EcoFlow DELTA 3 vs EcoFlow DELTA 3000 Gen4Three Times the Battery, and It Will Never Grow. Buy It Once?
EcoFlow DELTA 3 vs EcoFlow DELTA 3000 Gen4: the DELTA 4 (3000) holds 3,072 Wh against 1,024 Wh and runs 3,600 W against 1,800 W, at a bit over twice the weight, and it can never add a battery. For blackout backup I'd buy it. Pick the DELTA 3 if your loads are small, it rides in your car, or you want to grow one battery at a time.

Gunner’s take
Whole-Home Backup Tester
EcoFlow gave the DELTA 4 (3000) three times the DELTA 3's battery and no way to add more.
It holds 3,072 Wh against 1,024 Wh, and there's no extra-battery port on it anywhereB6. The DELTA 3 starts smaller and takes extra batteries. So this is a choice between buying the size once and growing into it.
The inverter doubled too, and that's what I'd feel first in a blackout.
The DELTA 4 (3000) runs 3,600 W and surges to 7,200 W at 120 VB2, against 1,800 W and 3,600 W on the DELTA 3. I wire houses for a living, so the arithmetic jumps out: 3,600 W at 120 V is 30 A, which is exactly what its twist-lock outlet is rated forB2B3. On the DELTA 3 it's the microwave or the coffee maker. On the DELTA 4 (3000) it's both at once.
It lists at $1,699, against $629 for the DELTA 3.
That's $1,070 more, but per watt-hour the DELTA 4 (3000) is the slightly cheaper box, and it's rated for 6,000 cycles against at least 4,000. EcoFlow says it ships in early DecemberB10. The DELTA 3 is on sale now.
What the Numbers Reveal
Each conclusion stated first — the numbers behind it on one line, the full analysis below.
Capacity
Up to 3,072 Wh, the DELTA 3's expansion buys back capacity the DELTA 4 (3000) ships with, in two boxes and a cable instead of one, and the big box already costs less per watt-hour. Past 3,072 Wh the DELTA 3 is the only one of the two that can keep going. That is the one question the sealed box can never answer.
DELTA 3: 1,024 Wh, takes EcoFlow extra batteriesDELTA 4 (3000): 3,072 Wh, no extra-battery portB6DELTA 4 (3000): a little cheaper per watt-hour than the DELTA 3
Why it mattersIf you're sure 3,072 Wh covers your worst night, buy it once. If you can't say yet, the DELTA 3 keeps the question open.
continuous output
Surge is what starts a compressor or a pump. The DELTA 3's surge rating is the DELTA 4 (3000)'s continuous rating, so whatever the small box can only manage for the moment a motor kicks on, the big one carries all evening. In a blackout that's the difference between taking turns at the outlet and not thinking about it.
DELTA 3: 1,800 W continuous, 3,600 W surgeDELTA 4 (3000): 3,600 W continuous, 7,200 W surge at 120 VB2DELTA 4 (3000): one twist-lock outlet rated 30 AB3
Why it mattersIf your outage list has a motor in it, the inverter decides this before the battery does.
The handoff is a tie, so the router doesn't care which box caught it. What differs is when the lights go out again. A box that covers half the night hands you a choice in the small hours about which half of the house to unplug.
8-Hour Blackout needs 1,645 WhDELTA 3: 870 Wh usable after a flat 15% allowanceDELTA 4 (3000): 2,611 Wh usableBoth switch over in no worse than 10 ms
Why it mattersIf you're buying for outages, size for the whole night, because both boxes catch the drop equally well.
The specific dimensions that decide these two units — everything else is a tie.
Growth Path
Selected because: The DELTA 3 takes extra batteries. The DELTA 4 (3000) starts at three times the size and stops there.
solar input
The DELTA 3's battery port is a real option, but here it mostly buys back what the DELTA 4 (3000) already holds. Getting the small box to 3,072 Wh takes twice its own capacity again in extra batteries and a second box on the floor. It only pulls ahead past that size, and past that size is the one place the DELTA 4 (3000) can't follow.
My pick's honest weakness is that 3,072 Wh is the ceiling for good. EcoFlow lists expansion only for the bigger DELTA 4, not this oneB6. If a chest freezer joins the outage list later, the upgrade is a second station. If you can't rule that out, the DELTA 3 or the bigger DELTA 4 keeps the door open.
Your Life, Your Pick
Selected because: The DELTA 3 runs 775 Wh short of an eight-hour blackout, and the DELTA 4 (3000) finishes with 966 Wh left.
Half a night isn't a night. On its own the DELTA 3 covers about half our eight-hour blackout and runs out 775 Wh early. The DELTA 4 (3000) finishes with 966 Wh left. The weekend camping load is the same story bigger: the DELTA 3 is 1,230 Wh short, and the DELTA 4 (3000) covers it with 511 Wh to spare.
The remote workday is the near miss worth knowing about. The DELTA 3 falls 40 Wh short, so one small gadget fewer and it finishes. A CPAP night and a tailgate both fit in the DELTA 3 with room left. For jobs that size, the bigger box is battery you carry and never touch.
Lifetime Value
Selected because: Both carry rated cycle counts, and the sealed box is the cheaper energy over its life.
cost / lifetime kWh
Over its life, the sealed box is the cheaper energy. The DELTA 4 (3000) works out at $0.09 per lifetime kilowatt-hour against $0.15 for the DELTA 3, well under two-thirds the cost. Three times the battery and half again the rated cycles is what does it.
That figure only pays out if you actually cycle the battery. A box that sits at full charge waiting for an outage never collects it. If you run it every weekend or off solar daily, it's a real reason to buy once. For a closet backup that sees a few outages a year, the price gap matters more than the lifetime figure.
Portability & Form Factor
Selected because: 27 lb against 57.3 lb, and only the light one has a car socket.
weight
The DELTA 3 is the one that goes places. At 27 lb it's a one-hand carry to the car, and it has a car socket for a cooler on the drive. The DELTA 4 (3000) weighs 57.3 lb, carries by a handle at each end, and EcoFlow sells its cart separatelyB7. It has no car socket at allB3.
Per pound, the trade runs the other way. The DELTA 4 (3000) carries three times the battery for a bit over twice the weight. If it lives beside the fridge, you lift it once and stop thinking about it.

A CPAP is about 40W for eight hours, so both of these cover the night at least twice over — capacity isn't the question here. The only published difference is fan noise, and it can't settle this: the DELTA 3 is rated 30dB and the DELTA 3000 Gen4 40dB, but the DELTA 3's is its maker's best case and the DELTA 3000 Gen4's is EcoFlow's maximum under heavy charge and discharge, so at a 40W draw the real gap can only be narrower than it looks, and may even run the other way. Neither settles which box is quieter at a bedside. Buy whichever is cheaper or easier to carry.

Conclusion
November 4, 2026
Verdict: the DELTA 3000 Gen4, on Power Score margin
For blackout backup, I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3000). It holds 3,072 Wh against 1,024 Wh, runs 3,600 W against 1,800 W, and at $1,699 against $629 it costs a little less per watt-hour than the DELTA 3. On its own the DELTA 3 runs 775 Wh short of our eight-hour blackout. The DELTA 3 is the better buy if your load is a CPAP or a laptop, if the box rides in your car at 27 lb, or if you'd rather add batteries one at a time, because the DELTA 4 (3000) has no battery port at allB6. That sealed ceiling and a wait until early December for it to shipB10 keep this a firm lean rather than a lock.
Today the DELTA 3 is $579, $50 under its typical $629. The verdict weighs typical prices, not today's. Prices checked 31 days ago.

Each unit's star score is a category ranking, not customer reviews — no buyer opinions feed it. We score every station on size-independent quality (value, output, portability, endurance, ports, warranty, and more), then percentile-rank it against the other units in its capacity class, so a class-leading compact unit and a class-leading whole-home unit can both earn 5★. Here, DELTA 3 rates 4.5/5 (73rd percentile of 27 Everyday-class units), and DELTA 3000 Gen4 rates 4.8/5 (86th percentile of 29 Large-class units).

Hidden gotchas and advantages we spotted that you won't find on the product page.
What You Buy Is the Ceiling
The DELTA 4 (3000) has no extra-battery port, so 3,072 Wh is the most it will ever hold. The DELTA 3 starts at 1,024 Wh and takes extra batteries, which only beats the bigger box once you'd want more than 3,072 Wh.
Warranty: No Difference
Both units carry the same 5-year warranty, so coverage isn't a tiebreaker here. Both figures are maximums rather than guarantees — they depend on registering the unit in the EcoFlow app, which adds two years to a three-year standard term. Worth saying because the per-dollar framing can suggest otherwise: the DELTA 3 works out at 7.9 years of cover per $1,000 spent against the DELTA 3000 Gen4's 2.9, but that spread is the price gap, not the terms.
Battery Lifespan in Real Years
The DELTA 3000 Gen4 is rated for 6,000 cycles vs 4,000. In real life: at daily use, that's 16.4 vs 11 years. At weekend use (twice a week), it's 58 vs 38 years. One caution reading years across different sizes: a cycle is 3,072Wh on the DELTA 3000 Gen4 and 1,024Wh on the DELTA 3, so count lifetime energy — roughly 18,432 kWh against 4,096 kWh over the rated life. After hitting the cycle limit, the battery doesn't die — it drops to ~80% of original capacity, which is still very usable.

Analyst note
The DELTA 3 is cheaper to buy, but the DELTA 3000 Gen4 is cheaper to own. At $0.09/kWh over its lifetime vs $0.15/kWh, the DELTA 3000 Gen4's higher cycle life and capacity make each dollar go further over the years.

EXPANDABLESupports EcoFlow expansion batteries, so you can add capacity later without replacing the base unit — useful if your needs may climb past 1,024Wh.
Accepts up to 500W of solar. Suitable for a 1-2 panel setup.
Generous port selection supports complex multi-device setups.
Expansion batteries are EcoFlow-specific. You're investing in the EcoFlow ecosystem.
DELTA 3000 Gen4
FIXED CAPACITYFixed at 3,072Wh — a sealed, complete system rather than a starting point. There's no expansion port, so that figure is the ceiling: check it against your longest unplugged stretch before you buy.
Accepts up to 1,000W of solar. Enough for a serious multi-panel array.
Adequate ports for most setups, but heavy users may want a power strip.
Realistic full solar rechargeat 70% of rated panel output — see methodology
Analyst note
Don't read the DELTA 3's expandability as a straight win here: it starts at 1,024Wh, below the DELTA 3000 Gen4's 3,072Wh, so a first expansion battery largely buys back capacity the DELTA 3000 Gen4 already includes. It only pulls ahead if you'd grow past 3,072Wh — short of that, the DELTA 3000 Gen4's larger fixed capacity is the simpler value.

EcoFlow DELTA 3
Field evidence on the plain DELTA 3 is thinner than its name suggests. Our research found most published testing covers the Plus, Max and Ultra versionsA0. One hands-on review found the fans stay off under 200 W, which means a CPAP or a router running in silenceA1. A switchover test where routers rode through a power cut was on the DELTA 3 Plus, which shares the 10 ms ratingA2, so I count it as a family trait, not a test of this box.
“At low loads (under 200W) the fans often stay completely off, making the Delta 3 effectively silent; under moderate load (500–800W) the fans are barely audible from three feet away.”

EcoFlow DELTA 3000 Gen4
Nobody owns a DELTA 4 (3000) yet. EcoFlow put it on sale in the US on November 4 and says it ships in early DecemberB10. Everything on this page about it comes from EcoFlow's US spec sheet and our arithmeticB0B4.
The test I'd run first is the kitchen breaker. EcoFlow rates wall charging at 1,800 W, which is 15 A at 120 V, the whole of an ordinary 15 A circuitB4. I'd plug it into a kitchen outlet at the full rate, start the toaster on the same circuit, and see whether the breaker or the app gives first. EcoFlow's own advice for a shared circuit is to turn the charge rate down in the appB4.
“Capacity 3,072 Wh, LFP (LiFePO4) cells. EcoFlow sells it as the DELTA 3000 Gen4; buyers and the press call the pair the DELTA 4.”

- →You're buying for blackouts. It finishes our eight-hour night with 966 Wh left.
- →Your outage list has a motor in it. 3,600 W continuous and 7,200 W surge, twice the DELTA 3 on both.
- →You know 3,072 Wh is enough for good. It can't grow, so size it right once.
- →You have a 30 A twist-lock cord. It has one such outlet beside four 20 A outletsB3.
If neither fits
If a day looks like Van Life Daily at 4,685 Wh, skip both. The DELTA 4 (3000) runs 2,074 Wh short and can't expand. Look at the bigger DELTA 4 or the DELTA Pro 3, which take extra batteries.
The Bottom Line
For the night the grid goes down, I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3000). Three times the battery, twice the inverter, and it finishes the blackout the DELTA 3 only gets halfway through.
If your loads are small, the box travels, or you want to grow one battery at a time, buy the DELTA 3. It's on sale now, it's 27 lb, and it's the one of the two that can still grow.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers drawn from the spec record and cited owner research.
How much is the EcoFlow DELTA 4 (3000) in the US?
It lists at $1,699 at EcoFlow's US store, against $629 for the DELTA 3. EcoFlow says it ships in early December.
Can the DELTA 4 (3000) add an extra battery like the DELTA 3?
No. It has no extra-battery port, so 3,072 Wh is its ceiling. The DELTA 3 starts at 1,024 Wh and takes EcoFlow extra batteries.
Will the DELTA 3 get through an overnight blackout?
Not our eight-hour one on its own. That night needs 1,645 Wh and the DELTA 3 has about 870 Wh usable, so it runs 775 Wh short. The DELTA 4 (3000) finishes with 966 Wh left.
Which one charges faster from solar?
The DELTA 4 (3000) takes up to 1,000 W through one input, against 500 W on the DELTA 3. It also has three times the battery to fill, so at full rated input the DELTA 3 fills in about 2 hours and the DELTA 4 (3000) in about 3.
Can the DELTA 4 (3000) charge from a normal wall outlet?
Yes. EcoFlow rates it at up to 1,800 W from a US outlet, which is 15 A at 120 V, the full rating of an ordinary 15 A circuit. On a circuit you share with other appliances, set a lower charge rate in the EcoFlow app.
