EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic vs EcoFlow DELTA 3000 Gen4Three Times the Battery, Twice the Cycles. Do You Need It?

The Classic is the cheaper watt-hour on the shelf and the DELTA 4 (3000) is rated for twice the cycles, but neither box ever takes another battery. I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3000) if a blackout is why you're shopping, and the Classic if your longest night is a CPAP.

Gunner’s take

Whole-Home Backup Tester

The DELTA 4 (3000) is three DELTA 3 Classics of battery behind twice the inverter.

It's 3,072 Wh against 1,024 Wh, and 3,600 W continuous against 1,800 W, with a 7,200 W surge for motors that pull hard at switch-on. It weighs 57.3 lb to the Classic's 26.7 lb. Neither box takes an extra batteryB6, so whichever you buy is the size you keep.

The Classic is built for a night, not an outage.

A CPAP night uses 37% of its usable battery, and a tailgate leaves it 200 Wh spare. Our eight-hour blackout needs 1,645 Wh. The Classic gets a little past halfway, and the DELTA 4 (3000) finishes with 966 Wh still in it.

The bigger box is not the bargain per watt-hour.

At $1,699 against $499, the DELTA 4 (3000) costs more for each watt-hour on the shelf. The premium buys a battery rated for 6,000 cycles against the Classic's 3,000, a 30 A twist-lock outletB3, and a blackout runtime no single Classic reaches. EcoFlow put it on sale on November 4 and says it ships in early DecemberB10.

02

What the Numbers Reveal

Each conclusion stated first — the numbers behind it on one line, the full analysis below.

F1

Capacity

On a box that takes extra batteries, falling short is only a first step, because you add a pack later. Neither of these allows that. A Classic bought for blackouts stays a box that goes dark partway through the night, and the fix is a second station, not an add-on.

DELTA 3 Classic: 1,024 Wh, 870 Wh usable after the flat 15% allowance8-Hour Blackout needs 1,645 Wh: the Classic is 775 Wh short, the DELTA 4 (3000) finishes with 966 Wh leftNeither has a battery port; the DELTA 4 (3000) is sealed at 3,072 WhB6

Why it mattersIf an outage is the reason you're shopping, size for it now, because neither box lets you size up later.

F2

rated cycles

That rating only pays if you cycle it. Run both to their ratings and the DELTA 4 (3000) works out at $0.09 per lifetime kWh against $0.16 for the Classic. Charge either one from the sun every day and the Classic reaches its rating in about half the years. Park either one in a closet for storms and both ratings stretch over decades, which leaves the Classic's lower price per watt-hour as the number that counts.

Catalogue cost per watt-hour: lower for the DELTA 3 Classic than for the DELTA 4 (3000)Cycle ratings: 6,000 for the DELTA 4 (3000), 3,000 for the ClassicRated lifetime energy: 18,432 kWh against 3,072 kWh

Why it mattersIf it'll charge from the sun most days, count the cycles; if it waits for storms, count the watt-hours.

F3

continuous output

The Classic's battery runs out long before its inverter doesA10. The DELTA 4 (3000) doubles the inverter and triples the battery, so the load that drains a Classic in a short stretch runs three times as long on the bigger box, with a 30 A outlet left over for a heavy cordB3.

DELTA 3 Classic: 1,800 W continuous, 3,600 W surge; one reviewer found it started a small window AC fine but ran it only brieflyA10DELTA 4 (3000): 3,600 W continuous, 7,200 W surge at 120 VB2DELTA 4 (3000): five outlets, one of them a 30 A twist-lockB3; the Classic has three

Why it mattersIf the reason you're shopping is a window AC or anything else with a motor, the Classic will start it and then disappoint you.

F4

solar input

In an outage you'd be refilling from a generator or a kitchen circuit something else shares, and EcoFlow's own advice on a shared circuit is to turn the rate down in the appB4. Turned down, three times the battery takes longer to fill. The Classic refills over a dinner-length generator runA1. The DELTA 4 (3000) wants an afternoon of sun on its one input.

DELTA 3 Classic: one reviewer timed a full wall charge at just under 55 minutesA1DELTA 4 (3000): X-Stream wall charging up to 1,800 W, which is 15 A at 120 V, the full rating of an ordinary 15 A circuitB4DELTA 4 (3000): one solar input at up to 1,000 W, against the Classic's 500 W

Why it mattersIf your recharge plan is short generator runs, the Classic's quick refill counts; if it's a full day of sun, the bigger battery banks more of it.

The specific dimensions that decide these two units — everything else is a tie.

Your Life, Your Pick

Selected because: Five of our six days fit the DELTA 4 (3000); the Classic covers two and misses a third by 40 Wh.

The Classic wins the short days and loses the long ones. A CPAP night and a tailgate both fit with room to spare. The remote workday misses by just 40 Wh, which switching one small thing off would cover. The blackout and the camping weekend aren't close.

Van Life Daily is the one day the DELTA 4 (3000) can't finish. It needs 4,685 Wh, and this box has no battery port to grow into itB6. If your plans look like that, you want a station that takes extra batteries, and the bigger DELTA 4 is oneB6.

Growth Path

Selected because: Neither takes an extra battery, so 1,024 Wh and 3,072 Wh are the final sizes.

solar input

Neither box grows, and that changes what cheap means. The Classic is sealed at 1,024 Wh and the DELTA 4 (3000) at 3,072 WhB6. You can't buy the small one now and add a battery when money allows. The upgrade path from a Classic is a second Classic or a different station.

I'd size for the worst night, not the usual one. A box that covers an ordinary evening and goes dark in the bad one has failed at the job you bought it for. If you can't say how long your worst outage runs, the bigger box is the safer guess.

Lifetime Value

Selected because: The Classic is cheaper to buy per watt-hour; the DELTA 4 (3000) is rated for twice the cycles.

cost / lifetime kWh

The Classic is the cheaper battery to buy, and the DELTA 4 (3000) is the cheaper one to wear out. Per watt-hour on the shelf, the Classic costs less. Run each to its cycle rating and the DELTA 4 (3000) delivers energy at $0.09 per kWh against $0.16 for the Classic, because it's rated for twice the cycles (6,000 against 3,000) and each of its cycles is three times the energy.

That lifetime figure assumes you actually use the cycles. Charged daily from the sun, the Classic reaches its rating in 8.2 years and the DELTA 4 (3000) in 16.4 years. Kept in a closet for storms, neither gets anywhere near its rating, and the shelf price is the only cost you'll feel.

Portability & Form Factor

Selected because: 30.6 lb more to carry for 2,048 Wh more battery.

weight

The Classic goes in the car with one hand. It's 26.7 lb on one centered handleA11, against 57.3 lb for the DELTA 4 (3000) with a handle at each endB7. EcoFlow sells a folding cart for the bigger box separatelyB7, which says how often it expects you to carry it.

Those 30.6 lb buy 2,048 Wh. That's a good trade if the box lives by the fridge and a poor one if it rides to a campsite every weekend.

What the Specs Don't Tell You

Selected because: The same five years of cover on both, and noise figures that aren't measured the same way.

rated cycles

The warranty is a draw. Both carry three years plus two more when you register in the EcoFlow appB9, so five years each on the same terms.

The noise figures don't settle a bedside question. EcoFlow rates the DELTA 4 (3000) at 40 dB or less up to 1,800 WB8, which is a ceiling under load. Our record doesn't say at what load the Classic's 30 dB was taken, so the two numbers aren't the same kind of figure.

Conclusion

November 4, 2026

Verdict: the DELTA 3000 Gen4, on Power Score margin

If a blackout is why you're buying, I'd take the DELTA 4 (3000). It holds 3,072 Wh against the Classic's 1,024 Wh and finishes our eight-hour blackout with 966 Wh left, where the Classic runs out 775 Wh short. Neither takes an extra batteryB6, so the Classic can't catch up later. The DELTA 4 costs more per watt-hour on the shelf, and EcoFlow says it ships in early DecemberB10, while the Classic is on sale now at $499. If one night is your longest job, the call flips and the Classic is the one to buy.

Class ranking (the star rating)

Each unit's star score is a category ranking, not customer reviews — no buyer opinions feed it. We score every station on size-independent quality (value, output, portability, endurance, ports, warranty, and more), then percentile-rank it against the other units in its capacity class, so a class-leading compact unit and a class-leading whole-home unit can both earn 5★. Here, DELTA 3 Classic rates 4.0/5 (42nd percentile of 27 Everyday-class units), and DELTA 3000 Gen4 rates 4.8/5 (86th percentile of 29 Large-class units).

How the class ranking is computed →

Test Notes & Caveats

Hidden gotchas and advantages we spotted that you won't find on the product page.

[NOTE]

Warranty: No Difference

Both units carry the same 5-year warranty, so coverage isn't a tiebreaker here. Both figures are maximums rather than guarantees — they depend on registering the unit in the EcoFlow app, which adds two years to a three-year standard term. Worth saying because the per-dollar framing can suggest otherwise: the DELTA 3 Classic works out at 10 years of cover per $1,000 spent against the DELTA 3000 Gen4's 2.9, but that spread is the price gap, not the terms.

[NOTE]

Twice the Cycles Only Pays If You Cycle It

The DELTA 4 (3000) is rated for 6,000 cycles against 3,000, and each of its cycles is three times the energy. Charge it from the sun daily and that rating is worth money. Keep it for storms and neither battery is likely to reach its rating.

What Owners Report

Patterns from published owner reports and long-term reviews — every claim cited to its source below.

EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic

The Classic's field record is early, and it comes from reviewers more than owners. It launched in March 2026, so long-term reports don't exist yetA0. One reviewer timed a full wall charge at just under 55 minutesA1, and the same outlet found it quieter than its price suggestedA3.

Its idle draw is worth knowing for overnight use. That reviewer measured about 17 W with the inverter onA2. Across a long night with little plugged in, that's a real slice of a 1,024 Wh battery spent on the box itselfA2.

“In our tests, the DELTA 3 Classic charged from empty to full plugged into a standard wall outlet in just shy of 55 minutes.”

Nobody owns a DELTA 4 (3000) yet. EcoFlow put it on sale on November 4 and says it ships in early DecemberB10, so everything on this page comes from EcoFlow's US store page and our own arithmeticB0B4.

I'd want to put its wall charger on a real kitchen circuit. At the full 1,800 W it draws 15 A at 120 V, the whole rating of an ordinary 15 A circuitB4. If I had one, I'd run it flat out from empty with the toaster unplugged and feel how warm the plug and the breaker got. Electricians don't plan a continuous load at a breaker's full rating, so if anything ran warm I'd turn the rate down in the app, as EcoFlow suggests for a shared circuitB4.

“Capacity 3,072 Wh, LFP (LiFePO4) cells. EcoFlow sells it as the DELTA 3000 Gen4; buyers and the press call the pair the DELTA 4.”

“AC input 100–120 V, 15 A, 50/60 Hz; X-Stream charging up to 1,800 W from a US wall outlet. Our arithmetic: 1,800 W at 120 V is 15 A, the full rating of an ordinary 15 A circuit, so on a shared circuit you would set the charge rate lower in the EcoFlow app.”

Who Should Buy Which

Buy the DELTA 3 Classic if you…

  • →Your longest job is one night. A CPAP uses 37% of its usable battery.
  • →You carry it. It's 26.7 lb on one centered handleA11, to a tailgate or a campsite.
  • →You need it this week. It's on sale now at $499.
  • →You'd refill from a generator in short runs. One reviewer filled it from the wall in under an hourA1.

Buy the DELTA 3000 Gen4 if you…

  • →A blackout is the reason you're shopping. It finishes our eight-hour blackout with 966 Wh left.
  • →You run bigger loads. 3,600 W continuous and a 7,200 W surge, against 1,800 W and 3,600 W.
  • →It'll charge from the sun most days. It's rated for 6,000 cycles against 3,000.
  • →You can wait a month. EcoFlow says it ships in early DecemberB10.

If neither fits

If your days look like Van Life Daily at 4,685 Wh, skip both. Neither box takes an extra battery, so look at one that does, such as the bigger DELTA 4B6.

08

The Bottom Line

If the job is a blackout, I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3000). It's three Classics of battery behind twice the inverter, it finishes the night the Classic can't, and neither box lets you add a battery later.

If the job is a CPAP night or a tailgate, buy the Classic. It's on sale now, it's 26.7 lb, and on those nights it still goes to bed with battery left.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers drawn from the spec record and cited owner research.

How much does the EcoFlow DELTA 4 (3000) cost in the US?

EcoFlow lists it at $1,699 on its US store, where it went on sale on November 4, 2026. EcoFlow says it ships in early December. The DELTA 3 Classic is $499 and on sale now.

Can the DELTA 3 Classic get through a power outage?

A short one. It has about 870 Wh usable, and our eight-hour blackout needs 1,645 Wh, so it covers a little over half. It handles a CPAP night with plenty left.

Can I add a battery to the DELTA 4 (3000) or the DELTA 3 Classic later?

No. The DELTA 4 (3000) is sealed at 3,072 Wh with no extra-battery port, and the DELTA 3 Classic is fixed at 1,024 Wh. Buy the size you need now.

Which one charges faster from the wall?

The Classic fills sooner. One reviewer charged it from empty in just under 55 minutes. The DELTA 4 (3000) takes up to 1,800 W from a US outlet, the full 15 A of an ordinary circuit, but it has three times the battery to fill.

Is the DELTA 4 (3000) worth it over the DELTA 3 Classic?

If you're buying for blackouts, yes. It finishes an eight-hour blackout the Classic only gets halfway through, runs twice the load, and is rated for twice the cycles. If one night is your longest job, the Classic costs less per watt-hour and does that night with room left.
