Take the Elite 30 V2. At $239 it's the cheaper box to buy and, at 3,000 LFP cycles against the Yeti 1500X's 500 NMC cycles, the cheaper one to own by a factor of five per kilowatt-hour delivered. It also carries the only UPS mode on the table and a 140W USB-C port against the Yeti's 60W. The condition that reverses this is specific and easy to check: the Elite has 245Wh usable, so anything that needs more in one sitting is outside it entirely. A CPAP night at 320Wh, a remote workday at 910Wh, a tailgate at 670Wh: the Yeti finishes all three and the Elite finishes none of them. If that's your load, buy the capacity. The Elite's Ceiling Is What You Buy
288Wh is the whole story on the Elite 30 V2. There's no expansion battery for it, so the upgrade path is a second unit. The Yeti 1500X does take Goal Zero expansion batteries, and that's a genuine advantage with a limit worth stating: at this size, expansion buys more hours on the same appliances rather than a step up to home backup. Sealed only hurts if you're going to outgrow 288Wh, and if you know you are, buy bigger now instead of buying twice.
Elite 30 V2: Power Lifting to 1,500W
The Elite 30 V2 has BLUETTI's Power Lifting mode, which runs a resistive appliance rated up to 1,500W from its 600W inverter. It does that by delivering less power than the appliance asks for, not more than the inverter has: the heater still works, it just heats more slowly. Two things follow. BLUETTI scopes the mode to purely resistive loads — a heater, a kettle, an incandescent lamp — so it does nothing for a fridge compressor, a pump or a power tool, and this record publishes no surge figure at all, so read the mode as a resistive-load feature rather than as starting ability. And it is not a reason to size down, because running a load that big from 288Wh is a short session either way. Weekend camping at 2,100Wh, an eight-hour blackout at 1,645Wh, van life at 4,685Wh: neither box finishes any of the three, and the Yeti gets closest at 78% of the blackout, which still means the lights go out before the grid comes back. If that's you, close this tab and shop well above 1,516Wh in current LFP, far enough above it that the 1,645Wh night has room to spare. Sizing up once is cheaper than buying twice.
The Bottom Line
The Elite 30 V2 is the buy. The $239 pack is rated to deliver more total energy across its life than the $1,125 pack, at about a fifth the cost per kilowatt-hour delivered. A tougher case, a bigger inverter and an expansion port are real advantages. None of them is worth five times the price of the energy.
The one thing that reverses it is your own load, and checking takes thirty seconds. Add up an evening. Under 245Wh, buy the Elite and stop reading. Between there and 1,289Wh, the Yeti is the only box here that finishes the job, and the question becomes whether you want that capacity on a 500-cycle pack. Above that, neither of these is your unit. Go up a size before you buy the wrong one twice.

Can the BLUETTI Elite 30 V2 run a CPAP all night?
No. It holds 245Wh usable against the 320Wh a night on a CPAP takes here, so it stops 75Wh short, about three-quarters of the way to morning. It's fine for a nap, an afternoon of small loads, or catching a grid flicker on its UPS mode. For a full night you need about a third more usable energy than it has, and the Yeti 1500X covers the same night with 969Wh to spare.
Why would a $239 BLUETTI last longer than a $1,125 Goal Zero?
Chemistry, not build quality. The Elite 30 V2 uses LFP cells rated for 3,000 cycles; the Yeti 1500X uses NMC rated for 500 cycles to 80% capacity, which works out to roughly three to five years of typical use. Cycled daily that's 8.2 years against 1.4. Cycled twice a week it's 29 years against 5. The Yeti isn't badly made, it's a previous-generation pack.
Does the Goal Zero Yeti 1500X have a UPS mode?
Its spec sheet doesn't list one, so treat the answer as no. Gear plugged into it stays up through an outage only if it was already running off the battery. The Elite 30 V2 does list a UPS mode, rated at a 10ms or better handover, which is a published ceiling rather than a measured switching time. That makes the small box the better router backup and the big box the better overnight battery.
Which one is quieter?
There's no honest way to answer that with numbers. BLUETTI publishes 30 dB for the Elite 30 V2 and Goal Zero publishes no noise figure for the Yeti 1500X, or for any of its units. Published dB figures are usually best-case floors anyway rather than levels under load. Separate reviewers describe the Elite as quiet even once the fan kicks in and the Yeti as quiet in sustained use, which is as far as either has earned.
Can I add more capacity to the Elite 30 V2 later?
No. It's sealed at 288Wh with no expansion battery, so size it correctly up front or plan on buying a second one. The Yeti 1500X does take Goal Zero expansion batteries, but at 1,516Wh that buys longer runtimes on the same appliances rather than a home-backup system. It gets longer, not bigger.
