Solar panels for the EcoFlow DELTA 3

The DELTA 3 has one DC socket for solar, and the car charging cable uses it too. It is an XT60i, the connector on EcoFlow's own solar charging cable, rated for 11 to 60 volts and 500 W. Thirty-one of the forty-one panels we track publish a voltage, and all thirty-one fit under 60. Eight of them are EcoFlow's own.

No single panel we track fills a 500 W port. Two of EcoFlow's 400 W folding panels do, and with the port full the 1024 Wh battery is done in about two hours of good sun. Each of those panels weighs 35.3 pounds. The station weighs 27. Four of Renogy's 200 W solar blankets fill the same port at 8.82 pounds apiece. That is the set I'd carry up the cabin steps.

Every panel we track with a published voltage, standing in a line by that voltage. The figure is Voc, the open-circuit voltage, what a panel reads in sun before anything is plugged into it. The black line is 60 V, where the DELTA 3's manual stops. The line of bars runs from 19.6 V, Renogy's 200 W blanket, to 52.63 V, Renogy's 590 W rigid. Same maker at both ends, and neither reaches the line.

The pale cap on each bar is what a cold morning adds, about 10% at −10 °C, because a cold panel pushes more voltage than a warm one. On my deck in January the Fluke meter would read that cap on every label here. Every cap stays under 60.

The manual's 60 is a total. Wire two panels in series, the positive lead of one into the negative of the next, and their voltages stack. Two bars from the tall end of this line, stacked, would clear 60 in any weather.

How long the DELTA 3 takes to charge on solar

The tick sits at about two hours. That is the port taking all 500 W, which eleven of the sets further down can manage, none of them a single panel. One 200 W folding panel delivers about 144 W in real sun and needs about seven hours. A 100 W panel gives about 72 W and needs about fourteen.

A good day has 3 to 6 hours of sun that strong. The pair is done before the sun is high. The 200 W panel wants most of two days, and the 100 W panel wants a long weekend. The pines on my deck cut that range from the top, so I'd plan on the three. The system builder works out your state and your month.

Thirty-one fit, eight of them EcoFlow's own. For each: the cable into the XT60i socket, what one panel delivers in good sun, and the most the DELTA 3 will take from a set of them. Eleven want an MC4-to-XT60i lead. MC4 is the weatherproof pair of plugs on the leads of most rigid panels. Nothing in the box reaches a panel, so the cable goes in the cart with it. How long does the DELTA 3 take to charge on solar?

One 100 W panel delivers about 72 W in good sun and refills the 1024 Wh battery from empty in about 14.2 hours.

One 200 W panel delivers about 144 W in good sun and refills the 1024 Wh battery from empty in about 7.1 hours.

At its 500 W solar limit it refills in about 2 hours. More panel watts than that won't charge it any faster.

A day gives three to six hours of sun that good, depending on season and place, so one 100 W panel takes 3 to 5 days to fill it. The system builder works it out for your state and month.

What adapter does the DELTA 3 need for solar?

Every panel we track needs a cable to reach its XT60i input. None comes in the box.

The cables they need: MC4 to XT60i (11 panels), DC8020 to XT60i (4 panels), Anderson to XT60i (3 panels), DC5521 to XT60i (2 panels) and XT60 to XT60i (1 panel).

10 panels don't have a named plug from their maker, so check the lead before you buy a cable.

Can you use non-EcoFlow solar panels with the DELTA 3?

Yes. What decides it is the panel's voltage and plug, not the brand. 23 panels from Renogy, Jackery, Anker SOLIX, BLUETTI, Eco-Worthy and Rich Solar work with it, as long as the panel stays under 60 V on a cold morning and starts above 11 V.

The strongest single panels here are the Renogy 590W N-Type Bifacial (425 W delivered) and the Jackery SolarSaga 500 X (360 W delivered).

Can you connect two solar panels to the DELTA 3?

Yes, joined into one input with a series or parallel cable.

Don't wire two BLUETTI PV100 FX Flexible panels in series: together they would pass its 60 V limit. Parallel them instead.

Past 500 W delivered, more panels only help on cloudy days.

What is the DELTA 3's solar input?
