EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus vs EcoFlow DELTA 3800 Gen4Double the Inverter, Double the Solar. Can the 3 Plus Catch Up?
Both of these grow with extra batteries, so the extra money buys the parts you can't bolt on later: twice the inverter and twice the solar intake. I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3800) to back up a house, unless it's going to travel with you.

Gunner’s take
Whole-Home Backup Tester
Both of these take extra batteries, so capacity isn't the argument.
The DELTA 3 Plus holds 1,024 Wh and the DELTA 4 (3800) holds 3,763 WhB1, and either can grow from thereB6. That leaves one question: what does the extra money buy that a battery can't?
My answer is the inverter and the solar port.
The DELTA 4 (3800) runs 3,600 W against 1,800 WB2 and takes 2,000 W of solar against 1,000 WB5. That's twice the inverter and twice the intake, and adding batteries to the 3 Plus changes neither one.
Per watt-hour, the bigger box is the cheaper one.
It's $2,199 against $719, on sale now at EcoFlow's US store and shipping in late NovemberB10. The 3 Plus is already on sale, which only matters if you need power in the next few weeks.
What the Numbers Reveal
Each conclusion stated first — the numbers behind it on one line, the full analysis below.
continuous output
A house in an outage doesn't run one load at a time. The fridge compressor kicks on while the microwave runs and the furnace blower starts, and that's where 1,800 W runs out first. The DELTA 4 (3800) has another 1,800 W of headroom before anything has to wait, and twice the surge for the compressor's first second.
DELTA 3 Plus: 1,800 W continuous, 3,600 W surgeDELTA 4 (3800): 3,600 W continuous, 7,200 W surgeB2Both take EcoFlow extra batteries
Why it mattersIf several things in the house need to run together, the inverter is the part to pay for, because it's the part you can't add.
solar input
In a multi-day outage the sun is the only charger left, and a good solar window is a few hours around noon. Double the intake is the difference between a bank that's full by evening and one that isn't. Two inputs also let two separate sets of panels each feed their own portB5, so panels you already own don't have to match the new ones.
DELTA 3 Plus: 1,000 W solar inputDELTA 4 (3800): two solar inputs, 11 to 60 V, 1,000 W each, 2,000 W totalB5DELTA 4 (3800): 3,763 Wh
Why it mattersIf solar is your plan for long outages, the second input matters more than the bigger battery.
weight
A CPAP night or a tailgate never reaches most of the DELTA 4 (3800)'s battery, so on those trips you'd be hauling 40.5 lb of battery you don't use. The 3 Plus covers them and has room to spare.
DELTA 3 Plus: 27 lbDELTA 4 (3800): 67.5 lb, a handle at each end, folding cart sold separatelyB7CPAP Overnight needs 320 Wh; the 3 Plus finishes with 550 Wh left
Why it mattersIf the box rides in the car more than it sits by a panel, take the 3 Plus.
The specific dimensions that decide these two units — everything else is a tie.
Growth Path
Selected because: Both take extra batteries, so the question is what grows with them and what doesn't.
solar input
Both grow, but only one grows into a house system. The DELTA 4 (3800) takes up to two extra batteries through EcoFlow's expansion adapter, a DELTA Pro 3 battery or a DELTA 3 Max Plus battery, and EcoFlow quotes 4 to 12 kWh in allB6. The 3 Plus takes EcoFlow's extra batteries too, from a much lower floor.
What doesn't grow is everything around the battery. A 3 Plus with extra batteries still pushes 1,800 W and still fills through one 1,000 W solar port. For a cabin running lights and a fridge, that's fine. For a house that wants the microwave and the furnace blower at the same time, it's the wrong ceiling.
Runtime: Will It Power Your Gear?
Selected because: 3,763 Wh against 1,024 Wh, and twice the solar intake to fill it back up.
continuous output
On runtime alone, this isn't close. 3,763 Wh is more than three and a half times the 3 Plus's 1,024 Wh. Our blackout night needs 1,645 Wh, and the DELTA 4 (3800) finishes it with 1,554 Wh left, nearly a second night.
Refilling is where the second solar input earns its place. Each input takes 1,000 W at anything from 11 to 60 V, the voltage range the port acceptsB5. A 3 Plus grown to the same size fills through its one port at half the rate, and in a long outage the sun is the only charger left.
Your Life, Your Pick
Selected because: Neither finishes Van Life Daily. The 3 Plus also misses the blackout, the camping weekend and the workday.
The 3 Plus covers the short nights and misses the long ones. A CPAP night and a tailgate fit in both. The blackout, the camping weekend and the remote workday need more than the 3 Plus's 870 Wh usable, though the workday misses by only 40 Wh.
Van Life Daily beats both. At 4,685 Wh it leaves the DELTA 4 (3800) 1,486 Wh short. Both take extra batteries, so this is the one row where adding later is the plan for either box.
Portability & Form Factor
Selected because: 27 lb against 67.5 lb, two and a half times the weight.
weight
At 27 lb the 3 Plus is a carry. At 67.5 lb the DELTA 4 (3800) is a move. EcoFlow gives it a handle at each end and sells a folding cart separatelyB7. I'd get it from the garage to the kitchen by myself. I wouldn't plan a campsite around it.
Camping is where this gets awkward for the small box. The 3 Plus can't cover our 2,100 Wh camping weekend on its own battery, so the real choice there is 67.5 lb in one box or the 3 Plus plus extra batteries.

Either unit
A CPAP is about 40W for eight hours, so both of these cover the night at least twice over — capacity isn't the question here. The only published difference is fan noise, and it can't settle this: the DELTA 3 Plus is rated 30dB and the DELTA 3800 Gen4 40dB, but the DELTA 3 Plus's is its maker's best case and the DELTA 3800 Gen4's is EcoFlow's maximum under heavy charge and discharge, so at a 40W draw the real gap can only be narrower than it looks, and may even run the other way. Neither settles which box is quieter at a bedside. Buy whichever is cheaper or easier to carry.

Conclusion
November 4, 2026
Verdict: the DELTA 3800 Gen4, on Power Score margin
I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3800) to back up a house, and the 3 Plus to travel. Both take extra batteries, so the 3 Plus can catch up on watt-hours. It can't catch up on 3,600 W of output against 1,800 WB2, or on 2,000 W of solar against 1,000 W, because a battery adds neither. At $2,199 against $719, the DELTA 4 (3800) is also the cheaper of the two per watt-hour. What it costs you is 67.5 lb against 27, and a wait until it ships in late NovemberB10.

Each unit's star score is a category ranking, not customer reviews — no buyer opinions feed it. We score every station on size-independent quality (value, output, portability, endurance, ports, warranty, and more), then percentile-rank it against the other units in its capacity class, so a class-leading compact unit and a class-leading whole-home unit can both earn 5★. Here, DELTA 3 Plus rates 4.3/5 (62nd percentile of 27 Everyday-class units), and DELTA 3800 Gen4 rates 4.1/5 (48th percentile of 22 Home Backup-class units).

Two and a Half Times the Weight
The DELTA 4 (3800) weighs 67.5 lb and the 3 Plus 27 lb. One goes onto a back seat with one hand. The other is a two-hand lift you plan before you make it.
Warranty: No Difference
Both units carry the same 5-year warranty, so coverage isn't a tiebreaker here. Both figures are maximums rather than guarantees — they depend on registering the unit in the EcoFlow app, which adds two years to a three-year standard term. Worth saying because the per-dollar framing can suggest otherwise: the DELTA 3 Plus works out at 7 years of cover per $1,000 spent against the DELTA 3800 Gen4's 2.3, but that spread is the price gap, not the terms.
Battery Lifespan in Real Years
The DELTA 3800 Gen4 is rated for 6,000 cycles vs 4,000. In real life: at daily use, that's 16.4 vs 11 years. At weekend use (twice a week), it's 58 vs 38 years. One caution reading years across different sizes: a cycle is 3,763Wh on the DELTA 3800 Gen4 and 1,024Wh on the DELTA 3 Plus, so count lifetime energy — roughly 22,578 kWh against 4,096 kWh over the rated life. After hitting the cycle limit, the battery doesn't die — it drops to ~80% of original capacity, which is still very usable.

EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus
Reviewers like the 3 Plus's charging and its switchover, and they don't like its fans. Coverage praises fast recharging and a switchover under 10 ms when the grid dropsA3. The fans are the recurring complaint: they come on at light loads and cycle erraticallyA1A2, and one reviewer worries that raises the risk of overheating under heavy loadsA2.
It may be fixable. Reviewers expect EcoFlow to sort the fan behavior in a software update, as it has on other unitsA4.

Buy the DELTA 3800 Gen4 if you…
- →It'll back up a house, where the fridge, the microwave and the furnace blower can all want power at once. It runs 3,600 W against 1,800 W.
- →Solar is your outage plan. Two inputs take 2,000 W against the 3 Plus's 1,000 W.
- →You'll grow it big. EcoFlow quotes 4 to 12 kWh with extra batteriesB6.
- →It'll feed a heavy cord. One of its five outlets is a 30 A twist-lock, the kind of plug that locks in and won't work looseB3.
If neither fits
If you'd run a 240 V well pump or an electric dryer, close this tab. Neither has a 240 V outlet, however many batteries you add. Look at a station that has one, like the Anker SOLIX F3800.
The Bottom Line
For a house, I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3800). Both take extra batteries, but only one has the inverter and the solar intake a house leans on, and those don't come in a box you add later.
For a car, a campsite, or power before it ships, buy the 3 Plus. It's less than half the weight, and it can still grow.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers drawn from the spec record and cited owner research.
How much does the EcoFlow DELTA 4 (3800) cost in the US?
EcoFlow lists it at $2,199 on its US store, where it went on sale on November 4, 2026 and ships in late November. The DELTA 3 Plus is $719.
Can I add batteries to the DELTA 3 Plus instead?
Yes. The DELTA 3 Plus takes EcoFlow's extra batteries. They add capacity but not output: it still runs 1,800 W and takes 1,000 W of solar, against 3,600 W and 2,000 W on the DELTA 4 (3800).
What extra batteries work with the DELTA 4 (3800)?
Up to two, through EcoFlow's expansion adapter: the DELTA Pro 3 extra battery or the DELTA 3 Max Plus extra battery. EcoFlow quotes 4 to 12 kWh of capacity in all.
How much solar can the DELTA 4 (3800) take?
Up to 2,000 W, across two inputs that each take 1,000 W at 11 to 60 V. The DELTA 3 Plus takes 1,000 W.
Which one is better for camping?
The DELTA 3 Plus is far easier to carry, at 27 lb against 67.5 lb, but it can't cover our 2,100 Wh camping weekend on its own battery. The DELTA 4 (3800) covers it with 1,099 Wh to spare.
