Treat that spike as a tester's observation and not as a specification, because DJI doesn't publish any headroom above 1,000W. Plan your loads against the published number.

If neither fits
If your list looks like the 2,100Wh camping weekend or the 4,685Wh van-life day, close the tab. The Elite comes up 337Wh short of the first and 2,922Wh short of the second, neither unit has an expansion port to fix it, and covering those against the same 85% derate takes roughly 2,500Wh and 5,500Wh on the label. Shop that size class instead, or if the load lives in a vehicle full time, look at a proper 12V house bank with its own inverter rather than a portable station at all.

Take the Elite 200 V2 unless the unit has to move. Four times the energy for less money per watt-hour is the argument, and it holds at every horizon you can check: cheaper the day you buy it, cheaper across 6,000 cycles, and the only one of the two that finishes the eight-hour blackout that most people are really shopping for. The identical 5-year warranties mean there's no coverage story pointing the other way.
The Power 500 is a different tool rather than a worse one, and 16.1 lbs is what you're buying with the price difference. Be honest about which problem you have before you decide which of those is the bargain. And if your problem is a 2,100Wh camping weekend, it's neither of these, so go up a size class and don't let the gap between these two talk you onto the wrong shelf.

Is the DJI Power 500 enough for a power outage?
For a short one, yes; for the 1,645Wh eight-hour profile, no. Its 512Wh nameplate is 435Wh usable after the 85% inverter derate, which leaves it 1,210Wh short of that night. It comfortably covers a 320Wh CPAP session, phones and a laptop. It does not cover an evening of household load, and that's the job people usually have in mind.
Why is the bigger BLUETTI cheaper per watt-hour than the small DJI?
$899 divided by 2,073.6Wh is $0.43 a watt-hour; $299 divided by 512Wh is $0.74. Every station pays for an inverter, a case, a screen and control electronics whether it holds 512Wh or four times that, and the larger pack spreads that fixed cost across far more cells. Can either of these run a refrigerator?

Is 53.4 lbs actually a problem?
