Whether it's worth it to you comes down to whether you'll use the extra 1,024Wh. For outage backup you will; for camping trips you probably won't.
Can the DJI Power 1000 run my house during a blackout?
For a short one, partially. Our full 8-hour blackout basket needs 1,645Wh and the Power 1000 holds 1,024Wh, so it covers only part of the night. Trim to just the fridge, a router, and phones and it stretches much further, but if riding out full outages is the goal, the Power 2000's 2,048Wh is the one that finishes the evening.

Should I buy the Power 1000 now and upgrade to the Power 2000 later?
Usually not, if you already suspect you'll need more. The Power 1000 is sealed, so 'upgrading' means buying a second unit rather than adding to the first, and because the 2000 costs the same per watt-hour, you'd effectively pay twice for capacity you could have bought once. If growth is likely, start at the Power 2000.
