Output, surge, weight, cycle rating, switchover speed: all of it runs the other way. Our own composite score still gives the Elite 400 the nod by 14 points, 5,086 to 5,072, which is the aggregate's way of saying these two are peers and it can't help you.
So the question is which ceiling you hit first, and for most people the answer is neither. Five of the six loads we model ask for 2,100Wh or less, and both units walk through all five without breathing hard. The sixth is a full day of van life, and neither one gets there. A compressor slams its worst wattage into the inverter in the first fraction of a second and then settles into something modest, which is why a unit that comfortably runs a load can still flatly refuse to start it. Meanwhile the blackout profile wants 1,645Wh out of the battery, and both of these have that lying around unused. Nobody loses an outage because they ran out of watt-hours. They lose it standing in the kitchen at 9pm, listening to a fridge click and not start.

That quietly kills the reason most people want the larger battery off-grid, which is the belief that it buys slack between charging days. It buys none. And in the one profile built around recharging daily, neither unit covers the day anyway, so there's no rescuing it with a faster refill either. What the 1,000W ceiling does earn you is permission to run a physically bigger array, which is what saves a grey morning when nothing you own is hitting its rated output.

Only one of the four cards below should move money, and it's the surge card. A cushion of 2.0x against 1.5x reads as academic until a compressor kicks in, because that's a load that demands everything it will ever demand in the first instant and then settles down to something a phone charger would laugh at. The thin cushion is the one that trips.
The catch on our own pick belongs right here: push the Ultra into overload and the 30A port is the first thing it shedsA3, which matters a great deal if the plan was to feed an RV inlet from it. The other two cards are reading material rather than decision material. The switchover gap disappears behind most desktop power supplies, and cycle life only speaks to people who drain the pack nightly. Read the surge card, then go look at your appliance list.
Your Life, Your Pick

The Elite 400 takes two of these six and both are wins on margin. A camping weekend asks 2,100Wh and leaves it at 64% of usable capacity against the Ultra's 80%. Both units drove home; one just had more left over. That's worth real money on a trip with nowhere to plug in and precisely nothing on a trip with a hookup.
Three more profiles land so far inside either battery that capacity stops being part of the conversation: a CPAP night at 320Wh, a tailgate at 670Wh, a workday at 910Wh. Then there's the sixth. A full day of van life wants 4,685Wh, which is past both of them with room to spare, and if that's your life then the answer this page gives you is that you're shopping the wrong tier, not the wrong brand.

Cycled on weekends rather than nightly, these packs are rated for 38.5 years and 28.8 years respectively, which puts both of them decades past the 5-year warranty and past the point where anyone is still running a power station bought today.
The running cost at that cadence is $0.09 a day for the Ultra and $0.13 for the Elite 400, or $260 a warranty year against $280. Those are rounding errors on a purchase this size. This section is a genuine tiebreaker for the person cycling the pack every night, and background noise for everyone else.

So map the route before you compare the numbers. Garage to driveway twice a winter and weight isn't a criterion at all; spend the decision on output instead. Put a staircase in the route and the lighter unit becomes the one you'll actually move, which over a few years is the same thing as the one you'll actually use.
Brand Trust
Selected because: Neither support record is clean, and for both brands the receipt you buy on changes how a claim goes.
Both of these companies will make you deal with them eventually, and they do it in different ways. EcoFlow picks up a US phone line, and the record behind it splits hard: prepaid return labels and a fast replacement at one end, long waits and refurbished stock against a new-unit claim at the other. BLUETTI runs the least consistent support operation in the category, mostly by email, on a China timezone, with a recurring habit of offering a discount on a new unit where a repair was what you asked for.
The useful part is that you can buy your way out of some of this: EcoFlow claims go smoother on a Costco or Amazon receipt, BLUETTI claims go smoother when you bought direct. Two footnotes worth carrying. EcoFlow recalled the DELTA Max 2000 in October 2025 over an overheating and fire risk across six incidents, a different product line from anything here, but a good reason to register whatever you buy. And BLUETTI has the better Android app, 4.5 against 4.2, which counts for more than it sounds like when the app is how you watch an outage play out. Neither record should change which unit you buy. Both should change where you buy it.

Take the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Ultra. It's $100 cheaper at $1,299, it's 12.9 lb lighter, it hands off to battery in 10ms instead of 15ms, and it carries a 2.0x surge cushion where the BLUETTI Elite 400 carries 1.5x. That last one is the whole decision: it's the difference between plugging in your fridge and doing arithmetic about your fridge. What the extra hundred buys on the Elite 400 is 768Wh more reserve, and across the six loads we model that buys margin, not capability. It finishes an 8-hour blackout at 50% of usable capacity where the Ultra finishes at 63%. Both finish. Buy the Elite 400 if you want that cushion and nothing on your list has a motor in it.
