You can't buy either of these from EcoFlow any more. It now sells the RIVER 2 Max 500 in place of one, and the closest thing it still sells to the other is the RIVER 2 Pro. So this page is for someone who already owns one, or who has spotted one in a retailer's leftover stock.
They're two generations of the same small EcoFlow. The RIVER 2 Max is one sealed box of 512Wh. The RIVER 3 MAX PLUS is a RIVER 3 Plus with EcoFlow's bigger extra battery attached, 858Wh in allB2. It's 7.4 pounds heavier, but it comes apart into two pieces.
In the back of my Outback, I'd notice the weight before the capacity. Then I'd notice the RIVER 2 Max fills from the wall in about an hourA2, where the bigger one takes a bit over twoB1. The extra battery buys you a tailgate afternoon. The lighter box buys you a quicker morning.
