$349 buys 768Wh here. $379 buys 512Wh. The cheaper unit on this page is also the bigger one, which usually means something got traded away somewhere, and on the RIVER 2 Pro it did: the fan.
62dB under load against 25dB. That's not a preference gap, it's the difference between a box you keep in the garage and a box you can sleep beside. It's also why the only scenario both units actually cover, a CPAP overnight, goes to the DJI despite the RIVER 2 Pro finishing the same 320Wh with half its battery still in reserve.

The RIVER 2 Pro's 62dB rating applies when it's charging or discharging hard, not when it's trickling a laptop, so the penalty is real but situational. The question was never how loud the fan gets. On a box in this price bracket the brand question is narrow: who picks up in year four. EcoFlow brings 12-15 models, roughly 31K people on r/Ecoflow_community, and a support reputation that splits down the middle between hassle-free prepaid-label replacements and long waits that end in a refurbished unit. DJI has been building power stations only since 2024 and has no power-station community at all, but it routes service through the repair network it built for drones, which is a better inheritance than most new entrants get.
Both warrant five years. EcoFlow states outright that it offers no parts or service past that, and it carries an October 2025 DELTA Max 2000 recall on the record, though that's a different product line and a far bigger battery. DJI's app scores 3.5/5, but that rating covers the whole DJI ecosystem including drones and cameras, so read it as noise rather than a verdict on this unit. It's 768Wh against 512Wh, 1,600W of surge against a flat 1,000W, and 2,304 kWh of energy across its life against 2,048 kWh, all while costing less than the $379 DJI. The Power 500 wins exactly one thing, and it wins it decisively: 25dB against the RIVER 2 Pro's rated 62dB under load, which is why the CPAP night goes to the DJI even though the EcoFlow covers that same 320Wh using 49% of its battery to the DJI's 74%. 62dB is the RIVER 2 Pro's rated figure for charging or discharging at high wattage, not the sound it makes trickling a laptop. The Power 500 is rated 25dB, at the quiet end of anything in this class. Put the RIVER 2 Pro in a garage, a truck bed or a hallway and this card costs you nothing. Put it at the foot of the bed during a fast charge and it's the loudest object in the room.
1,600W Peak Against a Flat 1,000W
The RIVER 2 Pro runs 800W and peaks at 1,600W, exactly double, which is the reserve a fridge compressor swallows in its first second. The Power 500 runs 1,000W and peaks at 1,000W, so the 200W it gains in continuous output it gives back in headroom. For steady loads the DJI is the stronger inverter. 20ms Against 30ms, Both Standby

Testers ran a 905W load through it and briefly saw 1,500W pass a 1,000W-rated inverter, and found it more efficient in testing than DJI's larger Power 1000B3.
