Solar panels for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic

The DELTA 3 Classic is the $499 DELTA 3, and it keeps the solar port. One XT60i socket, the yellow DC plug EcoFlow puts on the end of its own solar cable, rated for 11 to 60 volts and 500 W. Thirty-one of the forty-one panels we track publish a voltage. None of the thirty-one reaches 60, and eight of them are EcoFlow's own.

500 W into a 1024 Wh battery is two hours of good sun. No single panel we track gets the port there. Two of EcoFlow's 400 W folding panels do, and so do four of the 200 W folding panels from BLUETTI, Jackery, Renogy or Rich Solar. One 200 W panel on its own delivers about 144 W and needs about seven hours. On a clear Saturday at the cabin I'd set out the pair at breakfast and stop thinking about it by mid-morning.

Every panel we track with a published voltage, standing in a line by that voltage. The figure is Voc, the open-circuit voltage, what a panel puts out in full sun before anything is connected to it. The black line is 60 V, the most the Classic's one port will take. No bar reaches it.

The pale cap on each bar is the cold-morning allowance, about 10% at −10 °C. A panel puts out more voltage cold than warm, so my deck in January is where I'd read one. The surprise in this line is EcoFlow's own 125W Bifacial Modular, a small panel that reads 50 V on its label, taller than either of EcoFlow's 400 W panels. Cap and all, it still fits.

The limit is a total. Wire two panels in series, the positive lead of one into the negative of the next, and their voltages add. Two of those 125 W modulars stacked that way are over the line in any weather. Side by side in parallel the voltage stays at one panel's worth and the current adds instead, and the manual caps that at 15 A.

How long the DELTA 3 Classic takes to charge on solar

Two hours, with the port taking its full 500 W. Eleven of the sets below get it there, and a pair of EcoFlow 400W panels is the simplest of them. One 100 W panel on its own gives about 72 W in real sun and needs about fourteen hours. A 200 W panel gives 144 W and needs about seven.

A good day has 3 to 6 hours of sun that strong. The pair fills the Classic in a morning. One 200 W panel spends most of a weekend on the job, and one 100 W panel runs past it. At that point I'd carry the second panel rather than wait. The system builder works out your state and your month.

Solar panels compatible with the DELTA 3 Classic

Thirty-one fit, eight of them EcoFlow's own. For each: the cable that gets it into the XT60i socket, what one panel delivers in good sun, and the most the Classic will take from a set of them. Eleven need an MC4-to-XT60i lead, MC4 being the weatherproof click-together plugs on most rigid panels. The box holds the station, an AC charging cable and the paperwork, so whichever cable you need goes in the cart with the panel. Sorted by delivered watts.

How long does the DELTA 3 Classic take to charge on solar?

One 100 W panel delivers about 72 W in good sun and refills the 1024 Wh battery from empty in about 14.2 hours.

One 200 W panel delivers about 144 W in good sun and refills the 1024 Wh battery from empty in about 7.1 hours.

At its 500 W solar limit it refills in about 2 hours. More panel watts than that won't charge it any faster.

A day gives three to six hours of sun that good, depending on season and place, so one 100 W panel takes 3 to 5 days to fill it. The system builder works it out for your state and month.

What adapter does the DELTA 3 Classic need for solar?

Every panel we track needs a cable to reach its XT60i input. None comes in the box.

The cables they need: MC4 to XT60i (11 panels), DC8020 to XT60i (4 panels), Anderson to XT60i (3 panels), DC5521 to XT60i (2 panels) and XT60 to XT60i (1 panel).

10 panels don't have a named plug from their maker, so check the lead before you buy a cable.

Can you use non-EcoFlow solar panels with the DELTA 3 Classic?

Yes. What decides it is the panel's voltage and plug, not the brand. 23 panels from Renogy, Jackery, Anker SOLIX, BLUETTI, Eco-Worthy and Rich Solar work with it, as long as the panel stays under 60 V on a cold morning and starts above 11 V.

The strongest single panels here are the Renogy 590W N-Type Bifacial (425 W delivered) and the Jackery SolarSaga 500 X (360 W delivered).

Can you connect two solar panels to the DELTA 3 Classic?

Yes, joined into one input with a series or parallel cable.

Don't wire two BLUETTI PV100 FX Flexible panels in series: together they would pass its 60 V limit. Parallel them instead.

Past 500 W delivered, more panels only help on cloudy days.
