The Pioneer Na is what you get, permanently. That's only a genuine knock because it's the smaller unit to begin with: fixed at 900Wh while the DELTA 3 Max starts at 2,048Wh and takes expansion batteries from there. Worth saying against our own pick though. Expansion batteries are a second purchase at a second price and most people never make it, so judge the DELTA 3 Max on the 2,048Wh it ships with and treat the expansion port as insurance you probably won't file on.

The Pioneer Na uses sodium-ion cells, which keep accepting a charge in sub-freezing cold. The Bottom Line

Take the DELTA 3 Max unless you're charging in the cold. It's the cheaper unit and it holds more than twice the energy, which is a strange enough sentence on its own. Add that it's quieter, surges harder, accepts twice the solar and carries two more years of warranty, and there's no angle left from which the Pioneer Na is the better general-purpose buy. Both are rated 4,000 cycles, so even the durability pitch comes out even.

The exception is real and it's narrow. If your battery is going to sit below freezing and still need to take a charge, the Pioneer Na does something the DELTA 3 Max can't, and the capacity you surrender is simply what that costs.
