$309 buys 960Wh from EcoFlow. $379 buys 512Wh from DJI. The cheaper box is also the bigger box by 448 watt-hours, and a comparison where price and capacity point the same direction usually ends in the first paragraph.

This one doesn't, because the Air's inverter is rated 500W continuous with an 800W X-Boost mode that only helps on certain loadsA1, while the Power 500 does a flat 1,000W. All that extra EcoFlow energy has to fit through a smaller door. Reviewers have run the DJI at 905W and watched it briefly ride a 1,500W spike above its own ratingB3; the Air won't run a space heater or a hair dryer at allA3.

So the real question isn't which is better value. It's whether anything you plan to plug in draws more than 500 watts. If nothing does, take the EcoFlow and keep the $70. If something does, the EcoFlow isn't cheaper, it's just unable, and the DJI is the only unit on this page for you.

What the Specs Don't Tell You

The 18W USB-C port is the flag that will irritate you daily rather than dramatically. One 100W port on the DJI runs a laptop directly; 18W charges a phone while it's asleep. Everything else routes through the AC outlet and a brick you now have to keep on the desk.

The warranty flag cuts the other way and cuts deeper. Five covered years for $379 is $76 a year; two for $309 is $155. EcoFlow doesn't sell parts or service out of warranty, and on a unit that's left the catalogueA4, year three is where you find out what that means.

The DJI's 4,000-cycle rating is the better number on paper and the worse one in practice, because cycle count only converts to energy through capacity. Over the rated life that's 2,048 kWh from the DJI against 2,880 kWh from the EcoFlow, and the unit that stores less finishes 832 kWh behind while asking $70 more to start.

Cycle ratings are lab figures on both sides, which is the honest caveat to all of this. The three extra years of DJI coverage are the only thing here that hedges the assumption, and that hedge is precisely what the price gap buys.

Your Life, Your Pick

Four of the six loads overrun both units, and that's the useful headline. These are a 512Wh box and a 960Wh box. Weekend camping at 2,100Wh, an eight-hour outage at 1,645Wh, van life at 4,685Wh a day: all of those are multiples away, not near misses.

Brand Trust

EcoFlow brings 12-15 models plus panels and home panels, and roughly 31,000 people on Reddit who have probably already had your problem. DJI brings four power station models, a 2024 arrival in the category, and a support and repair network built for drones. None of that helps at 9pm when a unit won't switch on. The warranty does, and DJI's is two and a half times longer.

EcoFlow's support record is polarized: prepaid labels and fast swaps at one end, long waits and refurbished replacements for new claims at the other, which is a solid argument for buying through a retailer with its own return window. Take the DELTA 3 1000 Air at $309 unless something on your load list draws more than 500W. Across rated cycle life that works out to $0.11 per kilowatt-hour against $0.19. 18W is a phone port, not a laptop port

The Air's USB-C tops out at 18W against the Power 500's 100W. Phones and tablets won't notice. A laptop will: it goes back to the AC outlet and its own brick, spending part of a 500W inverter budget on a job the DJI does straight off the port. If your desk has already gone USB-C only, this one flag is worth more than the EcoFlow's 448 extra watt-hours.

Double the headroom, same ceiling

The Air's 1,000W surge is twice its 500W continuous rating; the DJI's 1,000W surge is exactly its continuous rating, with nothing above it. That reads as an EcoFlow advantage, and as a ratio it is. Then you notice both units peak at the same 1,000W, and that the DJI can sit at 1,000W all day while the Air can only touch it. Headroom is a ratio. Watts are watts.

UPS Switchover: ≤10ms vs ≤20ms

Both list a UPS mode, at different rated speeds. The DELTA 3 1000 Air is rated ≤10ms — quick enough on paper that desktop PCs and routers should ride through, treating that as the rating it is. The Power 500 is rated ≤20ms — fine on paper for routers and most electronics; the fussiest PC power supplies sit right at this line. If a computer with unsaved work is the thing being protected, the stated class is worth the attention; nothing here is a lab result.

Check your load list before you order, though.
