Solar panels for the BLUETTI AC200L

The AC200L is the odd one in BLUETTI's line. Its solar input is a round plug BLUETTI calls an Aviation socket, and the window behind it runs from 12 to 145 volts, up to 1,200 W. Thirty-one of the forty-one panels we track publish a voltage, and all thirty-one sit well under 145. The manual's warning page draws the line there and asks for panels wired in series, several on one lead with their voltages added together.

With nothing too tall, the question moves to filling it. 2048 Wh is the battery, and with the input full it is done in a little under two hours of good sun. Two sets we can build get the input there, four of Renogy's 590 W rigid panels or four of Jackery's SolarSaga 500 X.

At the cabin I'd give this one four rigid panels on a rack where the pine shadows arrive late and run a single lead down to the socket. A folding panel on the deck would be a top-up, and I'd use it as one.

Every panel we track with a published voltage, standing in a line by that voltage. The figure is Voc on the label, the open-circuit voltage, which is what a panel shows in full sun with nothing drawing from it. The black line is 145 V. The tallest bar on the chart is Renogy's 590 W rigid at 52.63 V. BLUETTI's own five are all on the chart too, the PV100 FX and the 350W among them.

The pale cap on each bar is the extra voltage a cold morning adds, about 10% at −10 °C, which is an ordinary January sunrise on my deck. Every cap stays under the line as well. The gap above the caps is where the manual expects you to stack panels in series, one panel's positive lead into the next panel's negative. Wired that way the voltages add and the current stays at a single panel's worth.

How long the AC200L takes to charge on solar

A little under two hours with the input full. Four of the Renogy 590 W rigids or four of the Jackery SolarSaga 500 X deliver the whole 1,200 W. If the wall charger is plugged in at the same time, the manual caps solar and AC together at 2,400 W.

One 200 W folding panel gives about 144 W in real sun and needs about fourteen hours, more sun than a weekend has in it. A 100 W panel gives about 72 W and needs about twenty-eight. A good day has three to six hours of sun that strong, so the small panels are counting in days. The system builder works out how many for your state.

How long does the AC200L take to charge on solar?

One 100 W panel delivers about 72 W in good sun and refills the 2048 Wh battery from empty in about 28.4 hours.

One 200 W panel delivers about 144 W in good sun and refills the 2048 Wh battery from empty in about 14.2 hours.

At its 1200 W solar limit it refills in about 1.7 hours. More panel watts than that won't charge it any faster.

A day gives three to six hours of sun that good, depending on season and place, so one 100 W panel takes 5 to 10 days to fill it. The system builder works it out for your state and month.

What adapter does the AC200L need for solar?

Every panel we track needs a cable to reach its Aviation input.

The cables they need: MC4 to Aviation (11 panels), DC8020 to Aviation (4 panels), Anderson to Aviation (3 panels), DC5521 to Aviation (2 panels) and XT60 to Aviation (1 panel).

10 panels don't have a named plug from their maker, so check the lead before you buy a cable.

Can you use non-BLUETTI solar panels with the AC200L?

Yes. What decides it is the panel's voltage and plug, not the brand. 26 panels from Renogy, Jackery, Anker SOLIX, EcoFlow, Eco-Worthy and Rich Solar work with it, as long as the panel stays under 145 V on a cold morning and starts above 12 V.

The strongest single panels here are the Renogy 590W N-Type Bifacial (425 W delivered) and the Jackery SolarSaga 500 X (360 W delivered).

Can you connect two solar panels to the AC200L?

Yes, joined into one input with a series or parallel cable.

Wired in series, up to 3 BLUETTI PV100 FX Flexible panels fit under its 145 V limit, even on a -10°C morning. Series adds voltage; parallel adds current.

Past 1200 W delivered, more panels only help on cloudy days.

What is the AC200L's solar input?
