At 298.7 lbs, the DELTA Pro Ultra X isn't really a purchase, it's an appointment: EcoFlow's own claim is that its quick-connect design cuts installation time by up to 80% and has you running in about seven daysA4. The RIVER 2 Pro weighs 17.2 lbs and works the moment you open the box. Both are EcoFlow, both carry five years of warranty, and both give you four AC sockets and 100W over USB-C. Behind that identical socket panel, one holds sixteen times the energy of the other.
Price looks like the whole story until you divide it by what each pack is rated to deliver. The Ultra X at $7,999 over 3,500 cycles of 12,288Wh works out to 43,008 kWh across its rated life; the RIVER 2 Pro at $349 over 3,000 cycles of 768Wh gives 2,304. That is nineteen cents a stored kilowatt-hour against fifteen. Twenty-three times the sticker price, and the energy inside costs about the same.
So the question isn't value, it's permission. The Ultra X has enough energy for all six scenarios we run and wins four of them outright, and the two it doesn't win it loses to its own mass rather than to anything the RIVER does. If you're feeding a breaker panel and the unit will sit in one place for the better part of a decade, that's your answer. If it has to come with you, only one of these two goes.

That is the fixable kind of wall. 257Wh is a little over an hour of full sun at its 220W input ceiling, so the workday it misses indoors it makes with a panel plugged in, and the 17Wh tailgate miss is one appliance left at home. The 992Wh it comes up short in an eight-hour blackout is not fixable that way, because the storm and the sunshine don't coordinate.

Why it mattersIf you can top it up mid-day, the RIVER covers more than its capacity suggests. If your scenario is a basement during a storm, it doesn't, and solar won't rescue it.
Both numbers come from one maker and neither was taken at the load that matters, so the dB line can't settle the one scenario where noise is the entire question. Our record lists no 12V car socket on it and two 240V outlets, which says plainly where EcoFlow expects it to be plugged in. The RIVER has that car socket and no 240V, which says the same thing in reverse.
17.2 lbs is the strongest argument for the cheaper unit, stronger than anything in its capacity row. You can carry it to the truck with one hand and put it back on a shelf afterward, so it gets used on ordinary Saturdays instead of waiting in a closet for an emergency. The question that settles this page isn't how much energy you need. It's whether you'd ever want to pick it up.

The two rows that go to neither unit are the honest ones. A powered weekend asks 2,100Wh: the RIVER finishes 1,447Wh short, and the Ultra X holds five times what the weekend needs and has no way to reach the campsite. At the tailgate the RIVER misses 670Wh by 17Wh, a rounding error you fix by leaving one appliance at home, and the Ultra X was never a candidate at all.
Van Life Daily is the row worth staring at, because the scoreboard and the loading dock disagree. Living in a van costs 4,685Wh a day, and the RIVER covers about 14% of that, which ends the argument on its side. The Ultra X clears the day with 5,760Wh spare and is also a stationary appliance that does not go in a van. Read that row as a verdict on the load, not as a shopping list.

Both packs are rated for roughly the same working life, 9.6 years against 8.2 at a cycle a day, so the money isn't buying durability. It isn't buying cheaper energy either. It's buying 12,000W of continuous output and the pair of 240V outlets that go with it, which is the sort of thing that has no per-kilowatt-hour price.
Where the framing misleads is cover per dollar: $1,600 of purchase price for each warranty year against $70. That reads like a finding and it's only the price gap restated, because the terms are identical five years either way. The honest lifetime-value read is that whichever of these fits your situation is priced fairly for what it is, and the other one is priced fairly for a situation you don't have.

The UPS figures are ceilings, no worse than 10ms and no worse than 30ms, which is a real class difference for a desktop with unsaved work but not a measurement of the unit in your hallway. The dB figures are shakier still: EcoFlow publishes 62dB as the RIVER's maximum under high-wattage charge and dischargeB2 and offers no equivalent note for the Ultra X's 30dB, so the two may not be describing the same thing at all.
The surge card reads as a win for the Ultra X, and on ratio it is, 3.8x of headroom against 2x. The useful number on that card is the small one. What decides whether your fridge starts is the RIVER's 1,600W ceiling measured against that fridge's startup draw, which briefly runs two to three times its rated wattage. Check the appliance, not the ratio.

This is a two-person lift exactly once, because afterward it isn't getting moved. Measure the doorway, think about the floor it will stand on, and treat placement as part of the purchase rather than part of the setup. The RIVER 2 Pro weighs 17.2 lbs, which is a one-hand carry and no planning at all.
Two dB Ratings, Two Different Meanings
62dB is EcoFlow's own maximum for the RIVER 2 Pro, reached when it's charging or discharging at high wattage, not a level it idles at. The Ultra X's 30dB arrives with no equivalent note, so we can't say which operating regime it describes. Two ratings from one maker that aren't necessarily taken the same way don't add up to a gap you can count on hearing. If the unit will sleep in the room with you, buy where you can return it.
Expansion Isn't The Axis Here
The RIVER 2 Pro is sealed at 768Wh and the Ultra X accepts expansion batteries, so on paper only one of them can grow. In practice nobody grows a 17.2 lb carryable into home backup, they buy a second and bigger unit. Size the RIVER for the night you actually have, and let the growth argument belong to the unit that's already wired toward a panel.
1,600W Is The Number To Check
The Ultra X's 3.8x of surge headroom against the RIVER's 2x is a genuine quality signal, but a ratio has never started a motor. If you're buying the RIVER 2 Pro, find the startup draw of the heaviest thing you plan to plug in and hold it against 1,600W, because that single figure decides more than the ratio does. 10ms and 30ms Are Ceilings, Not Stopwatch Results
Both figures are rated limits. The class still matters: a transfer as long as 30ms is one many desktops won't ride through, so expect reboots for sensitive gear on the RIVER 2 Pro, while the Ultra X's no-worse-than-10ms rating is the class that should keep a PC and a router alive. The RIVER 2 Pro's file is thin, and honestly so: most forum discussion doesn't distinguish it from the base RIVER 2 or the Max, and those threads were excluded rather than blurred togetherB0. What survived is mostly about the fan. EcoFlow states in its own footnotes that the unit may reach 62dB when charging and discharging at high wattageB2, and one owner disliked it enough to fit a quieter fan, cutting away internal plastic to make it fitB1. That's one person rather than a chorus, but it's a person who took a knife to a $349 appliance over noise.
Two entries don't support what you would expect them to, and it's worth saying so. The only UPS material is an owner asking whether UPS duty shortens battery life, with no answer attachedB3. Can I start with a RIVER 2 Pro and add capacity later?
