Gunner’s take

Whole-Home Backup Tester

Same battery, same inverter, 17 lb apart.

The DELTA 3 Ultra Plus and the DELTA 4 (3000) both hold 3,072 Wh and run 3,600 W continuously with a 7,200 W surgeB1B2. The Ultra Plus weighs 74.3 lb and the DELTA 4 weighs 57.3 lbB7. So the real question is what the heavier box gives you back.

It gives you the parts that let a battery stand on its own.

The Ultra Plus takes EcoFlow's extra batteries, and the DELTA 4 has no port for oneB6. It takes 1,600 W of solar against 1,000 W through the DELTA 4's single inputB5. It also has an RV-style 30 A outlet and a 12 V car socket. The DELTA 4's 30 A outlet is a twist-lock, and it has no car socketB3.

Price barely splits them.

The Ultra Plus sells for $1,599 and the DELTA 4 (3000) is listed at $1,699, a gap of $100, and EcoFlow says the DELTA 4 ships in early DecemberB10. What the new box brings is a lighter carry and a longer cycle rating: 6,000 cycles against 4,000.

02

What the Numbers Reveal

Each conclusion stated first — the numbers behind it on one line, the full analysis below.

F1

solar input

Through 1,000 W the DELTA 4 needs a little over three hours of perfect sun to fill from empty. Through 1,600 W the Ultra Plus needs under two. A December storm leaves you only a few strong hours a day, and the Ultra Plus is the one likely to finish refilling inside them.

Both hold 3,072 WhB1DELTA 3 Ultra Plus: 1,600 W of solar inputDELTA 4 (3000): one solar input, 11 to 60 V, up to 1,000 WB5

Why it mattersIf panels are how you'll refill during an outage, buy the Ultra Plus.

F2

The Ultra Plus can close that 2,074 Wh gap with a battery added to the box you already own. The DELTA 4 can't close it at any price. Its answer to a bigger need is a second station, and that weighs a lot more than 17 lb.

DELTA 3 Ultra Plus: takes EcoFlow expansion batteriesDELTA 4 (3000): no extra-battery port, sealed at 3,072 WhB6Van Life Daily needs 4,685 Wh: both fall 2,074 Wh short

Why it mattersIf there's any chance you'll want more battery later, the Ultra Plus's extra weight is a fair price for the port.

F3

rated cycles

A backup box that empties a few times a year will never see 4,000 cycles, let alone 6,000, and lifted once into a closet the 17 lb is a one-time cost. The DELTA 4 earns its keep in a cabin that cycles it every night, or with a camper who lifts it every weekend.

DELTA 4 (3000): rated for 6,000 cycles; DELTA 3 Ultra Plus: 4,000At one full cycle a day, that's 16.4 years against 11DELTA 4 (3000): 57.3 lb against 74.3 lb

Why it mattersIf that's your life, the DELTA 4 (3000) is the better box; if it's a closet and a storm, it isn't.

The specific dimensions that decide these two units — everything else is a tie.

Growth Path

Selected because: The same 3,072 Wh today, but only the Ultra Plus can add to it.

solar input

The port is most of what the Ultra Plus's extra weight carries. It takes EcoFlow's extra batteries. The DELTA 4 (3000) has no battery port at allB6, so 3,072 Wh is its ceiling for as long as you own it.

I'd skip the port only if I knew the job for good. A box that keeps a fridge and a router going through a one-night outage never needs one. A box that starts a home-backup plan should have somewhere to go. If you like the DELTA 4 and want room to grow, EcoFlow put the battery port on the bigger DELTA 4 insteadB6.

Portability & Form Factor

Selected because: 74.3 lb against 57.3 lb for the same battery and the same inverter.

weight

Seventeen pounds is the difference between one person and two. The DELTA 4 is 57.3 lb with a handle at each end, and EcoFlow sells a cart for it separatelyB7. One reviewer called the Ultra Plus's 74 pounds thunderousA9. That's about where I stop carrying things down basement stairs alone.

Weight only costs you when the box moves. Parked beside the fridge, you lift either one once. If it rides to a campsite every month, the DELTA 4 saves you 17 lb each way, every trip.

What the Specs Don't Tell You

Selected because: The DELTA 4 (3000) carries the longer cycle rating; the Ultra Plus carries the RV outlet and the car socket.

rated cycles

The DELTA 4's real spec win is its cycle rating. EcoFlow rates it for 6,000 cycles against the Ultra Plus's 4,000. Run flat every day, that's 16.4 years against 11. For a cabin on solar that's worth paying for. A unit that only comes out for storms will never reach either number.

The outlets favor the Ultra Plus if you camp in an RV. Its 30 A outlet is the RV kind, and it has a 12 V car socket. The DELTA 4's 30 A outlet is a twist-lock, and it has no car socketB3. One reviewer found the Ultra Plus shuts its 30 A outlet first when overloadedA3, which is worth knowing if your RV hangs off it.

Your Life, Your Pick

Selected because: Identical batteries give identical results: five scenarios on both, Van Life Daily on neither.

Same battery, same results, row for row. Both finish Weekend Camping at 80% used and the 8-hour blackout with 966 Wh left. Both switch to battery within 10 ms when the grid drops, so a router or a desktop rides through on either.

Van Life Daily asks for 4,685 Wh, and both come up 2,074 Wh short. Only the Ultra Plus can add a battery to close that. On the DELTA 4, the fix is a second station.

CPAP Overnight

Sleep therapy without interruption — the #1 medical use case

Either unit

A CPAP is about 40W for eight hours, so both of these cover the night several times over — capacity isn't the question here. The only published difference is fan noise, and it can't settle this: the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus is rated 30dB and the DELTA 3000 Gen4 40dB, but the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus's is its maker's best case and the DELTA 3000 Gen4's is EcoFlow's maximum under heavy charge and discharge, so at a 40W draw the real gap can only be narrower than it looks, and may even run the other way. Neither settles which box is quieter at a bedside. Buy whichever is cheaper or easier to carry.

Conclusion

November 4, 2026

Verdict: the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus

I'd buy the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus. Both hold 3,072 Wh and run 3,600 W with a 7,200 W surgeB1B2, so every scenario we run comes out identical. For about the same money, $1,599 against $1,699, the Ultra Plus adds an expansion port, 1,600 W of solar input against 1,000 WB5, an RV outlet and a 12 V car socket. The DELTA 4 (3000) answers with 17 lb less weight and a 6,000-cycle rating against 4,000. If you'll carry it every month and cycle it every day, those two are worth more than the ports, and the call flips.

Class ranking (the star rating)

Each unit's star score is a category ranking, not customer reviews — no buyer opinions feed it. We score every station on size-independent quality (value, output, portability, endurance, ports, warranty, and more), then percentile-rank it against the other units in its capacity class, so a class-leading compact unit and a class-leading whole-home unit can both earn 5★. Here, DELTA 3 Ultra Plus rates 4.9/5 (93rd percentile of 29 Large-class units), and DELTA 3000 Gen4 rates 4.8/5 (86th percentile of 29 Large-class units).

Test Notes & Caveats

Hidden gotchas and advantages we spotted that you won't find on the product page.

[NOTE]

17 lb Heavier, and What It Carries

The DELTA 3 Ultra Plus weighs 74.3 lb and the DELTA 4 (3000) 57.3 lb, for the same 3,072 Wh and the same 3,600 W. What the Ultra Plus has in that extra weight: an expansion port, 600 W more solar input, an RV outlet and a car socket.

[NOTE]

Same Battery Today, Different Ceiling

Both hold 3,072 Wh. The DELTA 4 (3000) has no expansion port, so that's all it will ever hold. The DELTA 3 Ultra Plus takes EcoFlow's extra batteries.

[NOTE]

Warranty: No Difference

Both units carry the same 5-year warranty, so coverage isn't a tiebreaker here. Both figures are maximums rather than guarantees — they depend on registering the unit in the EcoFlow app, which adds two years to a three-year standard term.

[NOTE]

Longer Life, If You Use It

The DELTA 4 (3000) is rated for 6,000 cycles and the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus for 4,000. At one cycle a day that's 16.4 years against 11. Used a few times a year for outages, neither gets close.

EXPANDABLE

Supports EcoFlow expansion batteries, so you can add capacity later without replacing the base unit — useful if your needs may climb past 3,072Wh.

Accepts up to 1,600W of solar. Enough for a serious multi-panel array.

Adequate ports for most setups, but heavy users may want a power strip.

Expansion batteries are EcoFlow-specific. You're investing in the EcoFlow ecosystem.

DELTA 3000 Gen4

FIXED CAPACITY

Fixed at 3,072Wh — a sealed, complete system rather than a starting point. There's no expansion port, so that figure is the ceiling: check it against your longest unplugged stretch before you buy.

Analyst note

The DELTA 3000 Gen4 is sealed at 3,072Wh, which is fine if that covers you. The DELTA 3 Ultra Plus starts at 3,072Wh and can grow beyond it with EcoFlow expansion batteries — real headroom the DELTA 3000 Gen4 doesn't have if your needs climb toward partial-home backup.

What Owners Report

Patterns from published owner reports and long-term reviews — every claim cited to its source below.

EcoFlow DELTA 3 Ultra Plus

What exists comes from reviewers, not long-term owners. Our research found no owner threads, only review sites that tested it for days or weeksA0. They agree it runs quiet: quieter than older DELTA models when pushedA1, and close to EcoFlow's DELTA Pro UltraA2A13.

The rest is mostly good news. One reviewer worked an eight-hour day off it and finished with 40% leftA5. Another saw no dip when pulling the wall plugA6, and the build feels substantial rather than fragileA8. The screen is hard to read in direct sunA7, and the weight draws the obvious complaintA9.

EcoFlow DELTA 3000 Gen4

Nobody owns a DELTA 4 (3000) yet. It went on sale in the US on November 4 and ships in early DecemberB10, so everything here is EcoFlow's US store page and our own arithmeticB0B4.

I'd want to see it charge on a real garage circuit. At its full 1,800 W it pulls 15 A at 120 V, the entire rating of an ordinary 15 A circuitB4. If I had one, I'd plug it in on the same circuit as a running fridge to see whether the breaker holds, then turn the rate down in the app and time a full charge.

“Capacity 3,072 Wh, LFP (LiFePO4) cells. EcoFlow sells it as the DELTA 3000 Gen4; buyers and the press call the pair the DELTA 4.”

USB-C: one at 140 W max and two at 65 W max; the two 65 W ports share circuitry with the USB-A, limited to 16 W total when used together. No 12 V car socket.”

“AC input 100–120 V, 15 A, 50/60 Hz; X-Stream charging up to 1,800 W from a US wall outlet. Our arithmetic: 1,800 W at 120 V is 15 A, the full rating of an ordinary 15 A circuit, so on a shared circuit you would set the charge rate lower in the EcoFlow app.”

Who Should Buy Which

Buy the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus if you…

  • →You might grow it. It takes EcoFlow's extra batteries; the DELTA 4 (3000) has no port for oneB6.
  • →Sun is your refill plan. 1,600 W of solar input against 1,000 W.
  • →It lives in an RV. The 30 A outlet is the RV kind, and there's a 12 V car socket.
  • →You need it before December. It's on sale now at $1,599, and the DELTA 4 ships in early DecemberB10.

Buy the DELTA 3000 Gen4 if you…

  • →You'll carry it often. 57.3 lb against 74.3 lb for the same 3,072 Wh.
  • →It cycles every day, on a cabin's solar or an off-grid shed: 6,000 cycles against 4,000.
  • →3,072 Wh is the job and always will be: a cabin weekend, or a fridge and router through one night out.

If neither fits

If all you need is a CPAP and a phone through the night, this is far too much battery. The CPAP night uses 12% of either, so a station a fraction of the size and weight does the same job.

The Bottom Line

Same battery, same inverter, so I'd pay for the parts around them: buy the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus. It grows, takes 600 W more sun and plugs into an RV, for about the same money.

Buy the DELTA 4 (3000) if you'll carry it often and cycle it daily. Being 17 lb lighter with a longer cycle rating is a real case. It's just a narrower one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers drawn from the spec record and cited owner research.

Do the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus and DELTA 4 (3000) have the same battery?

Yes. Both hold 3,072 Wh, and both run 3,600 W with a 7,200 W surge. The DELTA 4 (3000) weighs 57.3 lb and the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus weighs 74.3 lb.

Can the DELTA 4 (3000) take an extra battery?

No. It has no extra-battery port, so 3,072 Wh is all it will ever hold. The DELTA 3 Ultra Plus takes EcoFlow's extra batteries.

How much does the DELTA 4 (3000) cost in the US?

EcoFlow lists it at $1,699 on its US store and says it ships in early December. The DELTA 3 Ultra Plus sells for $1,599.

Does the DELTA 4 (3000) last longer than the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus?

On paper, yes. EcoFlow rates it for 6,000 cycles against 4,000, which at one full cycle a day is 16.4 years against 11. A backup unit used a few times a year won't come close to either number.
