EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic vs EcoFlow DELTA 3800 Gen43.7 Classics of Battery, With Room for Two More. Need It?
The Classic stops at 1,024 Wh, while the DELTA 4 (3800) starts at 3,763 Wh, refills from the sun just as fast and takes extra batteries. I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3800) if your outages run past one night, and the Classic if one night is all you plan for.

Gunner’s take
Whole-Home Backup Tester
The DELTA 4 (3800) refills from the sun as fast as the Classic does, with 3.7 times the battery.
It holds 3,763 Wh to the Classic's 1,024 Wh, and it takes up to 1,000 W on each of two solar inputsB5 against the Classic's 500 W on one. With both inputs maxed, a flat battery fills in no more time than the Classic needs at its limit.
The catch is the panels and the lift.
Filling it that fast takes four times the panel wattage the Classic can use, and the box weighs 67.5 lb against 26.7 lb. At $2,199 against $499, it also costs more per watt-hour on the shelf, so this is no bulk discount.
What the money buys is a system that keeps going.
The DELTA 4 (3800) takes up to two extra batteries through EcoFlow's expansion adapter, and EcoFlow quotes 4 to 12 kWh in allB6. The Classic is sealed at 1,024 Wh. EcoFlow put the DELTA 4 (3800) on sale on November 4 and says it ships in late NovemberB10, while the Classic is on sale now.
What the Numbers Reveal
Each conclusion stated first — the numbers behind it on one line, the full analysis below.
solar input
In an outage that runs for days, the battery you can refill by evening matters as much as the one you started with. On a good day the DELTA 4 (3800) banks 3,763 Wh in the hours the Classic needs for 1,024. It only does that with 2,000 W of panels split across both inputs.
DELTA 3 Classic: 1,024 Wh, one 500 W solar inputDELTA 4 (3800): 3,763 Wh, two solar inputs at up to 1,000 W each, 2,000 W in all, 11 to 60 V per inputB5Two review outlets call the Classic's 500 W solar input its limitA5A9
Why it mattersIf you'd ride out a multi-day outage on solar, the DELTA 4 (3800) is the one that keeps up, and the panels belong in the budget.
The Classic has no such move. Its next step is a second station, and even two Classics land well short of a van-life day. The DELTA 4 (3800) turns a shortfall into a shopping list.
DELTA 3 Classic: sealed at 1,024 WhDELTA 4 (3800): up to two extra batteries, the 2,048 Wh DELTA 3 Max Plus battery or the DELTA Pro 3 battery; EcoFlow quotes 4 to 12 kWhB6Van Life Daily needs 4,685 Wh; the DELTA 4 (3800) alone is 1,486 Wh short
Why it mattersIf your needs might climb toward a van or more of the house, the DELTA 4 (3800) is the one that can follow them.
weight
So the extra battery pays only if you drain it. A CPAP night barely dents either one, and on that night the DELTA 4 (3800) is 40.8 lb of battery hauled to the bedroom for nothing.
Catalogue cost per watt-hour: lower for the DELTA 3 Classic than for the DELTA 4 (3800)Weight: 67.5 lb against 26.7 lbCPAP Overnight uses 37% of the Classic's usable battery and 10% of the DELTA 4 (3800)'s
Why it mattersIf one night is the longest you plan for, the Classic does it for less per watt-hour at well under half the weight.
The specific dimensions that decide these two units — everything else is a tie.
Growth Path
Selected because: The Classic stops at 1,024 Wh; the DELTA 4 (3800) takes EcoFlow's extra batteries.
solar input
The Classic is a finished system, and the DELTA 4 (3800) is the start of one. It takes up to two extra batteries through EcoFlow's expansion adapter: the DELTA 3 Max Plus battery at 2,048 Wh, or the DELTA Pro 3 batteryB6. EcoFlow quotes 4 to 12 kWh in allB6.
If you already own a DELTA 3 Max Plus extra battery, the sums change. It plugs into this box's battery portB6, so the first expansion costs nothing new. A Classic owner who outgrows 1,024 Wh is shopping for a second station.
Your Life, Your Pick
Selected because: The DELTA 4 (3800) finishes five of our six days on its own battery; the Classic finishes two.
The Classic's days end at bedtime. It covers a CPAP night and a tailgate, and comes up short on the workday, the blackout and the camping weekend. The DELTA 4 (3800) finishes all three with at least 1,099 Wh left each time.
Van Life Daily is where the battery port earns its keep. The DELTA 4 (3800) alone is 1,486 Wh short of the 4,685 Wh day, and one extra battery closes that on paperB6. The Classic has no way to get there.
What the Specs Don't Tell You
Selected because: 67.5 lb against 26.7 lb, and only one of the two can grow.
rated cycles
At 67.5 lb, the DELTA 4 (3800) moves like furniture. It has a handle at each end, and EcoFlow sells a folding cart for it separatelyB7. The Classic at 26.7 lb goes in the car with one hand on its centered handleA11.
The paperwork is a draw, and the battery rating isn't. Both carry three years plus two more when you register in the EcoFlow appB9, and the DELTA 4 (3800) is rated for twice the Classic's cycles. Each of its cycles is 3.7 times the energy, so that rating matters most to someone who'll charge it from the sun every day.

Conclusion
November 4, 2026
Verdict: the DELTA 3800 Gen4, on Power Score margin
For outages that run past one night, I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3800). It holds 3,763 Wh against 1,024 Wh, takes 2,000 W of solar across two inputsB5, and accepts up to two extra batteriesB6. It costs more per watt-hour on the shelf than the Classic, so you're paying for runtime, solar and room to grow, not a bulk discount. EcoFlow says it ships in late NovemberB10. If one night is your longest job, the call flips: the Classic does that night for $499 at well under half the weight.

Each unit's star score is a category ranking, not customer reviews — no buyer opinions feed it. We score every station on size-independent quality (value, output, portability, endurance, ports, warranty, and more), then percentile-rank it against the other units in its capacity class, so a class-leading compact unit and a class-leading whole-home unit can both earn 5★. Here, DELTA 3 Classic rates 4.0/5 (42nd percentile of 27 Everyday-class units), and DELTA 3800 Gen4 rates 4.1/5 (48th percentile of 22 Home Backup-class units).

Two Hands and a Plan
The DELTA 4 (3800) is 67.5 lb against the Classic's 26.7 lb, 40.8 lb more for 2,739 Wh more battery. Pick the spot it lives in before you decide how often it moves.
The Classic Stops at 1,024 Wh
The Classic is sealed. The DELTA 4 (3800) starts at 3,763 Wh and takes EcoFlow's extra batteries, so it's the only one of the two that can grow into a van or a longer outage.
Warranty: No Difference
Both units carry the same 5-year warranty, so coverage isn't a tiebreaker here. Both figures are maximums rather than guarantees — they depend on registering the unit in the EcoFlow app, which adds two years to a three-year standard term. Worth saying because the per-dollar framing can suggest otherwise: the DELTA 3 Classic works out at 10 years of cover per $1,000 spent against the DELTA 3800 Gen4's 2.3, but that spread is the price gap, not the terms.
Battery Lifespan in Real Years
The DELTA 3800 Gen4 is rated for 6,000 cycles vs 3,000. In real life: at daily use, that's 16.4 vs 8.2 years. At weekend use (twice a week), it's 58 vs 29 years. One caution reading years across different sizes: a cycle is 3,763Wh on the DELTA 3800 Gen4 and 1,024Wh on the DELTA 3 Classic, so count lifetime energy — roughly 22,578 kWh against 3,072 kWh over the rated life. After hitting the cycle limit, the battery doesn't die — it drops to ~80% of original capacity, which is still very usable.

Analyst note
The DELTA 3 Classic is cheaper to buy, but the DELTA 3800 Gen4 is cheaper to own. At $0.10/kWh over its lifetime vs $0.16/kWh, the DELTA 3800 Gen4's higher cycle life and capacity make each dollar go further over the years.

What Owners Report
Patterns from published owner reports and long-term reviews — every claim cited to its source below.
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic
Reviewers like the Classic's software and dislike its solar cap. One called the app one of the best-designed on the marketA6, and another found Storm Guard, which tops the battery up ahead of a forecast storm, genuinely usefulA12. Two outlets flag the 500 W solar input as the unit's real limitA5A9.
It starts more than its size suggests. One tester ran a small window AC from it and found the 1,800 W inverter handled the startup but the runtime ran shortA10. Treat all of it as an early snapshot: the Classic launched in March 2026, and long-term owner reports don't exist yetA0.
“In our tests, the DELTA 3 Classic charged from empty to full plugged into a standard wall outlet in just shy of 55 minutes.”

EcoFlow DELTA 3800 Gen4
Nobody owns a DELTA 4 (3800) yet. EcoFlow put it on sale on November 4 and says it ships in late NovemberB10, so this page leans on EcoFlow's US store page and our own catalogue figuresB0B5.
I'd want to hang a string of panels on each input and watch one sunny day. A string is just panels wired in series, and EcoFlow says each input takes 11 to 60 V and up to 1,000 WB5. If I had one, I'd check the screen at noon. Close to 2,000 W would make the quick refill real, and half that would send me looking for the reason.
“Capacity 3,763 Wh, LFP (LiFePO4) cells. EcoFlow sells it as the DELTA 3800 Gen4; buyers and the press call the pair the DELTA 4.”

- →You already own a DELTA 3 Max Plus extra battery. It plugs into this one's battery portB6.
- →You can wait a few weeks. EcoFlow says it ships in late NovemberB10.
If neither fits
If anything in your house runs on 240 V, close this tab. Neither has a 240 V outlet, so a 240 V well pump or an electric dryer needs a station with split-phase output.
The Bottom Line
If your outages run past one night, I'd buy the DELTA 4 (3800). It refills 3,763 Wh in the sun the Classic needs for 1,024 WhB5, and it has a port for the batteries you'll want laterB6.
If one night is the longest you plan for, buy the Classic. It costs less per watt-hour, weighs well under half as much, and it's on sale now.

It takes up to 1,000 W on each of two inputs, 2,000 W in all. With enough panels on both, it fills its 3,763 Wh battery in a little less time than the DELTA 3 Classic fills 1,024 Wh at its 500 W limit.

Does the DELTA 4 (3800) have a 240 V outlet?
No. The US unit puts out 120 V, rated 3,600 W continuous with a 7,200 W surge. Neither it nor the DELTA 3 Classic has 240 V, so a 240 V well pump or dryer needs a different station.
