My first power station was a little Jackery Explorer 240, so I have a soft spot for this size. It is the size you carry without thinking. It is also the size that runs out. The RIVER 3 PLUS holds 286Wh and the Explorer 600 v2 holds 640Wh, and most of this page follows from that gap. One thing to know before reading on: Jackery's store has had the Explorer 600 v2 sold out since July 2026, so this page shows it no price.
The clearest split is a CPAP machine overnight, about 320Wh in our scenario. The Explorer 600 v2 finishes the night with plenty left. The RIVER 3 PLUS runs out before morning, short by about a quarter of the job.
The RIVER 3 PLUS still has a case. It weighs 10.4 lbs to the Explorer's 14.1, and its inverter, the part that makes household AC, is the stronger of the two. You can also add an EcoFlow battery to it later. If your days are phones, a camera and a laptop, the lighter box is the one you'll bring.

If I knew I'd need more than 640Wh, I'd check that first. If I didn't, I'd rather start with the bigger box than buy my way up to it.

The RIVER 3 PLUS has the quicker UPS rating. In UPS mode the box sits between the wall and your gear and takes over when the grid drops. Routers should ride through either rating. The fussiest desktop power supplies sit near the Explorer's.
Both publish a 30dB noise figure, and the two numbers mean different things. EcoFlow quotes the RIVER's as a maximum, reached under heavy charging or output. Most other makers quote a quiet best case. So the matching figures can't tell you which is quieter.
