EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus vs EcoFlow DELTA 3000 Gen450% More Battery, Zero Room to Grow. Does That Matter?

EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus vs EcoFlow DELTA 3000 Gen4: the DELTA 4 (3000) holds 3,072 Wh against 2,048 Wh and runs 3,600 W against 3,000 W for 6.6 lb more, but it's sealed. I'd buy it, unless you'll grow past 3,072 Wh or need a 12 V car socket, which only the Max Plus has.

Gunner’s take

Whole-Home Backup Tester

The DELTA 4 (3000) carries half again the battery for 6.6 lb more.

It holds 3,072 Wh at 57.3 lb. The DELTA 3 Max Plus holds 2,048 Wh at 50.7 lb. The new box also runs a bigger inverter, 3,600 W against 3,000 W, with a 7,200 W surge against 6,000 W.

The bigger box costs about the same per watt-hour.

EcoFlow lists the DELTA 4 (3000) at $1,699 on its US storeB10, $500 more than the Max Plus at $1,199. That gap buys 1,024 Wh of battery, 600 W more inverter and a 6,000-cycle rating where the Max Plus has 4,000.

What it gives up is the door.

The DELTA 4 (3000) has no extra-battery portB6. The 3,072 Wh you buy is all it will ever hold. The Max Plus starts smaller and takes EcoFlow's extra batteries up to 10kWhA4, and that one difference decides this page for anyone whose needs are still growing.

What the Numbers Reveal

Each conclusion stated first — the numbers behind it on one line, the full analysis below.

F1

Capacity

The Max Plus runs out 359 Wh short of the weekend, and the DELTA 4 (3000) finishes with 511 Wh left. On a blackout night the Max Plus gets through with 96 Wh, 6% of a second night. The DELTA 4 (3000) still holds 59% of a second night, so the next evening starts on battery instead of a flashlight.

DELTA 4 (3000): 3,072 Wh; DELTA 3 Max Plus: 2,048 WhWeekend Camping needs 2,100 Wh; the Max Plus has 1,741 Wh usable after the flat 85% derate8-Hour Blackout: 966 Wh left on the DELTA 4 (3000), 96 Wh on the Max Plus

Why it mattersIf an outage or a camping trip has ever run past one day, the bigger battery is the reason to pay the gap.

F2

The Max Plus's first extra battery spends itself catching up to a box that arrived with 3,072 Wh, and that battery is money on top of $1,199. Past that point the Max Plus keeps going and the DELTA 4 (3000) stops. A daily off-grid day like our Van Life Daily is out of reach for both on their own, and only the Max Plus can add its way toward it.

DELTA 4 (3000): no extra-battery port, sealed at 3,072 WhB6DELTA 3 Max Plus: takes EcoFlow's extra batteries up to 10kWhA4Van Life Daily needs 4,685 Wh: the DELTA 4 (3000) is 2,074 Wh short, the Max Plus 2,944 Wh short

Why it mattersIf you can already picture yourself adding batteries, start with the Max Plus. If one box is the whole plan, the sealed one is bigger.

F3

cost / lifetime kWh

Per lifetime kWh it costs $0.09 against $0.15. That only bites if the box works every day. Run it off solar every evening and the DELTA 4 (3000)'s rating lasts 16.4 years of daily cycles against 11 for the Max Plus.

DELTA 4 (3000): 6,000 cycles at 3,072 Wh, about 18,432 kWh over its rated lifeDELTA 3 Max Plus: 4,000 cycles at 2,048 Wh, about 8,192 kWhCost per lifetime kWh: $0.09 against $0.15

Why it mattersIf it will cycle daily, the DELTA 4 (3000) is the cheaper box to own, gap included.

The specific dimensions that decide these two units — everything else is a tie.

Your Life, Your Pick

Selected because: Weekend Camping splits them: 511 Wh to spare on the DELTA 4 (3000) against 359 Wh short on the Max Plus.

The weekend is where the smaller battery runs dry. Weekend Camping needs 2,100 Wh. After the flat 85% we count as usable, the Max Plus has 1,741 Wh and comes up 359 Wh short before Sunday is over. The DELTA 4 (3000) finishes with 511 Wh left.

The blackout looks like a tie until the second night. Both get through eight hours. The Max Plus ends at 94% used with 96 Wh, the DELTA 4 (3000) at 63% used with 966 Wh. If the lights stay off into a second evening, only one of them still has something to give. A CPAP night, a workday and a tailgate fit either one easily.

Growth Path

Selected because: Only the Max Plus takes extra batteries. The DELTA 4 (3000) is sealed at 3,072 Wh.

The Max Plus is the one with a door. It takes EcoFlow's extra batteries, up to 10kWh in allA4. The DELTA 4 (3000) has no extra-battery portB6, so it never holds more than the day it arrives. If you want a DELTA 4 that grows, EcoFlow builds that as the bigger modelB6.

I wouldn't buy the Max Plus just to expand it to this size. Its first extra battery mostly pays to catch up on 1,024 Wh the DELTA 4 (3000) already includes, and it's money on top of $1,199. Expansion earns its keep only if you'll keep going past 3,072 Wh, toward a battery that grows with the house.

Lifetime Value

Selected because: 6,000 cycles at 3,072 Wh against 4,000 cycles at 2,048 Wh.

cost / lifetime kWh

Over its rated life, the DELTA 4 (3000) moves more than twice the energy. 6,000 cycles at 3,072 Wh comes to about 18,432 kWh. The Max Plus's 4,000 cycles at 2,048 Wh comes to about 8,192 kWh. That works out to $0.09 per lifetime kWh against $0.15.

It only matters if the box works for a living. A backup that runs a few nights a year won't come near either rating. One that runs off panels every evening is spending cycles, and there the sealed box is the cheaper one to own, gap and all.

Portability & Form Factor

Selected because: 57.3 lb against 50.7 lb, and only the Max Plus has a 12 V car socket.

weight

The bigger battery costs 6.6 lb, and I'd barely feel it. 57.3 lb against 50.7 lb is the same one-person lift into a trunk. The DELTA 4 (3000) carries by a handle at each end, and EcoFlow sells a folding cart for it separatelyB7.

I'd check the car socket before the scale. Our record gives the Max Plus a 12 V car socket and the DELTA 4 (3000) noneB3. If the camping plan is a 12 V fridge on a car-style plug, that alone points to the Max Plus. On USB-C the DELTA 4 (3000) runs its two smaller ports at 65 W against 45 W.

Conclusion

November 4, 2026

Verdict: the DELTA 3000 Gen4, on Power Score margin

I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3000), unless you'll outgrow 3,072 Wh. For $500 more it holds 1,024 Wh more, runs 3,600 W against 3,000 W and carries a 6,000-cycle rating against 4,000, at about the same money per watt-hour. That battery is what finishes our camping weekend, which the Max Plus misses by 359 Wh. What you give up is the door: no extra-battery portB6, no 12 V car socketB3, and it ships in early DecemberB10. The Max Plus takes extra batteries up to 10kWhA4, so anyone planning to grow, or needing power before December, should take the Max Plus.

Class ranking (the star rating)

Each unit's star score is a category ranking, not customer reviews — no buyer opinions feed it. We score every station on size-independent quality (value, output, portability, endurance, ports, warranty, and more), then percentile-rank it against the other units in its capacity class, so a class-leading compact unit and a class-leading whole-home unit can both earn 5★. Here, DELTA 3 Max Plus rates 4.2/5 (54th percentile of 29 Large-class units), and DELTA 3000 Gen4 rates 4.8/5 (86th percentile of 29 Large-class units).

Test Notes & Caveats

Hidden gotchas and advantages we spotted that you won't find on the product page.

[NOTE]

Sealed at 3,072 Wh

The DELTA 4 (3000) has no extra-battery port, so 3,072 Wh is the ceiling. The Max Plus starts at 2,048 Wh and takes extra batteries. Its first one mostly catches up, so expansion only wins if you'd keep going past 3,072 Wh.

[NOTE]

Warranty: No Difference

Both units carry the same 5-year warranty, so coverage isn't a tiebreaker here. Both figures are maximums rather than guarantees — they depend on registering the unit in the EcoFlow app, which adds two years to a three-year standard term. Worth saying because the per-dollar framing can suggest otherwise: the DELTA 3 Max Plus works out at 4.2 years of cover per $1,000 spent against the DELTA 3000 Gen4's 2.9, but that spread is the price gap, not the terms.

[NOTE]

Battery Lifespan in Real Years

The DELTA 3000 Gen4 is rated for 6,000 cycles vs 4,000. In real life: at daily use, that's 16.4 vs 11 years. At weekend use (twice a week), it's 58 vs 38 years. One caution reading years across different sizes: a cycle is 3,072Wh on the DELTA 3000 Gen4 and 2,048Wh on the DELTA 3 Max Plus, so count lifetime energy — roughly 18,432 kWh against 8,192 kWh over the rated life. After hitting the cycle limit, the battery doesn't die — it drops to ~80% of original capacity, which is still very usable.

Analyst note

The DELTA 3 Max Plus is cheaper to buy, but the DELTA 3000 Gen4 is cheaper to own. At $0.09/kWh over its lifetime vs $0.15/kWh, the DELTA 3000 Gen4's higher cycle life and capacity make each dollar go further over the years.

DELTA 3 Max Plus

EXPANDABLE

Supports EcoFlow expansion batteries, so you can add capacity later without replacing the base unit — useful if your needs may climb past 2,048Wh.

Accepts up to 1,000W of solar. Enough for a serious multi-panel array.

Adequate ports for most setups, but heavy users may want a power strip.

Expansion batteries are EcoFlow-specific. You're investing in the EcoFlow ecosystem.

DELTA 3000 Gen4

FIXED CAPACITY

Fixed at 3,072Wh — a sealed, complete system rather than a starting point. There's no expansion port, so that figure is the ceiling: check it against your longest unplugged stretch before you buy.

DELTA 3 Max PlusDELTA 3000 Gen4

Analyst note

Don't read the DELTA 3 Max Plus's expandability as a straight win here: it starts at 2,048Wh, below the DELTA 3000 Gen4's 3,072Wh, so a first expansion battery largely buys back capacity the DELTA 3000 Gen4 already includes. It only pulls ahead if you'd grow past 3,072Wh — short of that, the DELTA 3000 Gen4's larger fixed capacity is the simpler value.

I'd want to test its wall charger on a shared circuit. At 1,800 W on 120 V it draws 15 A, the full rating of an ordinary 15 A circuitB4. If I had one, I'd plug it into a garage outlet that shares a circuit with the freezer, run a full-rate charge and see whether the breaker holds. My guess is I'd end up turning the rate down in the appB4.

“Capacity 3,072 Wh, LFP (LiFePO4) cells. EcoFlow sells it as the DELTA 3000 Gen4; buyers and the press call the pair the DELTA 4.”
