Solar panels for the EcoFlow DELTA 2

The DELTA 2 has been around long enough that its own web address at EcoFlow now opens the DELTA 3 page. Every solar figure here comes from the DELTA 2 manual instead, and the manual has not aged. 11 to 60 volts and 500 W, with a line asking you to keep the panel within 60 volts to avoid damaging the station. Thirty-one of the forty-one panels we track publish a voltage. All thirty-one fit, eight of them EcoFlow's own.

The manual draws the port, labels it Solar/car charging input port, and never says which plug fits it. EcoFlow's cable page settles the shopping part: the Solar to XT60i Charging Cable lists the DELTA 2 among the stations it works best with. XT60 is the yellow two-pin DC plug, XT60i is EcoFlow's own version, and an XT60i plug fits a plain XT60 socket. So that is the lead I'd order, whichever socket EcoFlow fitted.

Behind the socket is 1024 Wh, and with the port full at 500 W it is done in two hours of good sun. No single panel we track gets it there. Two of EcoFlow's 400W folding panels do. If the panel you already own is EcoFlow's NextGen 220W Bifacial, it fits, delivers about 158 W on its own, and four of them fill the port. At the cabin I'd stand the one I had at the sunny end of the deck on Saturday and read the screen on Sunday.

Every panel we track with a published voltage, in a row by that voltage. The figure is Voc, the open-circuit voltage, what a panel puts out in sun with nothing plugged into it. The black line is 60 V, the DELTA 2's ceiling. The tallest bar is Renogy's 590 W rigid at 52.63 V, and it stops short.

The pale cap on each bar is the cold allowance, about 10% at −10 °C. A cold panel makes more voltage than a warm one. On my deck in January that cap is the number I'd believe. Even with the cap on, no bar reaches the line.

The bars stand alone. Wire two panels in series, positive lead of one into the negative of the next, and they stop standing alone: the voltages add, and the manual's 60 V is for the sum.

How long the DELTA 2 takes to charge on solar

Two hours, with the port full at 500 W. Eleven of the sets below get it there, and none of them is one panel. A single 100 W panel delivers about 72 W in real sun and needs about fourteen hours. A 200 W panel delivers about 144 W and needs about seven.

A good day brings 3 to 6 hours of sun that strong. A full set finishes inside one of those days with light to spare. One 200 W panel wants the better part of a weekend. One 100 W panel runs past the weekend, pine shadows not counted. The system builder works out your state and your month.

How long does the DELTA 2 take to charge on solar?

One 100 W panel delivers about 72 W in good sun and refills the 1024 Wh battery from empty in about 14.2 hours.

One 200 W panel delivers about 144 W in good sun and refills the 1024 Wh battery from empty in about 7.1 hours.

At its 500 W solar limit it refills in about 2 hours. More panel watts than that won't charge it any faster.

A day gives three to six hours of sun that good, depending on season and place, so one 100 W panel takes 3 to 5 days to fill it. The system builder works it out for your state and month.

What adapter does the DELTA 2 need for solar?

Every panel we track needs a cable to reach its input. None comes in the box.

31 panels don't have a named plug from their maker, so check the lead before you buy a cable.

Can you use non-EcoFlow solar panels with the DELTA 2?

Yes. What decides it is the panel's voltage and plug, not the brand. 23 panels from Renogy, Jackery, Anker SOLIX, BLUETTI, Eco-Worthy and Rich Solar work with it, as long as the panel stays under 60 V on a cold morning and starts above 11 V.

The strongest single panels here are the Renogy 590W N-Type Bifacial (425 W delivered) and the Jackery SolarSaga 500 X (360 W delivered).

Can you connect two solar panels to the DELTA 2?

Yes, joined into one input with a series or parallel cable.

Don't wire two BLUETTI PV100 FX Flexible panels in series: together they would pass its 60 V limit. Parallel them instead.

Past 500 W delivered, more panels only help on cloudy days.

What is the DELTA 2's solar input?

Solar/car charging input port (spec row: "Solar Charging"): 11–60 V, up to 15 A, 500 W.
