Buy the Explorer 1000 Plus. At $699 for 1,264Wh it works out to 79 cents a watt-hour; the C800 is 78 cents at $599 for 768Wh. You are not paying a premium for the bigger unit. You are buying the same deal, more of it.
That penny is why this page is short. When two units cost the same per watt-hour, every other spec becomes a free comparison, and the Jackery takes almost all of them: 2,000W continuous against 1,200W, a 4,000W surge ceiling against 1,600W, 800W of solar input against 300W, 4,000 cycles against 3,000. The C800 wins weight. That is the list.
The C800 is not a bad box and $100 is real money. It is a fair 768Wh at a fair rate, it is 8.2 lbs lighter, and if your evenings run under about 650Wh it will finish them and you will never think about this page again. But it stops 17Wh short of the tailgate load and 257Wh short of a remote workday, and once you are already spending $599, the step up isn't a luxury tier. It's the same tier with more in it.

The Explorer takes expansion batteries, up to three of them for a bank near 5,000WhB2, while the C800 is sealed at 768Wh with no path at all.
This counts only because the expanded ceiling clears the C800's fixed one by a wide margin. A growth path into something worse would be no argument, and a sealed box that already covers you is not a flaw. It also isn't free, and the honest version is that most people who buy at this size never add a battery. Budget for it only if you already know the outage list is getting longer.

45dB Is the C800's Loud End, Not Its Normal One
45dB against 30dB is a genuine 15-decibel gap, but both are under-load ratings and much of what people run overnight barely counts as a load. A CPAP draws about 40W. At that draw the C800 isn't working, and the rating gap overstates what you would hear from two feet away in the dark. Where the difference is real is fast AC recharging and anything approaching the C800's 1,200W ceiling. If you top the unit up in the room you sleep in, the Jackery is the one rated quieter, by 15dB.

One entry to discount, and it happens to be the most-repeated one. Several write-ups lead with a full recharge in 58 minutes on a 600W adapterA9A15. 600W for 58 minutes is about 580Wh, roughly three-quarters of a 768Wh battery, so either the adapter was larger than stated or the charge wasn't full.
