Solar panels for the Jackery HomePower 3000

The HomePower 3000 has two solar inputs, 1000 W between them, and a rule in the manual about using both at once. The voltage window is 16 to 60, wide enough that thirty-one of the forty-one panels we track fit and none is over the line. The rule: both ports want the same Jackery panel model in the same number, or the manual warns the unit can be damaged.

The battery is 3072 Wh, and a full input fills it in about three hours. Four of Jackery's own SolarSaga 500 X panels get the input there. One 200 W folding panel on its own needs about twenty-one hours of good sun. I wouldn't plan a cabin weekend around that.

Both sockets also take the car charging cable, which Jackery sells separately. The label gives the solar limit as a working voltage and never prints a separate open-circuit figure.

Every panel we track, stood in a line by its open-circuit voltage. That is the Voc on the sticker, the voltage a panel makes with nothing plugged into it, and the highest it will ever show the station. The black line is 60 V. Nothing we track reaches it.

The pale cap on each bar is the extra voltage a cold morning adds, about 10% at minus 10 °C. On my deck in January that cap is real. Even the tallest panel here, Renogy's rigid 590 W at 52.63 V, keeps its cap under the line. Jackery prints 60 as a working voltage, so I'd still put my Fluke meter across any panel near it before plugging in.

How long the HomePower 3000 takes to charge on solar

About three hours with the input full. Only two of the thirty-one can get there as a set, Renogy's 590 W rigid and Jackery's SolarSaga 500 X, four panels either way. EcoFlow's 400 W folding panel comes within a few watts of it.

One 200 W folding panel gives around 144 W in real sun and needs about twenty-one hours. A 100 W panel is nearer forty-three hours. A good day has three to six hours of sun that strong. Where you live and what month it is decide how many of those days you get. Our system builder does that sum for your state.

Solar panels compatible with the HomePower 3000

Thirty-one fit. For each: the cable it needs, what one panel delivers in good sun, and the biggest set the input will take. Eleven arrive on MC4, the weatherproof clip connectors rooftop panels use, and need an MC4-to-DC8020 adapter, DC8020 being Jackery's 8 mm barrel socket. Four plug straight in, all Jackery's own. Read the best-set column alongside the manual, which allows one 500 W or two 200 W panels per port, the second via a solar panel connector sold separately.

How long does the HomePower 3000 take to charge on solar?

One 100 W panel delivers about 72 W in good sun and refills the 3072 Wh battery from empty in about 42.7 hours.

One 200 W panel delivers about 144 W in good sun and refills the 3072 Wh battery from empty in about 21.3 hours.

At its 1000 W solar limit it refills in about 3.1 hours. More panel watts than that won't charge it any faster.

A day gives three to six hours of sun that good, depending on season and place, so one 100 W panel takes 8 to 15 days to fill it. The system builder works it out for your state and month.

What adapter does the HomePower 3000 need for solar?

None, if the panel's plug is DC8020: Jackery SolarSaga 100 Air, Jackery SolarSaga 80W, Jackery SolarSaga 40 Air and 1 other plug straight in.

The cables the other panels need: MC4 to DC8020 (11 panels), Anderson to DC8020 (3 panels), DC5521 to DC8020 (2 panels) and XT60 to DC8020 (1 panel).

10 panels don't have a named plug from their maker, so check the lead before you buy a cable.

Can you use non-Jackery solar panels with the HomePower 3000?

Yes. What decides it is the panel's voltage and plug, not the brand. 24 panels from Renogy, Anker SOLIX, EcoFlow, BLUETTI, Eco-Worthy and Rich Solar work with it, as long as the panel stays under 60 V on a cold morning and starts above 16 V.

The strongest single panels here are the Renogy 590W N-Type Bifacial (425 W delivered) and the Anker SOLIX 440W Rigid (317 W delivered).

Can you connect two solar panels to the HomePower 3000?

Yes. It has 2 solar inputs, so the simplest way is one panel on each. Use the same panel model on both. Jackery's inputs share a controller, and mismatched panels hold each other back.

Don't wire two BLUETTI PV100 FX Flexible panels in series: together they would pass its 60 V limit. Parallel them instead.

Past 1000 W delivered, more panels only help on cloudy days.

What is the HomePower 3000's solar input?

DC Input (DC8020) port 1: 16–60 V, up to 12 A. DC Input (DC8020) port 2: 16–60 V, up to 12 A. 1000 W across all inputs together.
