conclusion stated first — the numbers behind it on one line, the full analysis below.

F1

weight

So the retirement did not create a vacancy the Power 2000 can fill. The reader on this page was weighing a carry-it-anywhere box against a sit-in-the-hallway box, and only the small side of that question went away. EcoFlow answered it with the RIVER 3 PLUS, not with anything on the DJI shelf.

RIVER 3: 245Wh, 7.8 lbs, sealedPower 2000: 2,048Wh, 48.5 lbsRIVER 3 left EcoFlow's range on 2026-09-18; the successor is the RIVER 3 PLUS

Why it mattersIf the appeal was the 7.8 lbs, treat the Power 2000 as a different purchase rather than a step up, and go look at the RIVER 3 PLUS.

F2

continuous output

The Power 2000 sidesteps the whole distinction: 3,000W continuous is ten times the RIVER 3's 300W, enough that the load never reaches for headroom in the first place. Its surge figure is simply unpublished, which on this page costs it nothing, because nothing in the seven profiles gets near the continuous rating.

RIVER 3: 600W surge over a 300W continuous ratingTailgate Party profile peaks at 400WPower 2000: 3,000W continuous, with no published surge figure above it

Why it mattersIf you own a RIVER 3 and you are eyeing a blender or a 400W induction burner, the number that decides it is 300W, not 600W.

F3

Run the same derate on the Power 2000 and the story inverts. 96Wh left out of 1,741Wh is roughly 5% in the tank at the end of an eight-hour outage, so the unit that looks like eight times more battery than anyone needs is, for outage duty, sized about right and not a watt more. Bigger is not slack here. It is the job.

RIVER 3: 208Wh usable after the site's flat 85% derateCPAP Overnight profile asks 320Wh8-Hour Blackout asks 1,645Wh; the Power 2000 ends it with 96Wh of its 1,741Wh usable left

Why it mattersSize to the night you are actually protecting, not to the gap between the two boxes, because that gap reads as luxury on a camping weekend and as bare sufficiency in a blackout.

F4

Capacity

Which also means sealed is not a mark against the RIVER 3 here. A fixed 245Wh is what makes it a 7.8 lb box, and a 7.8 lb box was the entire point. It is a complete small thing, not an unfinished big one. The Power 2000's expansion slot only starts to matter to someone who expects to outgrow 2,048Wh, and that person was never cross-shopping a 245Wh unit.

RIVER 3: expandable No, fixed at 245WhPower 2000: 2,048Wh base, accepts DJI expansion batteries7.8 lbs against 48.5 lbs

Why it mattersIgnore the expandable column on this pair entirely; if 245Wh covered your job, a growth path you will never walk is the least interesting thing on the rival's spec sheet.

The specific dimensions that decide these two units — everything else is a tie.

Your Life, Your Pick

Selected because: Seven load profiles, and the split says more than the spec table does: four go to the Power 2000, two are beyond both units, and one, an afternoon of phones and a speaker at 100Wh, is the job the RIVER 3 was built for.

Four rows go to the Power 2000, two go to neither, and one goes to both, and that last one is the only row that explains why the RIVER 3 existed. Afternoon Off-Grid asks for 100Wh: phones, a speaker, an afternoon. The RIVER 3 finishes it having spent 48% of its usable charge. The Power 2000 finishes it having barely registered the request, and you carried 48.5 lbs to get there. That is the whole case for a small station, it is still a good case, and it now points at a different model.

Read the two neither rows before you decide that bigger is simply the fix. Weekend Camping wants 2,100Wh and Van Life Daily wants 4,685Wh; the Power 2000 comes up 359Wh short of the first and 2,944Wh short of the second. If either of those is your actual week, this page has no answer on it, and the thing to shop for is a station larger than both of these rather than the larger of these two.

Portability & Form Factor

Selected because: 7.8 lbs against 48.5 is a 40.7 lb gap, and it is the one thing on this page the Power 2000 cannot close no matter how good the rest of it is.

weight

Seven point eight pounds is a grocery bag. Forty-eight and a half is the lift where you bend your knees, check your grip and pick your destination before you start walking, and once it is down you tend to leave it there. Those are not two points on a portability scale. They are two categories of object that happen to share a product page.

The 40.7 lb difference between them is also why the retirement stings rather than resolves. A reader who wanted one-handed does not get talked into six times the weight by the fact that the one-handed unit stopped being listed. If the number that mattered was the one you could lift with a coffee in the other hand, that requirement survived the discontinuation perfectly intact, and so should your shortlist.

What the Specs Don't Tell You

Selected because: Four cards fire, and two of them say less than their columns imply: expansion cannot decide a pair whose base packs already differ by 1,803Wh, and a matched five-year warranty is not a tiebreaker.

rated cycles

Both units carry five years, both are rated for at least 3,000 cycles, and both list a UPS mode, which makes this an oddly well-matched pair for two boxes that share almost nothing else. The UPS ratings differ by class rather than by consequence: the Power 2000 is rated no worse than 10ms and the RIVER 3 no worse than 20ms, both stated ceilings rather than measurements, and either is fine for a router. Only a fussy desktop supply would notice the difference, and on the RIVER 3 the more pressing limit is that 208Wh of usable energy does not keep a desktop alive for long regardless of how cleanly the handover goes.

The card worth your attention is expansion, and it argues against its own column. The Power 2000's advantage over the RIVER 3 is its 2,048Wh base, not the batteries you can add to it; the expansion slot is a conversation for the buyer already sitting at 2,048Wh and running out. The warranty card is the other one to read differently than it renders, and it only changes behaviour if you already own a RIVER 3 rather than if you are choosing.

Brand Trust

Selected because: EcoFlow brings twelve to fifteen models and the category's largest owner community; DJI has been making power stations since 2024 — and it is the newcomer whose unit you can still buy.

EcoFlow runs twelve to fifteen models across three lines and the largest owner community in portable power, roughly 31,000 people on Reddit alone. On any other page that depth is the safer bet. Here it cuts the other way, because catalogue depth is also retirement cadence: the range that always has a successor ready is the range that keeps retiring things while you still own them.

DJI arrived in 2024 with five power station models and a repair network borrowed from the drone business, which is deep but has not yet been asked about a three-year-old Power 2000, because there is no such thing. Two practical catches before you buy: there is no built-in solar charge controller, so solar runs through a separate proprietary adapter, and the SDC fast-charging ports only earn their keep if you already own DJI gear. The DJI Home app sits at 3.5 out of 5, though that rating covers the entire DJI ecosystem including drones and cameras, so it is not a verdict on the power line. There is also no power-station community to ask at 11 p.m.; discussion happens inside r/dji, which is about 250,000 people who mostly fly things.

Scenario verdicts

We ran the math on seven real-world scenarios. Here's which unit survives your actual life.

SCN-01 · 2 nights · needs 2,100Wh

Weekend Camping

Two nights off-grid with essential comfort

Neither unit

Neither unit finishes this weekend. The RIVER 3 covers about a tenth of the 2,100Wh on the table; the Power 2000 gets to 83% and stops 359Wh short. The near-miss is the interesting half of that, because 359Wh is roughly one evening of slack and a camper with panels or one trimmed load would likely close it. Short is still short, though. Read the row honestly: this profile is bigger than either box, and the fix is a larger station, not the larger of these two.

8-Hour Blackout

Keep the essentials running through a night without power

Power 2000

The Power 2000 takes this row and it is not relaxed about it. 1,741Wh usable against the 1,645Wh an eight-hour outage asks leaves 96Wh at the end, about 5% in the tank, which is the margin between the lights staying on and a difficult conversation about the fridge. The RIVER 3 covers about 13% of the same night. That is not a failure of the small box so much as a category error; 245Wh was never bought to run an outage.

CPAP Overnight

Sleep therapy without interruption — the #1 medical use case

Power 2000

This is where the size gap stops being abstract and starts being 3 a.m. The night asks 320Wh and the RIVER 3 has about 208Wh usable, so it covers roughly two-thirds and the machine goes quiet before the night does. The Power 2000 finishes with 1,421Wh untouched, spending 18% of what it holds, which is less a compliment than a measurement. If CPAP is the entire reason you are shopping, neither of these is sized for it: one does not finish and the other is many times the box required. EcoFlow's RIVER 3 PLUS is the direction to look.

Neither unit

Neither unit covers this scenario's 4,685Wh: the RIVER 3 comes up 4,477Wh short (about 4% covered), the Power 2000 2,944Wh (37%). This is well outside what either unit is for; the right answer here is a larger station, not a choice between these two.

Either unit

Both of these cover an afternoon of phones and a speaker. 100Wh leaves the RIVER 3 at 48% of its usable charge and the Power 2000 practically unmoved, so the row is a dead heat on the numbers and nothing like one in practice: one of these you carried in a hand, the other in two. Conclusion

September 19, 2026

Verdict: the Power 2000, on Power Score margin

The Power 2000 wins for the plainest reason available: it is the only one of these two still sold. EcoFlow has dropped the base RIVER 3, so this page has exactly one live candidate on it. The DJI earns the slot on specs as well, not just by forfeit — 2,048Wh and 3,000W continuous carry the eight-hour blackout, the remote workday, the tailgate and the CPAP night, four rows the RIVER 3 misses outright. It does not carry everything: the weekend-camping profile wants 2,100Wh and the van-life profile 4,685Wh, and the Power 2000 finishes neither. Buy it if what you want is outage-scale backup in a box one person can still move. If what you liked about the RIVER 3 was that it weighed 7.8 lbs and disappeared into a daypack, the Power 2000 is not your upgrade. The RIVER 3 PLUS is the model EcoFlow points that buyer at, and that is the comparison worth making instead of this one.

Class ranking (the star rating)

Each unit's star score is a category ranking, not customer reviews — no buyer opinions feed it. We score every station on size-independent quality (value, output, portability, endurance, ports, warranty, and more), then percentile-rank it against the other units in its capacity class, so a class-leading compact unit and a class-leading whole-home unit can both earn 5★. Here, RIVER 3 rates 4.1/5 (50th percentile of 25 Personal-class units), and Power 2000 rates 4.4/5 (63rd percentile of 28 Large-class units).

Test Notes & Caveats

Hidden gotchas and advantages we spotted that you won't find on the product page.

[NOTE]

Expansion Is Not What Decides This

The column says the Power 2000 expands and the RIVER 3 does not, and on this particular pair that is the least useful line on the card. The Power 2000's base pack holds 2,048Wh against the RIVER 3's fixed 245Wh, so it is already 1,803Wh ahead before an expansion battery is attached. The slot only starts to matter for someone who expects to outgrow 2,048Wh, which is a different conversation from this one. And sealed is not a flaw on a 7.8 lb box. It is most of the reason it weighs 7.8 lbs. The RIVER 3 is a complete small thing, not an unfinished big one.

[NOTE]

UPS Switchover: ≤10ms vs ≤20ms

Both list a UPS mode, at different rated speeds. The Power 2000 is rated ≤10ms — quick enough on paper that desktop PCs and routers should ride through, treating that as the rating it is. The RIVER 3 is rated ≤20ms — fine on paper for routers and most electronics; the fussiest PC power supplies sit right at this line. If a computer with unsaved work is the thing being protected, the stated class is worth the attention; nothing here is a lab result.

[NOTE]

Warranty: Same Five Years, Different Tails

Both records carry five years, so the term settles nothing between them. DJI's is an up-to figure that holds when you buy from DJI's own store, which is where the full five years is advertised; EcoFlow's five is the term our record carries for the RIVER 3. What actually matters here is not the length but what sits past it. EcoFlow does not offer parts or service once a unit is out of warranty, and a model that has left the range does not get easier to support as it ages. If you own a RIVER 3, those five years are the window in which a fault is somebody else's problem, so register it and keep the receipt.

[NOTE]

Battery Lifespan in Real Years

The Power 2000 is rated for 4,000 cycles vs 3,000. In real life: at daily use, that's 11 vs 8.2 years. At weekend use (twice a week), it's 38 vs 29 years. One caution reading years across different sizes: a cycle is 2,048Wh on the Power 2000 and 245Wh on the RIVER 3, so count lifetime energy — roughly 8,192 kWh against 735 kWh over the rated life. After hitting the cycle limit, the battery doesn't die — it drops to ~80% of original capacity, which is still very usable.

Analyst note

The RIVER 3 is no longer sold, so there is no price to work its cost per kWh from, and this comparison doesn't quote one. On what you can actually buy today, the Power 2000 works out at $0.16/kWh over its rated life. If you already own the RIVER 3, the hardware comparison still holds: over its rated life the RIVER 3 delivers about 735 kWh and the Power 2000 about 8,192 kWh.

EcoFlow

Ecosystem

Largest in portable power — 12-15 models across DELTA Pro, DELTA 3, and RIVER 3 series, plus solar panels and smart home panels

Support

US-based phone/email/chat support (1-800-368-8604). Experiences are polarized — many report hassle-free prepaid-label replacements, but others report long waits and refurbished units sent for new claims. Pro tip: buying from Costco or Amazon gives you a stronger return safety net.

Community

Largest community in the space — Reddit r/Ecoflow_community (~31K members), multiple Facebook groups, and an official community forum

App experience

Rated 4.6/5 iOS (~8,400 ratings) · 4.2/5 Android (~17,000 ratings)

Unique strength

Fastest-charging technology (X-Stream), deepest product ecosystem, and most active innovation cadence. At the top of the range sit two whole-home paths: the TITAN line, one 5 kWh unit that grows to 30 kWh, and the DELTA Pro Ultra platform, which stacks batteries and inverters further — flagship paths, not line-wide features.

Worth knowing

EcoFlow's scale is the reassuring part and the complicating part at once. Twelve to fifteen models across three lines means there is always a successor when something goes away, and the RIVER 3 PLUS is this one's. It also means models retire while you still own them, and EcoFlow does not offer parts or service outside the warranty period. Support runs hot and cold: prepaid-label replacements that go through without friction, and claims that drag and come back with a refurbished unit against a new-unit request. Buying through Costco or Amazon gives you a return path that does not depend on which version you get.

DJI

Ecosystem

New entrant (2024) — five power station models to date: Power 500, Power 1000 (since superseded by the V2 but still sold), Power 1000 V2, Power 1000 Mini, Power 2000. Buying a "Power 1000" listing? Check which revision it actually ships.

Support

Leveraging DJI's established global support and repair center network from the drone business. Generally positive reputation inherited from drone operations, but limited power-station-specific track record.

Community

No dedicated power station community yet. Discussions happen within r/dji (~250K members, mostly drone users). Very small power-specific presence on Facebook and forums.

App experience

Rated 3.5/5 iOS and Android (DJI Home app ratings reflect entire DJI ecosystem including drones/cameras, not power-station-specific). Users report the on-device screen is more reliable than the app.

Unique strength

Runs quiet — 23-30dB published on most of the range (manufacturer best-case figures), at the quiet end of the category; our record carries no figure for the Power 1000 V2. Fast wall charging, quickest on the Power 1000 V2 at ~56 min — that figure is the V2's, not the whole line's. 700+ battery patents from drone R&D. SDC ports for ultra-fast DJI drone charging. Premium industrial design and build quality. LFP batteries rated for 4,000+ cycles.

Worth knowing

DJI has been building power stations since 2024, with five models out, and the repair network behind them is the drone business's, which is genuinely deep. It is also the case that nobody has owned a Power 2000 for three years yet. Two practical gaps: there is no built-in solar charge controller, so solar runs through a separate proprietary adapter, and the SDC fast-charging ports only pay off if you already own DJI gear. There is no dedicated power-station community either, so questions land in r/dji among about 250,000 people who are mostly there for drones.

Analyst note

On any other page EcoFlow's depth would be the safer bet: a bigger catalogue, a far bigger owner community, more years of field data behind the badge. Here it is the brand whose unit left the shelf, and DJI is the newcomer holding the only live product in the comparison. That is less an endorsement of DJI than a reminder that catalogue depth runs both ways. The range that always has a successor ready is also the range that keeps making successors necessary.

Growth path

RIVER 3

FIXED CAPACITY

Fixed at 245Wh, with no expansion — so size it for your needs up front rather than planning to add capacity later.

Accepts up to 110W of solar. Limited to a single portable panel.

Limited ports. You'll likely need a power strip or splitter.

Power 2000

EXPANDABLE

Supports DJI expansion batteries, so you can add capacity later without replacing the base unit — useful if your needs may climb past 2,048Wh.

Accepts up to 1,800W of solar. Enough for a serious multi-panel array.

Generous port selection supports complex multi-device setups.

Expansion batteries are DJI-specific. You're investing in the DJI ecosystem.

RIVER 3Power 2000

Analyst note

Growth only counts if you can still buy in, and the RIVER 3 is no longer sold (EcoFlow points owners to the RIVER 3 PLUS). That leaves the Power 2000: it starts at 2,048Wh and takes DJI expansion batteries, so the ceiling moves if your needs do. The RIVER 3's fixed 245Wh still matters if you already own one, but it isn't a reason to pick it over the Power 2000.

What Owners Report

Patterns from published owner reports and long-term reviews — every claim cited to its source below.

EcoFlow RIVER 3

The field record for the RIVER 3 is thin and almost entirely comparative. What exists measures it against the RIVER 2 rather than reporting on living with it, and it comes from review sites and EcoFlow's own comparison materials rather than long-term owners, so read it as directionalA0. Within that limit it is consistent: the RIVER 3 is rated under 30 dB, and on the RIVER line that figure is published as a ceiling reached at high charge or discharge rather than a best-case floor, so a light load sits below itA1. Over the RIVER 2 it adds IP54 weather sealing, a faster UPS switchover, a 2x runtime mode and a smaller, lighter bodyA2, and it held more capacity while weighing less than the unit it replaced, which made it a rare straight upgrade on the same platformA4.

Reviewers recommended it for camping, van life and home UPS duty specifically on durability and noiseA3. None of that has stopped being true. It is simply all about a box EcoFlow no longer takes orders for, which is why the useful version of that praise now lives on the RIVER 3 PLUS listing rather than this one.

“The RIVER 3 operates under 30 dB — EcoFlow calls it 'whisper quiet,' quieter than a library — one of the most significant upgrades over the louder RIVER 2.”

DJI Power 2000

The Power 2000's record is recent, uniformly positive and short on years: strong review coverage, very little long-term owner data, because the unit has not been out long enough to have anyB0. Charging is the headline. Reviewers measured a full wall charge in about 90 minutes, some closer to an hour, and a full solar refill in roughly 75 minutes on 1,800W of inputB1. For a blackout that is the spec that matters more than capacity, because an outage does not schedule itself around your charging window.

Noise came in around 29 dB at five feet when the fan engaged, and it stayed among the quietest units tested even under the heaviest loadsB2. That is a measured figure at a stated distance rather than a published one, so it is not directly comparable with a catalogue number, but it is the kind of result that matters if the unit is running in the room you sleep in. The build draws the other consistent praise: flame-retardant materials, a nano-coated BMS, 26 temperature sensors, 21 fuses and a frame rated to hold a one-ton static loadB3. In use, reviewers ran everything they had through it, and it handled surges and recharged fast, particularly from solarB4.

“Among the fastest-charging tested — a full wall charge in about 90 minutes (reviewers measured even faster, roughly an hour), and up to 1,800W of solar input for a full solar charge in about 75 minutes.”

Who Should Buy Which

Buy the RIVER 3 if you…

  • →You already own a RIVER 3 and came here to learn whether you got beaten. You did not. You bought a 7.8 lb box that does 7.8 lb jobs, it is rated for at least 3,000 cycles, and at weekend use that is decades of service ahead of it.
  • →You have found one in leftover retailer stock and the job is genuinely small: phones, a laptop, a camp light, a speaker across an afternoon. 208Wh of usable energy covers the 100Wh afternoon profile with more than half left over.
  • →You need power that one person carries a mile from the car, in one hand, without planning the route. Nothing on the DJI side of this page does that, at any price.

Buy the Power 2000 if you…

  • →The eight-hour blackout is the thing you are actually buying for: fridge, a few lights, the router, phones on rotation. 1,741Wh of usable energy finishes that night with about 96Wh in reserve, and the sub-10ms UPS rating means the desktop should ride through the handover.
  • →You want one box to cover the whole house-adjacent job rather than staging two. 3,000W continuous starts and holds essentially anything on a household circuit, and there is an expansion path if your needs eventually climb past 2,048Wh.
  • →You already shoot DJI. The SDC ports charge DJI batteries fast, which is a real perk if you own the gear and worth nothing at all if you do not.

This is you — check the Power 2000 price

If neither fits

Anyone who came here wanting the small box should skip both. That is the natural reason to land on this pair, and the Power 2000 is not the answer to it: 48.5 lbs is not a replacement for 7.8, and no amount of extra capacity makes it one. EcoFlow's named successor to the RIVER 3 is the RIVER 3 PLUS, and the sensible next click is that comparison rather than this one. Separately, if your week looks like the van-life profile at 4,685Wh a day, neither unit here is close — the Power 2000 finishes 2,944Wh short of it — and you want a considerably larger station or a properly built 12V house system, not either box on this page.

09

The Bottom Line

The Power 2000 takes this page because it is the only one of the two still on sale, and it is a strong unit on its own terms rather than a technicality: 2,048Wh and 3,000W continuous carry the blackout, the workday, the tailgate and the CPAP night, in a box one person can still move. The blackout row is the one that earns it. 96Wh left out of 1,741Wh usable is not spare capacity, it is a unit sized correctly for the night it was bought for.

But do not let a delisting rewrite what you came for. Eight times the battery and six times the weight is not an upgrade path, it is a different shelf. If the RIVER 3 was on your list because it weighed 7.8 lbs and went wherever you did, the Power 2000 is not the box that replaces it. The RIVER 3 PLUS is. Go look at that one.

10

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers drawn from the spec record and cited owner research.

Is the EcoFlow RIVER 3 discontinued?

Yes. EcoFlow no longer sells the base RIVER 3, and the smallest RIVER 3 still in its range is the RIVER 3 PLUS. You may still find the original in retailer stock or second-hand, and it works exactly as specified: 245Wh, 300W continuous, 7.8 lbs. There is no price shown for it on this page because there is no longer a maker's listing behind one.

Can the DJI Power 2000 replace a RIVER 3?

Only if the RIVER 3 was the wrong size for you in the first place. It replaces the capacity many times over, 2,048Wh against 245Wh, but it weighs 48.5 lbs against 7.8, so it replaces nothing about why anyone picks a small station. If the RIVER 3 was doing its job and you simply want another one, the RIVER 3 PLUS is the model to look at.

Will a RIVER 3 run a CPAP all night?

Not a full night on this page's profile. The CPAP row asks 320Wh and the RIVER 3 has about 208Wh usable after the flat 85% derate applied to every unit here, so it covers roughly two-thirds of the night and stops before morning. The Power 2000 finishes the same night with 1,421Wh untouched, using 18% of what it holds, which tells you it is not the marginal one so much as an enormous amount of box for the job.

Does the DJI Power 2000's expansion battery matter in this comparison?

No. Its base pack already holds 1,803Wh more than the RIVER 3's fixed 245Wh, so the capacity question is settled before expansion enters it. Expandability only becomes a real argument for a buyer who expects to outgrow 2,048Wh, which is partial-home-backup territory and a different shopping trip. On this pair, treat the expandable column as decoration.

I own a RIVER 3 — does anything change now that it is discontinued?

Nothing day to day. It still holds 245Wh, still delivers 300W continuous, and is still rated for at least 3,000 cycles, which at twice-weekly use is decades of service. What changes is the tail end: EcoFlow does not offer parts or service once a unit is out of warranty, so the five years on our record for this model is the window in which a fault is somebody else's problem. Register it if you have not, and keep the receipt somewhere you will find it.
