EcoFlow DELTA 3800 Gen4 vs EcoFlow DELTA Pro 346 lb Lighter, and It Takes the DELTA Pro 3's Battery. Why the Pro?
EcoFlow DELTA 3800 Gen4 vs EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3: 333 Wh less battery, 46 lb less weight, and it takes the Pro 3's own extra battery. Buy the DELTA 4 (3800) if everything you back up runs on 120 V. Pick the DELTA Pro 3 only for 240 V outlets or a battery bank bigger than the DELTA 4 can grow to.

Gunner’s take
Whole-Home Backup Tester
The DELTA 4 (3800) is most of a DELTA Pro 3 with 46 lb taken out.
It holds 3,763 Wh against 4,096 Wh, 92% of the Pro 3's battery, and weighs 67.5 lb against 113.5 lb. One adult can get it into a hatchback. The Pro 3 needs a second person.
What the Pro 3 keeps for its extra weight is 240 V.
It has two 240 V outlets and runs 4,000 W against 3,600 W. The DELTA 4 (3800) runs everything from ordinary 120 V outlets, and its rated surge is the higher one, 7,200 W against 6,000 W.
The two share an extra battery, and that changes the math.
The DELTA 4 (3800) takes the DELTA Pro 3's own extra battery or a DELTA 3 Max Plus one, two at most through EcoFlow's adapterA6. EcoFlow lists it at $2,199 against $2,799 for the Pro 3, and it ships in late NovemberA10.
What the Numbers Reveal
Each conclusion stated first — the numbers behind it on one line, the full analysis below.
Up to EcoFlow's 12 kWh for the smaller baseA6, a bigger base buys you nothing an extra battery doesn't. The battery also comes in a second box, so nothing in the bank weighs more than the 67.5 lb base. The Pro 3 only pulls ahead when the bank has to go past that, toward the 48 kWh reviewers note it reachesB1.
DELTA 4 (3800) takes up to two extra batteries: the DELTA Pro 3's or the DELTA 3 Max Plus (2,048 Wh)A6EcoFlow's kit of the DELTA 4 (3800) with a DELTA 3 Max Plus battery, 6 kWh in all, lists at $2,999A10DELTA Pro 3 alone: 4,096 Wh
Why it mattersIf your plan tops out under 12 kWhA6, put the money into an extra battery, not into the bigger base.
rated cycles
A fridge, a furnace blower, a sump pump and the router all fit inside 3,600 W at 120 V, and the DELTA 4 (3800) is rated to start a motor harder. The loads it can't run are on two-pole breakers: a deep well pump, an electric dryer, a mini-split on its own circuit. No battery you add changes that.
DELTA Pro 3: 4,000 W continuous, 6,000 W rated surge, two 240 V outletsDELTA 4 (3800): 3,600 W continuous, 7,200 W rated surge, all outlets at 120 VA2A3Both take the DELTA Pro 3 extra batteryA6
Why it mattersWrite down your 240 V loads. If the list is empty, the Pro 3's best feature is one you'd never use.
solar input
In a long outage the wall isn't there, so solar is the input that counts, and the Pro 3 takes 600 W more of it. Open-circuit voltage, printed on a panel's back as Voc, is what each DELTA 4 input checks against its 60 V limit, so most folding panels fit in pairsA5.
DELTA 4 (3800): 2,000 W of solar over two 11 to 60 V inputs, 1,000 W eachA5DELTA Pro 3: 2,600 W of solar; up to 7,000 W combined input, 0 to 80% in about 50 minutesB3DELTA 4 (3800): up to 1,800 W from the wall, which is 15 A at 120 VA4
Why it mattersIf you'll live on a big array for days at a time, the Pro 3's extra solar input is worth weighing.
The specific dimensions that decide these two units — everything else is a tie.
Growth Path
Selected because: Both take extra batteries, and the DELTA 4 (3800) takes the DELTA Pro 3's own.
solar input
The best thing about the DELTA 4 (3800) is that it borrows the Pro 3's battery. EcoFlow lists the DELTA Pro 3 extra battery and the DELTA 3 Max Plus one as the two it accepts, up to two at a time through an expansion adapterA6. A battery bought for one box isn't stranded if you later own the other.
Past 12 kWh, the Pro 3 is the only road. EcoFlow quotes 4 to 12 kWh for the DELTA 4 (3800)A6. Reviewers note the Pro 3 goes to 48 kWhB1, a bank built to sit behind a home panel. A fridge, a furnace and the router never get near either ceiling.
Portability & Form Factor
Selected because: 3,763 Wh at 67.5 lb against 4,096 Wh at 113.5 lb: 46 lb apart for 333 Wh.
weight
I'd carry the DELTA 4 (3800) down basement stairs by myself, and not the Pro 3. At 67.5 lb it's a one-person lift with bent knees, with a handle at each end and a folding cart EcoFlow sells separatelyA7. The Pro 3 is a two-person job every time it moves.
A box that never moves pays for its weight once. If the Pro 3 goes beside the panel in the garage and stays, the 46 lb matters on install day only. The DELTA 4 (3800) measures 16.77 by 11.36 by 12.09 inches without its handlesA7, small enough for a closet shelf.
What the Specs Don't Tell You
Selected because: The DELTA 4 (3800) is rated to surge to 7,200 W against 6,000 W. Both switch over in no worse than 10 ms.
rated cycles
For a 120 V motor, the smaller box is rated to start harder. It surges to 7,200 W against 6,000 W, so a fridge compressor or a sump pump that starts on the Pro 3 should start here too. The Pro 3 holds 400 W more once everything is running, room for a microwave on top.
Neither is a UPS for a computer that needs to shut itself down. Both are rated to switch over in no worse than 10 ms, which a router rides through. EcoFlow's FAQ says the DELTA 4 (3800) doesn't support HID communicationA8, the USB link a desktop uses to learn the power is out and shut down cleanly.
Your Life, Your Pick
Selected because: Both cover every day we model except Van Life Daily, and the lighter box takes camping and the tailgate.
Every ordinary day fits in either battery. The DELTA 4 (3800) finishes the eight-hour blackout with 1,554 Wh to spare and the Pro 3 with 1,837 Wh. A CPAP night uses about a tenth of either.
Van Life Daily is where the shared battery pays off. It needs 4,685 Wh, and neither covers it alone: the DELTA 4 (3800) is 1,486 Wh short, the Pro 3 1,203 Wh. One DELTA Pro 3 extra battery closes either gap, and both take itA6.

Conclusion
November 4, 2026
Verdict: the EcoFlow DELTA 3800 Gen4
I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3800) unless something in your house runs on 240 V. It holds 3,763 Wh against 4,096 Wh, weighs 67.5 lb against 113.5 lb, has the higher rated surge, and takes the DELTA Pro 3's own extra batteryA6. It also costs $600 less. The DELTA Pro 3 answers with 400 W more continuous output, two 240 V outlets, 2,600 W of solar and a 48 kWh ceilingB1. If your plan needs 240 V, or a bank past the 12 kWh EcoFlow quotes for the DELTA 4 (3800)A6, the Pro 3 is the only one of the two that gets there.

Runtime model
Runtime = (rated capacity × 0.85 inverter efficiency) ÷ device wattage. Solar recharge estimates assume panels deliver 70% of rated output. Cold weather, battery age, and stacked loads reduce real-world results.

Computed from 14 published spec dimensions, weighted per use-case bench. Higher is better; a unit must meet a bench's minimum threshold to be rated.
See the full weight table and data sourcing on our methodology page →Class ranking (the star rating)
Each unit's star score is a category ranking, not customer reviews — no buyer opinions feed it. We score every station on size-independent quality (value, output, portability, endurance, ports, warranty, and more), then percentile-rank it against the other units in its capacity class, so a class-leading compact unit and a class-leading whole-home unit can both earn 5★. Here, DELTA 3800 Gen4 rates 4.1/5 (48th percentile of 22 Home Backup-class units), and DELTA Pro 3 rates 3.9/5 (33rd percentile of 22 Home Backup-class units).
How the class ranking is computed →Test Notes & Caveats
Hidden gotchas and advantages we spotted that you won't find on the product page.
Weight Reality Check
Neither unit is grab-and-go. The DELTA 3800 Gen4 (67.5 lbs) is manageable solo but heavier than a large checked suitcase. The DELTA Pro 3 (113.5 lbs) is firmly a two-person lift. It goes where you put it and stays there. That's a 46 lb difference, and it is paid once — getting the heavier one into position, not every time you move it.
Surge Power: Inverter Quality Indicator
The DELTA 3800 Gen4 has a 2× surge-to-continuous ratio vs the DELTA Pro 3's 1.5×, and the higher absolute ceiling with it — 7,200W against 6,000W. At 2× it clears the 2× rule of thumb for absorbing motor startups — fridges, AC compressors and power tools briefly draw 2-3× their rated wattage. What decides whether a given motor starts is the ceiling, not the ratio: the DELTA Pro 3 still surges to 6,000W, so check the startup draw of the heaviest thing you plan to run against that figure rather than assuming it trips.
Warranty: No Difference
Both units carry the same 5-year warranty, so coverage isn't a tiebreaker here. Both figures are maximums rather than guarantees — they depend on registering the unit in the EcoFlow app, which adds two years to a three-year standard term. Worth saying because the per-dollar framing can suggest otherwise: the DELTA 3800 Gen4 works out at 2.3 years of cover per $1,000 spent against the DELTA Pro 3's 1.8, but that spread is the price gap, not the terms.
Battery Lifespan in Real Years
The DELTA 3800 Gen4 is rated for 6,000 cycles vs 4,000. In real life: at daily use, that's 16.4 vs 11 years. At weekend use (twice a week), it's 58 vs 38 years. After hitting the cycle limit, the battery doesn't die — it drops to ~80% of original capacity, which is still very usable.

EcoFlow DELTA 3800 Gen4
Nobody owns a DELTA 4 (3800) yet. EcoFlow put it on sale on November 4 and says it ships in late NovemberA10. I went through EcoFlow's US spec table and FAQ, and everything here comes from those plus our arithmeticA1A6.
What I'd test first is the battery the two share. I'd hang a DELTA Pro 3 extra battery off it, run the pair down, and refill them from one kitchen outlet. At the full 1,800 W that's 15 A, the whole rating of a 15 A circuitA4, so I'd expect to turn the rate down in the app and wait longer.

The Pro 3's record comes from reviewers and retailers, not long-term owners. Our research drew on review sites and retailer listingsB0. Reviewers call it a gold-standard whole-home backupB4, and the praise centres on the multi-charge speed, 0 to 80% in about 50 minutes with every input in useB3.
The consistent knock is the one on the spec sheet. It weighs about 113.5 lbB4, and the pattern in our research is a big battery and very fast charging, paid for in heftB1B3. Its pack is rated for 4,000-plus cycles to 80%B2.

Who Should Buy Which
Buy the DELTA 3800 Gen4 if you…
- →It will move. 67.5 lb against 113.5, for 333 Wh less battery.
- →Your backup list is all 120 V: a fridge, a furnace blower, a sump pump and the router.
- →You'll grow, but not past 12 kWh. It takes the DELTA Pro 3's own extra batteryA6.
- →Motors worry you more than voltage. Its rated surge is 7,200 W against 6,000 W.
Buy the DELTA Pro 3 if you…
- →Something runs on 240 V, like a deep well pump or an electric dryer.
- →You're planning a whole-house bank. Reviewers note it expands to 48 kWhB1.
- →You'll recharge from a big array. 2,600 W of solar against 2,000 W.
- →You want the most battery in one base. 4,096 Wh against 3,763 Wh.
If neither fits
If you're keeping a fridge and a router alive for one night, both are oversized. The eight-hour blackout uses about half of either, so a 2,000 Wh-class station costs less and lifts easier.
The Bottom Line
If your house runs on 120 V and your bank stays under 12 kWhA6, I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3800). It carries 92% of the Pro 3's battery at 59% of the weight, and it takes the same extra battery when you want more.
If you need 240 V or a bank past 12 kWhA6, buy the DELTA Pro 3. It's the bigger machine, and no battery you add gives the DELTA 4 a 240 V outlet.
