The RIVER 2 has left EcoFlow's store. What EcoFlow sells now is the RIVER 2 240, the same unit with a slightly smaller battery. So this page is for someone who owns a RIVER 2, or someone who has spotted one at a retailer and is weighing it against a BLUETTI still on sale.
I charge a camera and a laptop off whatever station is in the back of the Subaru, so the first line I read on any spec sheet is USB-C. The Elite 30 V2's fastest port is rated 140W. The RIVER 2's is 60W, which will charge most laptops, just slowly if you're working on them.
The Elite 30 V2 also runs twice the inverter around a battery only a little bigger. The RIVER 2's clearest advantage is that it weighs 2.5 lb less.

Power Lifting runs a resistive appliance rated up to 1,500W from the 600W inverter by giving it less power than it asks for, so a kettle still boils, just more slowly. It does nothing for a fridge compressor, a pump or a power tool, and BLUETTI publishes no surge figure for this unit.
UPS Switchover: β€10ms vs β€30ms
The Elite 30 V2 is rated to switch to battery in no worse than 10ms, the RIVER 2 in no worse than 30ms. A router usually rides through either. Many desktop computers will not ride through 30ms. These are maker ratings, not our measurements.

Not by EcoFlow. Its store now sells the RIVER 2 240 instead, the same unit with a slightly smaller battery. The RIVER 2 may still turn up at other retailers.
Is the RIVER 2 louder than the Elite 30 V2?
There is no published figure to compare. BLUETTI rates the Elite 30 V2 at 30dB, and EcoFlow publishes no noise figure for the RIVER 2. Owner reports describe the RIVER 2 as noticeably louder under load than EcoFlow's newer RIVER 3, and several Elite 30 V2 reviewers call it quiet.
Which one is better for backup power during an outage?
The Elite 30 V2. It is rated to switch to battery in no worse than 10ms, against no worse than 30ms for the RIVER 2. Many desktop computers will not ride through a 30ms gap. One reviewer found its switchover reassuring in cabins with patchy power.
Can the Elite 30 V2 run a 1,500W appliance?
Only a resistive one, and only at reduced power. Its Power Lifting mode runs a heater, kettle or incandescent lamp rated up to 1,500W by giving it less power than it asks for, within the 600W inverter. It does not help with motors or compressors, and BLUETTI publishes no surge figure for this unit.
Which one should I actually buy?
The Elite 30 V2, since EcoFlow no longer sells the RIVER 2. It doubles the AC output, takes nearly twice the solar and has a 140W USB-C port. If you already own a RIVER 2 and it charges what you need, there is no reason to replace it.
