EcoFlow DELTA 3 Ultra Plus vs EcoFlow DELTA 3800 Gen4Bigger Battery, Lighter Box. Why Isn't It the Easy Pick?
The DELTA 4 (3800) fits 691 Wh more battery in a box 6.8 lb lighter, but each watt-hour costs more. I'd buy the Ultra Plus, unless your outages run two nights or you cycle it on solar every day.

Gunner’s take
Whole-Home Backup Tester
EcoFlow made the new box bigger and lighter at once.
The DELTA 4 (3800) holds 3,763 Wh and weighs 67.5 lbB1B7. The DELTA 3 Ultra Plus holds 3,072 Wh and weighs 74.3 lb. That's 691 Wh more battery in a box 6.8 lb lighter.
The inverter no longer separates them.
Both run 3,600 W continuously with a 7,200 W surgeB2, so anything that starts on one starts on the other. What's left to argue about is battery, sun and money.
You pay more per watt-hour for the bigger battery.
The Ultra Plus sells for $1,599 and the DELTA 4 (3800) is listed at $2,199, $600 more for those 691 Wh. EcoFlow says the DELTA 4 ships in late NovemberB10. Whether the extra battery is worth it depends on how long your nights get.
What the Numbers Reveal
Each conclusion stated first — the numbers behind it on one line, the full analysis below.
That leftover is 94% of a second night on the DELTA 4 and 59% on the Ultra Plus. In a two-night outage the DELTA 4 gets through the second evening nearly on its own, and its two solar inputs refill it faster the next morning. The Ultra Plus needs sun or a generator before the second dinner.
8-Hour Blackout needs 1,645 WhLeft over: 1,554 Wh on the DELTA 4 (3800), 966 Wh on the Ultra PlusDELTA 4 (3800): two solar inputs, 2,000 W in allB5
Why it mattersIf your outages run two nights, this is the reason to pay for the bigger box.
Capacity
Because both expand, the bigger base battery isn't the only road to more energy. Someone planning for long outages can start with the Ultra Plus and add an extra battery when the budget allows, and the DELTA 4's 691 Wh lead becomes a small share of either total.
DELTA 3 Ultra Plus: 3,072 Wh at $1,599DELTA 4 (3800): 3,763 Wh at $2,199Both take EcoFlow extra batteries; the DELTA 4 (3800) takes up to twoB6
Why it mattersIf you're buying battery by the dollar, price the Ultra Plus plus an extra battery before you pay the gap.
rated cycles
A box cycled daily from solar uses both of its advantages: the bigger solar input refills it within the day, and the longer rating keeps it going years past the Ultra Plus. A backup box that empties a few times a year uses neither, and still pays for both.
DELTA 4 (3800): rated for 6,000 cycles; DELTA 3 Ultra Plus: 4,000At one full cycle a day: 16.4 years against 11Solar input: 2,000 W across two inputs against 1,600 WB5
Why it mattersDaily off-grid use is where the DELTA 4 (3800) earns its price; storm backup isn't.
The specific dimensions that decide these two units — everything else is a tie.
Your Life, Your Pick
Selected because: The DELTA 4 (3800) takes the two scenarios where leftover battery counts; the rest go to both or neither.
Capacity only splits them when the night runs long. The 8-hour blackout uses 1,645 Wh, and both finish it. The DELTA 4 (3800) ends with nearly a second night in hand. The Ultra Plus ends with a bit over half of one.
Camping goes the same way. Weekend Camping needs 2,100 Wh. The Ultra Plus finishes with 511 Wh spare and the DELTA 4 (3800) with 1,099 Wh, more than twice the cushion. The CPAP night, the workday and the tailgate fit easily in either, and Van Life Daily at 4,685 Wh is past both.
Growth Path
Selected because: Both take EcoFlow extra batteries, so the bigger base battery isn't the only road to more.
solar input
Both expand, which takes some air out of the DELTA 4's lead. EcoFlow lets the DELTA 4 (3800) add two extra batteries, the DELTA Pro 3's or the 2,048 Wh DELTA 3 Max Plus's, and quotes 4 to 12 kWh in allB6. The Ultra Plus takes EcoFlow's extra batteries too. Once one is attached, 691 Wh is a small share of the total.
Our record carries no ceiling for the Ultra Plus, so I won't guess one. If you're building toward a big home kit, check which extra batteries each one takes before you buy. If you never will, the bigger base battery is the DELTA 4's honest advantage.
What the Specs Don't Tell You
Selected because: Same inverter and switchover; the cycle ratings and the weight are where they differ.
rated cycles
The inverter fight is over. Both run 3,600 W with a 7,200 W surge and switch to battery within 10 ms. A fridge, a sump pump and a furnace blower start on either, so motors don't decide this one.
The cycle rating is the DELTA 4's long-game advantage. EcoFlow rates it for 6,000 cycles against 4,000, which at one cycle a day is 16.4 years against 11. Weight barely registers: 67.5 lb against 74.3 lb, and both are a two-handed, bent-knees lift into a car.

Sleep therapy without interruption — the #1 medical use case
Either unit
A CPAP is about 40W for eight hours, so both of these cover the night several times over — capacity isn't the question here. The only published difference is fan noise, and it can't settle this: the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus is rated 30dB and the DELTA 3800 Gen4 40dB, but the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus's is its maker's best case and the DELTA 3800 Gen4's is EcoFlow's maximum under heavy charge and discharge, so at a 40W draw the real gap can only be narrower than it looks, and may even run the other way. Neither settles which box is quieter at a bedside. Buy whichever is cheaper or easier to carry.

Conclusion
November 4, 2026
Verdict: the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Ultra Plus
I'd buy the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus, unless your outages run two nights or you cycle it daily on solar. Both run 3,600 W with a 7,200 W surgeB2, so this is battery against money. The DELTA 4 (3800) holds 3,763 Wh against 3,072 Wh, weighs 6.8 lb less and takes 2,000 W of solar against 1,600 WB5. At $2,199 against $1,599 it also costs more per watt-hour, and the Ultra Plus takes extra batteries too. If a sale brings the DELTA 4 down to the Ultra Plus's price per watt-hour, buy the DELTA 4.

Each unit's star score is a category ranking, not customer reviews — no buyer opinions feed it. We score every station on size-independent quality (value, output, portability, endurance, ports, warranty, and more), then percentile-rank it against the other units in its capacity class, so a class-leading compact unit and a class-leading whole-home unit can both earn 5★. Here, DELTA 3 Ultra Plus rates 4.9/5 (93rd percentile of 29 Large-class units), and DELTA 3800 Gen4 rates 4.1/5 (48th percentile of 22 Home Backup-class units).

Lighter, Still Heavy
The DELTA 4 (3800) is 67.5 lb and the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus is 74.3 lb. Both are two-handed, bent-knees lifts. The 6.8 lb is welcome, and it doesn't make either one a grab-and-go box.
Warranty: No Difference
Both units carry the same 5-year warranty, so coverage isn't a tiebreaker here. Both figures are maximums rather than guarantees — they depend on registering the unit in the EcoFlow app, which adds two years to a three-year standard term. Worth saying because the per-dollar framing can suggest otherwise: the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus works out at 3.1 years of cover per $1,000 spent against the DELTA 3800 Gen4's 2.3, but that spread is the price gap, not the terms.
Where the Bigger Box Pulls Ahead
EcoFlow rates the DELTA 4 (3800) for 6,000 cycles and the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus for 4,000. At one cycle a day, that's 16.4 years against 11. A box that comes out for storms will never get near either, so this only counts if you cycle it daily.

EcoFlow DELTA 3800 Gen4
Nobody owns a DELTA 4 (3800) yet. EcoFlow put it on sale in the US on November 4 and says it ships in late NovemberB10. Everything here is EcoFlow's store page plus our own arithmeticB0B5.
I'd want to load both solar inputs on a short winter day. If I had one, I'd put a different brand's panels on each input, since each takes 11 to 60 VB5, and log what it actually gathers by sundown. EcoFlow says it runs a refrigerator for up to 70 hoursB12, and that's the second claim I'd check, because the second night is the whole case for this box.
“Capacity 3,763 Wh, LFP (LiFePO4) cells. EcoFlow sells it as the DELTA 3800 Gen4; buyers and the press call the pair the DELTA 4.”

“Powers a refrigerator for up to 70 hours, which EcoFlow says is 17 hours (32.6%) longer than the industry average for 3–4 kWh portable power stations. Both figures are EcoFlow's own claims, not our measurement.”

Who Should Buy Which
Buy the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus if you…
- →You want the cheaper watt-hour. $1,599 for 3,072 Wh, and it still takes extra batteries.
- →It lives in an RV or a truck. The 30 A outlet is the RV kind, and there's a 12 V car socket the DELTA 4 (3800) doesn't haveB3.
- →Your outages last an evening. The 8-hour blackout leaves it 966 Wh to spare.
- →You need it now. EcoFlow says the DELTA 4 (3800) ships in late NovemberB10.
Buy the DELTA 3800 Gen4 if you…
- →Your outages run two nights. It ends the 8-hour blackout with 94% of a second night left.
- →It cycles daily on solar. Two inputs take 2,000 W in allB5, and it's rated for 6,000 cycles.
- →You want the most battery before adding a second box. 3,763 Wh against 3,072 Wh, and 6.8 lb lighter.
If neither fits
If you need 240 V for a well pump or a dryer, neither has it. Look at a unit with 240 V outlets instead. And if your day looks like Van Life Daily at 4,685 Wh, plan on an extra battery from the start with either.
The Bottom Line
I'd buy the DELTA 3 Ultra Plus. Same inverter, an RV outlet and a car socket, room to expand, and the cheaper watt-hour of the two.
Pay for the DELTA 4 (3800) if your outages run two nights or your panels run it every day. That's where the second night and the 6,000-cycle rating stop being specs and start being the reason.
