Take the Elite 300 unless you can name the exact load you're buying for and it's small. 3,014Wh against 512Wh isn't a spec gap, it's two product classes that happened to land on the same comparison page. Derate both by the usual 85% for inverter losses and you're choosing between 2,562Wh and 435Wh of energy you can actually spend.

Divide the prices out and the intuition flips. $1,199 over 3,014Wh is $0.40 a watt-hour. $299 over 512Wh is $0.74. The cheap-looking box is the expensive energy, by about 85%, and that's the part people get backwards when they see the two stickers side by side.

None of which makes the Power 500 a bad buy. It weighs 16.1 lbs to the Elite's 58, which is the difference between one hand and two, and $900 is real money that stays where it is. Its 1,000W continuous ceiling is the second wall, because above it an appliance doesn't run slowly, it declines to run. The Power 500 lists 1,000W surge against 1,000W continuous. Read that as a spec sheet declining to quantify headroom rather than proof there is none. Either way, only one of the two publishes a figure you can plan a compressor start around.

If neither fits

Anyone whose real load looks like the van-life scenario should close both tabs. 4,685Wh a day gets about 55% coverage from the Elite and about 9% from the Power 500, and a gap that size isn't closed by being careful. Go up a class to a larger station or a proper house-battery system. The gentler version of the same advice: if you only need phones and a tablet alive for an afternoon, a power bank does that and neither of these earns the shelf space.

Take the Elite 300 if you're buying energy. 2,562Wh usable against 435Wh settles five of the six loads on this page, 2,400W against 1,000W settles what can run at the same time, and the price-per-watt-hour arithmetic points the same direction the capacity does. The DJI is the one that costs less. It is not the one that costs less to power something.

Take the Power 500 if you're buying a thing to carry. Sixteen pounds in one hand and $900 back in your account is a real answer to a real question, just not the question most people arrive here asking. Work out which of those two sentences is yours and you've already decided.

Is the DJI Power 500 enough for a power outage?

Not for a full one. An eight-hour blackout draws 1,645Wh in our model and the Power 500 holds 435Wh usable after inverter losses, so it covers roughly a quarter of the night. It's a good unit for keeping a phone, a router and a CPAP going, but it is not a house-through-the-evening unit. The Elite 300's 2,562Wh usable covers that same night with about 917Wh spare.

Why does the cheaper power station cost more per watt-hour?

Fixed costs. The inverter, case, screen and control board cost roughly what they cost whether they sit on 512Wh or 3,014Wh, so a small unit spreads them over less energy. $299 over 512Wh works out to $0.74 a watt-hour; $1,199 over 3,014Wh is $0.40. This is why cheap and good value are two different questions when you're shopping power stations.

Can I add more battery to either one later?

No, to both. Neither the Elite 300 nor the Power 500 has an expansion port, so what you buy is what you have for the life of the unit. That's not a flaw in either one, since both are complete sealed systems rather than starter kits. It does mean the sizing decision is the whole decision, so buy for your worst night rather than your average one.

Which one is quieter, the Elite 300 or the Power 500?

DJI publishes 25 dB for the Power 500 and BLUETTI publishes nothing for the Elite 300, so only one of them has made a claim you could hold it to. Treat that 25 dB as a class indicator rather than a reading you'll replicate at full load. If a quiet bedroom is a hard requirement, the unit with a published figure is the safer bet.

Can the DJI Power 500 charge from solar panels?

Only with a separate adapter bought on top. There's no built-in solar charge controller, and the box ships with a wall plug and nothing else, no solar adapter and no car-charging cable. Budget for the adapter as well as the panel if solar is part of the plan. The Elite 300 takes up to 1,200W of solar directly.
